Oh 100% i was 10 when we won in 08… been a long time coming. Watchin rondo by himself, we had so many good role players of there yrs that ive loved, Jeff green(remember watching the game vs the heat and he hit that fader from the corner with .6 left IN LEBRONS MUG with the craziest pass across the court) , Evan Turner, Amir johnson, IT4. FUCK A KYRIE
Fr I was 5 when they won it in 08. Didn’t really get to experience it at that age but so glad I got to now at 21. But thank god for the patriots and Red Sox clutching up during that time frame. Fuck we had an amazing childhood
Damn dude one realest videos I’ve seen as a fan of over 20 years. This is one of the most rollercoaster teams in professional team sport history. This video literally explains it… I can’t begin to explain how crazy it is all these years watching and just seeing them build and build too see them finally winning it all last year. Crazy feeling as a fan.
Danny Ainge drafted Jaylen Brown, which at this point is more than fair to say he was the best player out of that draft class... then traded the no. 1 overall pick the next year because he knew Tatum would still be available at 3. I wouldn't be surprised if Ainge had some kind of influence in Brad Stevens essentially replacing him too. He also assembled the Big 3 Celtics. Ainge deserves to be inducted into the HOF.
That's what I'm saying. Not to mention all the strings he pulled to get those draft picks in the first place. Albeit, with a lot of help from the terrible Brooklyn GM. He got the draft picks in place, wheeling and dealing those picks to get the players he wanted, maintained a good core roster throughout the process while those pieces developed, then kept those pieces in place long enough for 2024 to happen. It wasn't just those two players, he was a great manager throughout the last decade that finally won Banner 18 while keeping this team a playoff team for most of that time as well. A lot of teams have had to blow up their entire roster, deal with being a losing team for years until they harnessed enough assets, and then make a push for the championship. Ainge was able to keep them a playoff team for all but one or 2 years. It' remarkable. Even huge franchises like the Lakers and Knicks have had to deal with consecutive bad seasons before they became playoff caliber again. I know he wasn't around for the last few years, but 2024 was a direct result of his work.
Celtics Fan since 1969. Saw Ainge play his entire duration with the Celts. Ainge doesn't belong in the HOF. He belongs in the Hall of Very Good (like a lot of others).
This is the best timeline video for an NBA team that i’ve ever seen, please keep making these. I watched the entire video despite never being a Celtics fan.
Seeing this brings tears to my eyes, championship at a young age, then pain, anger, and disappointment for years. 2024 meant so much to me and us Celtics fans !
People wanted Murray. It's not that uncommon for fans to boo draft picks, and we were scarred from drafting Olynyk ahead of Giannis. I wouldn't have boo'd if I was there, I was pumped about JB, but I understand why fans were booing in that moment.
I’m only 7 minutes into this video and I’m tearing up as I watch this. Jonny, thank you for making and uploading this. To say this video is a hidden gem is an understatement.
thanks for your hard work, that's a very nice video. In detail, on point with the most important moments and comments of commentators, doubters, players, fans... This video also shows how hard it is to win a title. I'm so happy for Tatum and Brown as well as for Horford and all of the players (White, Jrue, ...), coaches and all who made this possible. I hope they win many more titles with this group.
I have been watching these guys since 81 and I love how good they are right now. This team is very special. You put together a great video. Nice work and thank you!
I am super biased but I feel like the celtics rebuild from 08 to now has got to be one of the best sports stories of all time, from the slow death of the old era team to the building of this one. From kyrie turning from our hero to a super villain, then beating him in the finals, and JT and JB being a direct result of the infamous nets trade. Even trading our basically mascot, marcus smart, for porzingis who happened to be the missing key to it all. It literally feels like a movie, and I am so happy to have followed the team every step of the way
This was the most beautiful video I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. I’m 23, and my childhood to manhood lines up perfectly with this timeline. I remember the first season I truly watched and remembered each game was the year we missed the playoffs. Jeff Green’s game winner was the highlight of that season. I remember idolizing Brandon Bass and Avery Bradley, and then crying the next season when Rondo was traded. I was just a kid then, but little did I know that my passion for basketball and the Celtics grew from the pain that they endured in the early 2000s. The hardships faced in the following years that led up to this summer were all worth it. The parade was easily one of the best days of my life. Go Celtics forever 🍀
I really wish the original Big 3 got one more banner. They were right there with the Lakers in 2010 and later with the Heat. I must say that they gave us some legendary series' to watch against Kobe and Lebron. The second banner team was a more grass roots build from the trades of the original Big 3. I didn't mind the Brown pick, at the time, but knew they had more to go. The next year, I knew Tatum was the best pick in that draft class. It was genious for the Celtics, at the same time stupid for the Sixers, to gain more capital while still getting Tatum. They now had their base. From then on, they were right there and just needed to mature and get the right pieces to the puzzle. They now have it for years to come. I always said they should never split up the J's. It took patience amid a turbulent Boston fanbase who demands championships but that patience might just lead to the dynasty they should have had with the original Big 3.
This was brilliant... Being a Die hard Celtics fan its amazing seeing all these Ups and downs these past 15 years... I know you spend so much time creating this masterpiece.. Subscribed! Thanks

I remember it all like it was yesterday, the emotions. The wins, the losses, the pressing the refresh button on trade season every minute to drafting. . This is why celtics is respected as the best franchise in NBA history. Built from the ground up! If jaylen and tatum retire as a celtic they will be legends not just in NBA history but celtics history.
It has been an honor to watch JB and JT grow and mature into the superstars we all knew they would eventually become. #18 is now raised; #19, #20, #21 (or more) soon to follow.
this is why this has been my favorite boston title of the 13 I've experienced. Yes the playoffs were largely a cakewalk. but the entire journey that led up to this is simply incredible. to me, none of the other titles have felt like they had nearly this amount of story behind them. (I was 9 when the red sox broke the curse, so i couldn't appreciate the gravity of that)
Seeing the growth of Brown and Tatum and the genius moves to build around them is something every team hopes to achieve. We are living the dream right now and should cherish that.
Great video. I'm just happy looking back that the Pierce trade wasn't for nothing and that the picks we got back brought us another banner. Truth will always be my favorite Celtic.
@@mikeomalley2460 I remember inviting my friends who weren’t Celtics or basketball fans over for that game. We had no idea we were in for an OT thriller like that. And they almost lost that game too.
