This film MOVED me. Something that films don’t do very often. At least not in the way Ghostlight did. I was at the opening screening at Sundance, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start the festival.
I enjoyed your review thanks. I just saw this film and it felt quite authentic. Nice to have normal looking actors who seemed like real people. (I thought it was fantastic casting until I learned the parents and daughter are in fact as such!) This movie was deeply touching.
A friend just suggested this to me, and I just watched it. As an older actress who is very much into Shakespeare, I loved it. It depicted what I know about the therapeutic value of theater. Shakespeare knew human nature, and his words confront the father in a way nothing else could. His healing happened when he was able to say the words instead of rejecting them or trying to change the story. Anyway, thanks for the review.
I know I'm coming in late with this one, but I just saw this movie streaming on Acorn. A lot of people might call this film "schmaltzy" because it wears its heart on its sleeve, but that's just what I love about it. The emotions are authentic and powerful, and they aren't undercut by a heavy seasoning of irony. I'm very happy that films like this exist, but regretful that there aren't more films brave enough to take a more sincere approach to their storytelling.
Just saw it yesterday in NC. Knew almost nothing about it before going in. It blew me away. Keith Klupferer should be nominated for an Academy Award. Best movie of 2024 to date!
@@nonyabusiness2510 There's been a good amount of chat about it on Twitter. And Deadline has included Keith Kupferer on list of possible Best Actor nominees

I agree. I'm really surprised there isn't more talk about that. I haven't seen a movie this good for a LONG time.

Best movie I've seen in a long time. Still thinking about it.
Great movie, actually really well acted, although it doesn't seem that way at the beginning.
My fav film I’ve seen this year so far
It's10/10 from me
I agree. I can't think of one thing that could have improved it.
