Slim, your camerawork makes it really seem like you have a crew following you. I really appreciate the work that must go into setting the kayak down, going to set up a camera, going back, walking past the camera, going back for the camera, and repeating that over and over. Same with the shots of the car going through the puddle in the "road" on the previous video. You put a lot of work into getting those angles and you do it so well that you could almost not even think about it as a viewer.
Seeing you dragging that kayak and also being aware how much goes into stopping, setting up a shot, then backtracking to walk through a scene makes me realize how you stay in great shape. No Gym membership for you. Thanks Mr. Slim.
You keep outdoing yourself and bring me so much enjoyment…you make me feel as though I am right there seeing what you are seeing; walking where you are walking; watching you come into view from around the corner or disappear in the distance: love these shots. Realizing the planning and time it takes while also being a viewer is just plain special. Thank you, Slim.
Great video. There are wheels that you can attach to one end of your kayak. They're good for most terrain and not expensive. BUT I want to tell you about my sasquatch experience there. When I was about 8 years old my family went to Katadin. My father, older brother and me went for a hike. About an hour into the hike my father froze in his tracks when heading around a big boulder. We all came to a screeching halt. My father turned around, looked at us and said, "Let's go back. No talking." He was pale as a ghost. My brother and I were disappointed but did as told. My brother asked why several times but my father wouldn't answer. Back at the site my mother was surprised to see us. She asked what happened and my father said he'd tell her later. Evening came and my brother and I went to sleep in the tent. I could hear my brother snoring and my parents talking. My father told my mother that he saw a tall hairy man, looking like an ape, coming down the trail. Needless to say we packed up early the next morning and left. This took place in 1967.
Loved your picture of the mountain with clouds so pretty. The underwater photography was interesting. That trail you hiked was something else, a real obstacle course but the features along the way and the waterfalls were beautiful. Your wild flower shots are so nice. Love your sense of humor Slim. Happy Trails.
IT'S RAINING - I'M GOING TO STAY IN THE CAMPER - said Slim NEVER! Thanks for a "normal" rainy day video of outstanding beauty and some chuckles! Was in Maine last fall and the fall time is a great time to visit the state, Slim. Hope you make it back.
Awesome recovery to your stay! I found it easier to shoulder carry that style of kayak...especially on a haul that long...which took some serious determination! Slip a sliced pool noodle over the cockpit rim for some padding if desired. Also, if your tie down straps hum, give them half a twist to stop the fluttering in the wind. I hope you make it back in the fall, that could be incredible if you time it right.
"Was it worth it? Hell yeah!" When you put it that way, Slim, with that big ol' warm smile on your face, I just don't think anything better can be said. You either get it or you don't. Man, what a day you had! AWESOME! Thanks for sharing. And your camera work, it's very immersive. Well done, kind sir!
Part two, time to start the morning with some awesomeness 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 If it’s not a hassle and you have the room, I would make a small one or two wheeled trailer to help with the kayak.
Thanks for the PSA reminder for helping keep America trash-free and for hauling out that left behind by the non-caring. Some people don’t seem to realize that a single piece of trash left behind impacts the visuals of the next person hoping for a true wilderness experience. I appreciate you.
We became campers, or rather, Glampers, during the Pandemic. We began to watch TH-cam to watch other RV travellers or travellers in general. We really enjoyed your videos in the wilderness when we were in lock down. My favourites are your hikes highlighting things you see in nature. We lived vicariously through your videos for many months! We are delighted to get out in our tiny camper (16 ft) and enjoy being off the grid as well (no hookups). Keep up the good work as your videos provide joy for many.
Thanks Slim. I'm recovering from surgery and shack whacky. Your video was a great escape. My favorite part is just floating on the water seeing the beautiful scenery. The birds, plants, sound of water. This was so good. I appreciate your hard work and top quality show.
Drive, drive, drive...go back and get the camera. Walk, walk, walk...go back and get the camera. Paddle, paddle, paddle...go back and get the camera. Then...edit, edit, edit! We really appreciate how much work you put into creating these wonderful videos! Thank you so much :)
I love when you wax poetic Slim. I must say I get incensed when I see garbage in a natural area. I spent Memorial Day in a state park preserve in Connecticut. When I opened my van cargo doors I had such a beautiful view of the valley and marshes framed by the hills as the hawks circled above. Unfortunately some people pulled up right next to me with their music blasting. I kept my patience until they left a little later but they left trash all over the parking area. I picked it all up and it filled half a trash bag. I just don't understand how some people think it's okay to do that.
I thoroughly enjoyed the waterfall shots near the beginning, but at the same time was saddened knowing so many water resources are all dried up here in Northern Nevada. I hope to see more underwater photography with your new waterproof camera.
Beautiful, Slim! Somebody may have already said it, but you can buy kayak trolleys for fairly cheap. Take it from me, who lugged her heavy windsurfing board down to the beach, and pulled a disc in my back!
Just fell on your channel. The words Baxter State Park caught my eye. You're hilarious! I live in southern Maine and have camped and hiked Katahdin many times..... always IN THE FALL!! No bugs! Early September. You're kayaking....how peaceful was that!!?? Katahdin is gorgeous even in the clouds. Enjoy!
That shot of those mountains peeking through the fog is spectacular, it would be a gorgeous painting. Beautiful trillium. Sometimes the state parks need to be reserved a year or more in advanced. We have to do that for the Pennsylvania state park we use for our family reunion. Try Killian’s Red beer sometime, my favorite.
No wonder you’re slim! You have to walk the hike 3 times just to film it! Love your videos and from the comments the effort you put in is clearly not going unnoticed! Thanks for picking up the beer can!
Hey Slim, as someone who once moved from Alberta to the east coast (and then the west coast too), the one thing I’d recommend is to seriously upgrade your wet weather gear. Especially if you’re taking up kayaking. I learned that what I had from home was woefully inadequate but spending the money at a local outfitter for regionally appropriate gear was totally with the investment. Now I’m back in Alberta with a cupboard full of wet weather gear that I’ll rarely use!
Love camping up there , we usually go up around the end of September, early October. No bugs, and the foliage is absolutely gorgeous! Stay safe, have a great day and may God bless…
I grew up in Portage Lake about 1 1/2 hours north of Baxter up in Aroostook county. It was a great place to grow up as a young fellow in the 70’s and early 80’s. I live in San Diego now but I still remember the black flies in spring were known to drive folks insane. Thanks for sharing. It brought back a lot of great memories.
Thank you for filming that decent to the pond for us, it had to made it much more difficult for you. What a pretty park! I loved your potty humor, very funny. Thanks Slim!
I have to admit, you go through a lot in the placement of your camera's. We watch and forget all the work that you guys do to allow us to watch Nat Geo type films. Thank you, Slim.
When I must carry my kayak on a forest trail to a lake like you did at Baxter state park, I find it much easier to stuff the gear equally in the back and front of the kayak and carry it all on my head. For long trails I use a folded shirt or towel between my head and seat for cushion. That way I easily walk up to half a kilometer in the forest or go down long stairways and find myself alone on lakes, ponds and streams that nobody dares to reach with their kayak. Keep on your excellent work! Merci beaucoup.
What a great paddle you even if it was raining. Mother Nature is so awesome, the trees take hold of anything they can and keep right on growing, falls gurgling around the rocks was wonderful. You sure take us on some fabulous camping trips!
Slim, checkout strap-on kayak carts. They are just wheels strapped to the kayak and weight little. I can put 80 lbs of"crap" on it and tow it with "little" effort. I'm 67 and can lug 100lbs. with it over 3 miles to camp in one trip (mileage may vary).
Get yourself a kayak portage cart. You can buy one ready made or catch a few TH-cam tutorials and make one from PVC. Use golf cart wheels, they seem to be the perfect compromise over not getting stuck in terrain and being able to easily be pulled over terrain. I'm in my 70's and a bit beat up yet can still kayak the wilder spots due to not having to carry my boat.
Have a second horse farm in Maine. Can see the mountain, at least 100 miles from it. Because of the dairy farms, I have no bugs. Incredible. I sit out, gin and tonic and watch sunset. Like being in key west
Get a piece of pool noodle for your boat’s cockpit coaming, then on longer portages you can carry the boat using your shoulder, much easier . Also loose the poncho, you need rain gear that won’t hinder when (not if ) you end up in the water. Thanks as always for sharing.
Thanks for going to all the effort involved to bring this video of your kayaking adventure to us for us to enjoy so easily and in the comfort of our own loungeroom, bedroom, workstation, break room, grassy patch in the sun at lunchbreak, or wherever. Cheers and happy trails!
Slim, I started out thinking I liked IPAs, then moved to Pilzners. Then I was turned onto stouts and porters. Now these have some flavor! Any cholocate or peanut butter stout I've tried now have been top notch. Maybe give those a try.
I really enjoyed trying to ID the bird calls as you hiked, I recognized a few of them...One tip is on a paper map just the little Tent symbol, normally means primitive campsite the one with a tent and a tree beside it normally a little more developed you probably already knew that...take care.
slim I'm glad you got to experience a small part of the most precious and beautiful spot in Maine next time make the reservation for a week you'll come away with an experience for a lifetime and oh yeah the blackflies are a real "JOY" in maine
Now I’m homesick. Traveling in the southwest where water is scarce. Heading back to Maine soon. Not missing the blackflies and mosquitoes. Thank you for keeping them fed. Wonderful cinematography as usual!
I guess if you are healthy and that kool to continue the longer walk with kayak carrying as well But some times out bodies give out different stages of our ages. So it's a great thing that ppl do this so we can go along with them. ❤❤❤❤
Slim was on a good one for this video! My family couldn't figure out why I was laughing so often! As always, a wonderful experience watching Mr. Potatohead's work. Thank you!!

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement here. Thank you Slim!
I paused it at 14:30 to comment the same things. Ditto, Thanks Chris Benard, aand THANKS Slim.
Same things were going through my mind!
I was coming to say the exact same thing
Not to mention the three trips across that wet and slippery plank bridge for one shot.
Seeing you dragging that kayak and also being aware how much goes into stopping, setting up a shot, then backtracking to walk through a scene makes me realize how you stay in great shape. No Gym membership for you. Thanks Mr. Slim.

Sitting by the waterfall.......pure zen.
Awesome recovery to your stay!

Can't agree this more! My arm and hip ached just from watching him carry it like that. It's not a bad load to bear on your shoulders.
It's a blessing to be able to come to a respectful community. So please let's keep it that way. Thank you for sharing your experiences Slim!!!✌🏻❤😊
Love the reverse kayak carry.
Absolutely breathtaking scenery. And I love the birds in the background.
Slim you can get a kayak cart thing that has wheels and you can easily tow a kayak by hand..saves your back.
I appreciate you fighting the road and bugs to bring us to this lovely park
Loved all the bird songs!
Part two, time to start the morning with some awesomeness 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 If it’s not a hassle and you have the room, I would make a small one or two wheeled trailer to help with the kayak.

Love all the moss & ferns.
Boulders, tree roots, nature shapes, so beautiful!
That fog shrouded mountain was beautiful !!!
Love your spirit my man!👍

Slim, Baxter State Park is absolutely stunning during Fall Foliage Season. It is also beautiful during the winter.
Thanks for another great video!
WOW! Nature finds a way! Thanks for helping cure those of us who have plant blindness...or nature blindness...Nature has so much to teach us.
Yes...keep Maine beautiful ❤️
Thank you

we got spoiled omg, 2 videos in 2 days.. THANK YOU 😁
I thoroughly enjoyed the waterfall shots near the beginning, but at the same time was saddened knowing so many water resources are all dried up here in Northern Nevada.

The lush greenery is so beautiful there. So often peace & serenity is balanced by toil & sweat.
I really enjoy your humor Slim! You are so genuine, so authentic. The world needs more gentle souls like you. 😊

Canoeing when there's no or little wind is so nice and peaceful! I haven't been out for years...
Thanks for sharing, and reminding me!

Beautiful waterfall. You chose a good trail!
I grew up there and still maintain a strong connection. Its a rugged place thats for sure.
You are very strong, I could never do that. And I kayak often but I can't haul my kayak that far, you amaze!
Hey Slim! Thanks for providing us with great videos.
Another quality video. Love the scenery. Thanks Slim!
Always the best. Thank You.
That was absolutely gorgeous…especially the journey on the water…loved the scenery and the sound of the gentle lapping through the water🥰
Slim, you have me swatting for flies and I'm safe and sound in my house. Cheers 🇨🇦
Coffee in hand, and a morning with Slim. Great start!
Thank you for filming that decent to the pond for us, it had to made it much more difficult for you. What a pretty park! I loved your potty humor, very funny. Thanks Slim!
I lived in Maine about 20 years ago. It really is one of the most beautiful places I've known. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I have to admit, you go through a lot in the placement of your camera's. We watch and forget all the work that you guys do to allow us to watch Nat Geo type films. Thank you, Slim.
You are amazing, Slim! Thank you so much for your time and effort to give us such a great adventure 🙏
Great video. You really need to invest in the little wheels for overlanding your kayak. Beautiful and peaceful ponds.
When I must carry my kayak on a forest trail to a lake like you did at Baxter state park, I find it much easier to stuff the gear equally in the back and front of the kayak and carry it all on my head. It was totally beautiful too. Thanks Slim!
Ha!! Slim says: "No Bugs!" - meanwhile bug flying around lens and the tiny buzzing sound of wings make an appearance... Great video again.
Check out the caddie dolly for your kayak easier to pull and carry. Build your own for simple simplicity.
You were carrying that kayak like a 6 pack!
Yes, videos 2 days in a row! Thank you. We are really enjoying watching your adventures.
Gorgeous and hilarious!
What a great paddle you even if it was raining. Mother Nature is so awesome, the trees take hold of anything they can and keep right on growing, falls gurgling around the rocks was wonderful. You sure take us on some fabulous camping trips!
Very nice filming of scenert---loved the waterfalls---gnome trees---and underwater view when camera fell in!!!! Well Done!!!!☺☺☺
Lovely, Slim....thank you for taking us along. I needed that breath of fresh air. 🙂
Beautiful! Reminds me of week-long canoe trips in the BWCA.
To protect your vehicle’s paint when you slide your boat off the end, get a thin, foam-backed kitchen rug at a big box store.
Outstanding, Slim…and inspiring!
One of your best!

Great video - pleased that the trip seems to have improved from part 1. Carrying the kayak looked to be hard work!
I loved the enthusiasm with the
"Hell Yeah!"
I understand that feeling after doing outdoor activities hard.
This video was great
So jealous early in the morning. ☕️
Wow!!A twofer. Its like getting a extra birthday gift
2 videos off my favourite happy camper in short time...nicee!!
Take care Slim and drink one beer for me
Thanks for going to all the effort involved to bring this video of your kayaking adventure to us for us to enjoy so easily and in the comfort of our own loungeroom, bedroom, workstation, break room, grassy patch in the sun at lunchbreak, or wherever. Cheers and happy trails!
Stunning camerawork. Fascinating adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Always enjoy your videos not only are they interesting and I learn but they are calming. Thanks.
Rough start indeed, yet you turned that right around. See you next visit, thanks for sharing!

Over 1000ft with a kayak 😳 you deserve a comment and a like 👍🏽 at the very least
The things that you do are amazing 🤩
Great to see you back out on the water Slim. Nice to be able to combine your many pleasures.
Your camera work was amazing on this episode. Excellent! Thank you!
Slim was on a good one for this video! My family couldn't figure out why I was laughing so often! As always, a wonderful experience watching Mr. Potatohead's work. Thank you!!
As always another stellar nature and Slim adventure video. Thanks mate and happy trails. And good luck with the summer renovations!
Very nice video,Thank you.
Yes Shipyard is a great beer!
