My grandmother emigrated from Venice with my mom when she was young, but even living in another country, she never missed a chance to talk about how much the city meant to her. She died a few years back, but watching Blue talk about venetian stuff really does make me feel like grandma's still around

What’s funny is during a semester abroad I attended, we were basically dumped in Venice and told to fill our time for the weekend with no goal. It's such a strange feeling to see all the exterior and interior pictures of the Doge's Palace and think "I stood right there" and "I remember that part". I've been to the Dodge's Palace. It's absolutely incredible and breathtaking. It looks so simple on the outside and then the further inside you get the more elaborate and glamorous it gets.

What’s funny is during a semester abroad I attended, we were basically dumped in Venice and told to fill our time for the weekend with no goal. Congratulations Blue, you scored your perfect match :) I just recently went on a trip to Venice with my mother and it was incredible. It's such a strange feeling to see all the exterior and interior pictures of the Doge's Palace and think "I stood right there" and "I remember that part". Personally, my favourite rooms in the Palace are the Great Council chamber and the armoury (I love my military history after all).
That was so cute, get me a man who will do a whole ass research project for me.

Also, I agree, putting gothic pointed arches over neo-classical round arches not only looks totally amazing but caters to my personal hierarchy of architecture (gothic > classical). A marvel of synthesis in taking the best parts of both (although I miss the pink marble accents).
