It's nice to see some life in the old place for a change. It's amazing that the town has hardly changed in 35 years which was the first time that we went there. The beach area however has changed a lot as the sea used to come right up to the cliff and the cave door where you were walking at 15.32. The cave that you went in was an old German gun emplacement that was built when Germany invaded Crete in 1941 and at 17.45 was where the machine gun was mounted. There is also another gun emplacement just as you go into the town at the top of the hill. It's quite hard to see from the road so ask a local to show you. Great video.
That thing you did not recognise is for a gun. You put a gun through the tube and it turns on the ball you could see. I am guessing it was for coastal defence.
