I've changed the steering wheel in both my BRZ and GR86. It's a critical and super simple mod. It's the thing that you touch 100% of the time driving, and the stock wheel doesn't do it justice. I chose the TOM'S carbon wheel for the GR86. Should be noted that the 22+ steering wheels are interchangeable with 17-20 wheels.
All the carbon fiber goodness is crazy! Love the matte finish on the interior vent/hvac items. Mod garage did an awesome job with the steering wheel also!
Another great video and awesome mods! Question though. On Mod Garage's website, the drop down for the year only goes up to 2021, is that steering wheel for the GR hidden somewhere on the website? Can't seem to find it. Keep up the great work and excited to see the final SEMA look!👍

I really like that steering wheel but I need one for a BRZ. The stock wheel is too skinny. I’ve been on the fence about gloss or matte carbon pieces but I think I really like the matte. I had been leaning toward matte and I think I’m ready to buy them!
@@lunar3009 so a lot of people on forums didn't have to get anything realigned.. but after talking to rexspeed engineering team, Toyota has a plus/minus 8 degree tolerance on the steering position, so there is a chance. And with my luck, mine was out haha
I did buy the twinscarbon pieces that yoz showcased in an earlier video. I dont like them so much. They dont have that deep holographic effect. They look a bit "flat" if that makes sense and they are not very shiny (have the glossy ones)
Hey Kevin, loving the build and all the part recommendations for the 86 so far! Quick question: what is that hole in your center console just below the traction/stability/track controls? I know the AT's get the cup holder in that general spot so it's a common console swap for MT's to get that extra storage, but that hole is something new to me. My 86 MT doesn't have that hole, and it's driving me crazy not knowing what it is! Edit: Nevermind, I'm stupid. It's the seat warmers haha. I have a premium MT, and I didn't put together that the base model doesn't have them and just has a hole instead.

Good to mention that this kind of steering wheel mods that keep the stock airbag are cool in Europe because it’s not street legal to remove it !

I got a rexspeed steering wheel for mine, my favorite mod so far... I had to get an alignment done to center it up
wait why did u have to get an alignment? imma install the wheel soon but is it required?
Sometimes, aftermarket wheels don't line up perfectly so to straighten the wheel you have to get it realigned.

Matte carbon is completely the way to go. Reflective surfaces inside are no good.
