Jacob Bank's song originally has a more low key, bluesy approach which Gabriel did not think would catch the attention of the audience or give him an opportunity to show what he can do. He and his father worked for weeks to transform this to make it more competition ready. I think his nerves showed because of his not being completely invested in the song and this was the qualifying song. But, Jacob was so impressed, he gave the song to Gabriel and then he and his team produced the version with the choir. As to stage presence, he is learning how to engage his audience. That too, is evolving! Check out his performances on the rooftop with the choir! I really look forward to your evaluation!
His original choice for this round of AGT was "I Want to Know What Love Is" (Foreigner) but for whatever reason he didn't get to sing his choice of song. Probably because they couldn't get the legal rights to perform the song due to clearance not given by the rights holders.
@@ThelSuperlKing Lavender was given "I want to know what love is" for her final song. Gabriel wanted to sing "Stand up" as his qualifier but was given "Something Beautiful".
@@nancyskomars1230 Angelina Jordan was told she should sing "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" Sara Bareilles' version when she wanted to sing something else at AGT's second round. She got eliminated like Gabriel when they were told to sing something they didn't originally want to sing. Nightbirde had to argue her heart out to sing her own original "It's OK" when the producers wanted her to sing a cover. She stuck to her guns and got a Golden Buzzer from Simon. I'm not going on a show where they tell you what songs you should sing. I think I'll go on The Voice Fiji at least they allow you to sing your own chosen songs! LOL

The first time I saw a great accompanist was Dr. Brian May on guitar with Freddie Mercury. I thought, oh my goodness who has the hardest job here and I would easily say it was Dr. Brian May. You could watch him as he watched Freddie and see the concentration because we all know Freddie never did the same thing twice? I love Gabriel and I loved this performance. A bittersweet moment but still stunning. 😍

Gabriel is not a professional but in his genre he is much better than all the so called professionals. Gesturing with your hands is not counterproductive but on the contrary it is an additional skill that only great singers have, like an orchestra conductor him directs his voice with the movements of his hands. Anyone who does not understand these subtleties and even highlights them as "mistakes" to be corrected is completely off track. If we want to talk about the whistle, only you and maybe some bats can hear the slight imperfection 😁
He has improved drastically even since that performance, if you start to see what he has released in the last 3 months or so, it is mind-blowing just how improved he is and his English lyrics and pronunciation has improved as well.

His original choice for this round of AGT was "I Want to Know What Love Is" (Foreigner) but for whatever reason he didn't get to sing his choice of song. Probably because they couldn't get the legal rights to perform the song due to clearance not given by the rights holders.
@@ThelSuperlKing Lavender was given "I want to know what love is" for her final song. Gabriel wanted to sing "Stand up" as his qualifier but was given "Something Beautiful".
@@nancyskomars1230 Angelina Jordan was told she should sing "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" Sara Bareilles' version when she wanted to sing something else at AGT's second round. She got eliminated like Gabriel when they were told to sing something they didn't originally want to sing. Nightbirde had to argue her heart out to sing her own original "It's OK" when the producers wanted her to sing a cover. She stuck to her guns and got a Golden Buzzer from Simon. I'm not going on a show where they tell you what songs you should sing. I think I'll go on The Voice Fiji at least they allow you to sing your own chosen songs! LOL
@@ThelSuperlKing at least The Voice lets the artist decide what's best for themselves. I read Angelina did not want to sign the AGT contract and neither did Gabriel. Interesting they both got eliminated!

The first time I saw a great accompanist was Dr. Brian May on guitar with Freddie Mercury. I thought, oh my goodness who has the hardest job here and I would easily say it was Dr. Brian May. You could watch him as he watched Freddie and see the concentration because we all know Freddie never did the same thing twice? I love Gabriel and I loved this performance. A bittersweet moment but still stunning. 😍
That sounds like an incredible experience! Dr Brian May is such a phenomenal guitarist, and his chemistry with Freddie Mercury is legendary. Gabriel is not a professional but in his genre he is much better than all the so called professionals. Gesturing with your hands is not counterproductive but on the contrary it is an additional skill that only great singers have, like an orchestra conductor him directs his voice with the movements of his hands. Anyone who does not understand these subtleties and even highlights them as "mistakes" to be corrected is completely off track. If we want to talk about the whistle, only you and maybe some bats can hear the slight imperfection 😁
He has improved drastically even since that performance, if you start to see what he has released in the last 3 months or so, it is mind-blowing just how improved he is and his English lyrics and pronunciation has improved as well.
