Don't know what it's worth but, I own an Australian release of The Beatles "White Album" on White Vinyl! A needle has never touched it. Also includes a picture of each member. I purchased it in the early 90's. Any information on what I have?
Thanks for the "shout out"! I got to go to Abbey Road to watch them cut the mono edition of "The Beatles" (the "White Album") and hold the master tapes in my hands. Quite a thrill. An Abbey Road rep had called to invite me over to watch. A few points: Geoff Emerick brought the master tape of "Sgt. Peppers..." to Masterdisk in NYC for a potential 30th anniversary CD reissue (Greg Calbi had moved from Sterling to Masterdisk for a short time and he's Paul's favorite mastering engineer) in 1997 but it never happened. I helped them get a Studer deck like the one used to master the original LP and my "gift" was to get to hear the tape and talk with Geoff. I also brought the Mobile Fidelity version of "Sgt. Peppers..." and played it for Emerick who declared it "rubbish" because of the "smiley face" EQ. More recently I lobbied Apple Corps' President Jeff Jones about re-pressing the mono box and about a "UHQR" type all-tube AAA stereo cut of "Sgt. Peppers"... but he was not at all interested for reasons I won't discuss here, but I'll keep trying. You didn't mention the Japanese red Odeon mono releases from 1982. They are very good but the mono box now out of print is sonically better.
Thanks for chiming in Michael and sharing those stories. A couple I think I’ve heard from you before but some new bits. I know of and have heard the Red Japanese set but it’s one I don’t have. Just passed me by. 8 years since the mono box is like a lifetime now in terms of the vinyl revival so hopping Jeff and the Fabs see the light. Personally I’d love an all new analogue stereo box. Side one of Help is not good in mono and Beatles For Sale is better in stereo. One man’s opinion. Absolutely 100% behind you (and Michael) on this. An all analogue re-release of the mono box set or even better an all analogue remastered stereo box set of all their albums, cut by Bernie Grundman/ Kevin Gray would be a dream release. Even if they just started with individual releases, I would be super happy. But don't spread the campaign over too many years, some of us aren't that young.
Good idea Mazi.👍 I luckily have two blue The Beatles Collection BC13 stereo box sets, one is from the Netherlands and the second is from Sweden, and both sound really great.
As someone who was late to collecting Beatles vinyl (didn’t start till 2017), it kills me that the mono box set is so expensive now. So wish I could go back in time. As much as I want it, just seems silly to pay the crazy prices being asked in the resale market. Fingers crossed that someday they reissue it - but I’m not holding my breath 😞
Couldn't agree more, I enjoy your subtle outrage about these not being in print. I happen to have the white mono box and two blue boxes, all lovely. I'd scoop up both a new mono and stereo box for sure. I COMPLETELY agree with the profile of the box point you made, unless these giant boxes unfold into a 2 cube kallax, I'm out.
Thanks Mazzy for making the plug for releasing all of the Beatles catalogue on analogue. I bought the stereo CD box set of the Beatles albums back around the time it was issued and have enjoyed it. However, as I've really gotten back into collecting vinyl again I would seriously consider getting an analogue version of all of their albums if they are released.
Dear Norman, Thanks a lot for this video. Yes, please! I would be in for both - analog mono and analog stereo boxes. I am quite happy with my German 1978 BC13 box, but a true UK version of the stereo and the mono box would be a dream come true.
I absolutely agree with every word Norman. It is actually hard to fathom why we don't have these repressed given vinyls resurgence and how popular Get Back was. I respect Giles Martins work, but I'm getting sceptical about all of the remixes and reissues. We need these releases in mono and audiophile now.
I still remember I went with an old friend to buy records, a late friend. It was around 40 years ago. He went specifically to buy that beautiful Beatles blue box (yes, the same britsh version that you had there). Not USA, not Europe. At that time I can not affort that costs (around 25$!!!!), my consolation prize was a LP from strange group that I did not hear about too much, an LP with a beatifull sleeve design that capture my attention at the time, a strange group called Rush, the album: Moving Pictures. I still remember to saw, months latter, the japanesse version of the blue box, yes, the same one that you had there!!! at a crazy priza of around 40$!!!! Too much, We were very young to affort prizes like that.
Super Mazzy, great! The Beatles must be available in mono and stereo, and in analogue! Always and for everyone! On vinyl! Exactly and it's amazing that this is not the case! Unbelievable! Why???
Speaking about stereo, I can remember being in a grocery store that had record section in 1970 or 71. My friend and I were debating about stereo or mono. His convincing argument was, you want to hear different sounds coming from each speaker than just one. Now I look for that mono sound. Being a guy on a pension I have to spend my shekels well. But I would die for a mono box set of the Beatles. I’ll have to hit my kids up for Father’s Day. :).
@@mazzysmusic I love my original stereos and the 70/80s reissues but I do believe there is still a lot of life in those master tapes and with the right mastering engineer and pressing plant, could be phenomenal. Let me hear John's toggle switch before his solo on "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"!
Firstly thank you for your great channel and being yourself. My first musical memory was probably She loves you! My first proper wage I bought Pepper and Revolver (UK). Still don't own all the vinyl albums have the cd's. Box sets. So yes please Apple mono/stereo single/doubles/box sets. Let's have them all. P.S. Hollywood Bowl 64/65 complete shows as a double? Then we want the official bootleg series....
101% agree!!! I was lucky I was able to buy the vinyl mono boxset during a Thanksgiving Day sale at Amazon when it was still available. But I’m still craving for the analog stereo mix with the corrections on Beatles’ voices panning to one side and the instruments to the other.
Can’t believe this, I’am 69 and just take it for granted that The Beatles analog has always been available, I always thought that the original albums were produced in there millions and easy to buy in the second hand market! 🤷♂️. I have all the Beatle albums from original release and Sgt Pepper in mono and stereo, keep the flame 🔥 burning!
Well done, Mazzy. Important stuff. I've got some, but not all, of their original releases, of The Beatles from Rubber Soul to the end, Lennon's work through the late '80s, in the American issues, but I'd love to have access to some high end re-engineered releases. Thank you. P.S. I had a moment of clarity, on a school bus, in the mid-60s. I heard, in my mind, "The Beatles will be the classical music of the future." I think, maybe, we are about there, my friend. === Peace.
I got a copy if the Blue Box, gold lettering for a song about ten tears ago. Also picked up two copies of the Mono Boxset when it was first released, and sold one for cost.
Informative video and that’s some Beatles collection you have. I’d definitely buy both the Mono box set repress and an all analogue stereo version. I’d probably also get them for my daughter. Desperate for these to be released.
Interesting video Mazzy. I have the BC13 box but Australian & Dutch pressings. Also own the MFSL plus Stereo & Mono remasters boxes on CD & LP. I don't have a problem with the digital remasters personally. I can't really hear the difference aside from the fact that they do sound really good to my ears. So I'm not clamouring for another analogue stereo remaster of them. Cheers 👍
I agree with you Mazzy. That said, I’m not sure if telling the Beatles estate that the tapes are not the Dead Sea scrolls etc is going to land with them. Those tapes are arguably a lot more important to them than those scrolls! I can understand their apprehension to move or touch them. That said, I do think there is a higher cultural argument for releasing these AAA in both Stereo and Mono. I think an argument could be made that these albums should always be available in AAA at a reasonable price. The Beatles are much more than a band. Leading with digital is sort of like showing the Mona Lisa in HD at the Louvre rather than in the flesh. Okay not the best analogy (pun intended) but you get my meaning. Anyway, thank you for making this video. I enjoyed Michaels too. Anything to nudge this back into the conversation is fine by me. I actually missed the box set myself and bought each record privately at expense to cobble together my set. I adore it but I do feel the Beatles is for everyone, not just those that ca afford these premium prices. I hope the younger generations in the Beatles circle might take a position on this. Oh and yes, i agree 100%, if the tapes are taken out they should go to BG or KS. Someone of that calibre. Let’s go definitive, that’d be my thinking. Again thanks for the video. Love the channel.
Simplicity and laziness is the reason for all of the digital files sourced Beatle records. Mastering engineers in the UK are attached to their computers by the hip.
my old original beatles and stones sound great ,i just found a stones lp called gimmey shelter with live tracks on one side and singles on the other its original and analogue ,it sounds fantastic ...and it was only 10 bucks
Excellent video and ideas.I have excellent UK box sets of the stereo vinyl Lps and Eps and LOVE them both...now I just need to buy a new turntable. Anyone please recommend an excellent turn table brand. Super thanks!
Was recently shopping at Amoeba in Hollywood, CA. There was a copy of The Beatles 2014 mono box set. It was locked up in a glass case, asking price; $1,500. Yes, We need analog mono rereleased; NOW!
Please Please Us! Yes, we need this. When I started getting more into vinyl in 2017-18 I was not aware that the Mono Box was poised to first, get rare and then quite expensive, and then disappear. It was one reason I wanted to collect vinyl, but even then it was on a special shelf and $400+. I just didn't know how modern vinyl releases worked yet really and never expected this. Aside from my vintage pickups and existing hand me downs, I only have been able to find a single new all analog Beatles album, Revolver - Mono release. I would have many more if available. Why not repress and release them individually too and give people a chance to buy them for a reasonable price. Sure make both boxes too, but you don't need as many. Realistically, people will get Hard Days Night, Help, Please Please me and Magical Mystery Tour before they get Beatles for Sale, Yellow Submarine and With the Beatles. Sad, but realistic. Also, demand would be a smidge lower for Sgt. Peppers and White Album given their recent well made (albeit not analog) releases. My dream - All analog Rubber Soul set with both UK and US versions, cut by BG, CB, KG, or RKS.
One thing to remember on the BC-13 Blue and the Mono Black box are simply stock lps that they put in a box. Nothing was handpicked and sq can vary as matrices vary also. Still very good, but some folks have the misconception that those sets are the end all be all of stereo and mono. Again not saying they arent very good. But sq can vary. Went through three of them and scooping up individual releases from that time period in order to frankenstien the best possible sound within reason. However, that was when prices were $150.00 for the Blue Box set. Which leads right back to the discussion: We shouldnt have to run around trying to buy up stereo sets in order to achieve in a much lesser way what Abbey Road and the powers that be could make right in a consistent manner.
YES!!! This a bit off topic but now that Peter Jackson’s crew developed machine learning to restore the Beatles’ music for the Get Back documentary, Apple should take a look at fixing the audio from primitive early recordings and live sessions from Hamburg. And other live sessions drowned out by the screams for the matter.
Good video. They should strike while the iron is hot. 🍳📼⚫ I'm happy with my vintage UK copies but modern analogue records would be nice so I would consider buying it.
Can someone explain to me why it is necessary to go back to the tapes at all. Why can't you use the original moulds (not sure of correct term) that were used to press the records from without having to recut a new one from the tapes? Aren't they kept or do they wear out? BTW I think a slimline mono box would be great.
The mono Los could probably be pressed as I assume the metal work is still available. I think the stereo would have to go back to the tapes because analogue stereo haven’t been done since the mid 1980s I think.
Hi from Ireland Norm, the reason I heard for no more Beatles mono box set is, they, Apple, lost so.much money on the set, not sure how but this the story! How you get over that issue I am not sure, but I do agree the mono box set needs the upgrade! Ken, Dublin City, Ireland
Agreed, Mazzy. do the analog monos again; now. Need the stereos as well. The secondary market is absurd. My first generation Parlophone copies need a break. A re-press of the smaller boxes makes the most sense. We don't need the books, just the lps.
I don’t care who does the cutting, if it’s anywhere as good as the mono box I’ll be happy. Cmon Apple! (Add it to the wish list that already includes deluxe sets for the rest of the albums, let it be/get back on blu ray, Shea,D.C., Tokyo live anthology, Xmas album, U.S. vinyl box etc etc etc
Great video Mazzy..I enjoyed Michael’s take as well..I think we may get an analogue stereo at some point..not sure they would reproduce the mono box..it would be awesome if they did..I am a mono pepper guy, mostly because it was the mono I bought in 1967 and I never heard the stereo until I got a seventies reissue at some point. So the mono brings back memories for me..👍❤glen
Mazz, i couldn't agree more brother and i personally IMPLORE SEAN & YOKO, OLIVIA AND DANI, SIR PAUL AND RINGO, UMG AND APPLE to for the re-press of the Mono box and an analog stereo pressing box set. i just have never understood UMG's and Apples' total lack of busienss sense on this issue as both companies are in it for the money-well sweet baby jesus it's looking at you straight in the face-and the fans are begging and demanding it. just us hardcore and audiophiles alone will sell these out not to mentioned the average and casual vinyl record buying public at this current point in time that has literally exploded in the last 6-7 years. I ESPECIALLY IMPLORE SEAN AND DANI because they are the next generation and the future of the greatest music group in the history of music. it's music history, it's our history, it's an archival MUST and MUST be done in this manner for the ages. it's OUR love of one the greatest bands in music history!!!!!!
"These aren't the Dead Sea Scrolls" no they are much more important than that. That said you are right those masters or even the analogue copies of the masters need to be used and full mono and stereo records need to be available.
Hi Mozzy love your show on TH-cam been watching it for several years I'm Gennaro from Puerto Rico and I think it's a wonderful idea to have the stereo box in analog and also with the original Master tapes and also the mono box set in analog it will be great and a lot of people will enjoy I stick up for you man you're doing a wonderful job peace and love and I hope it does work out for everybody take care see you on TH-cam.
I'm expecting 60th Anniversary editions starting in 2023. My dream would be nice all analogue stereo and mono releases of the albums, but I'm used to having my dreams crushed when it comes to Beatles' releases.
Well done Michael and Norman…hope Beatles family and Apple hear you!! It’s actually nor normal ,in the vinyl peak interest in 2022, ,not to have the greatest band in analog …

Here here. Exactly. Lots of folks buying vinyl today were not nto it 5-6 years ago ✌🏼
I said the same Rubber Soul, Revolver, stereo mono all analog U.K. and U.S.(Capitol Records) would be great…!
right on in every way!
Which leads right back to the discussion:
We shouldnt have to run around trying to buy up stereo sets in order to achieve in a much lesser way what Abbey Road and the powers that be could make right in a consistent manner.
Amen, well put.
I'm happy with my vintage UK copies but modern analogue records would be nice so I would consider buying it.

Yes!!!
Have ERC do the mastering but the packaging plating pressing handled by someone else in the UK so ERC can’t charge 236k. The tapes can stay in the UK.
Nice shirt. That's where I buy my records.
Cool shop ✌🏼
I was lucky enough to get my mono box for $200 a few years back. It’s a different monster.
You mean the price now is a different monster....lol
Agreed, Mazzy. do the analog monos again; now. Need the stereos as well. The secondary market is absurd. My first generation Parlophone copies need a break. A re-press of the smaller boxes makes the most sense. We don't need the books, just the lps.
Agree as you know ✌🏼
Sgt. Pepper must be listened in mono and stereo! And in the format you enjoy the most.
Somebody go peacefully to Abbey Road studio and hold up a banner with the slogan: BEATLES ANALOG 2022!!!🕶🎸
Yes!!! Please!!!
Maybe the "Please, Please, Please" at the end will get it done. Thanks again!
Yes
Totally agree with you Mazzy !✌🎶✌
I don’t care who does the cutting, if it’s anywhere as good as the mono box I’ll be happy. Cmon Apple! (Add it to the wish list that already includes deluxe sets for the rest of the albums, let it be/get back on blu ray, Shea,D.C., Tokyo live anthology, Xmas album, U.S. vinyl box etc etc etc
My black mono box set is number 320, what's yours?
Reel To Reel is the only way to go. Got Sergeant Pepper’s coming!
You don’t mention Julian Lennon
PREACH! 🙌🏻
Yeah we are hanging up in them 🤠😵💫😎✌🏼
Bought the Dylan mono box. Need the Beatles and Stones, then I will finally be happy.
I would appreciate all analogue individual albums: Rubber Soul, Revolver, White Album and Abbey Road pressed by Pallas or QRP.
I can't disagree with that.
Thank you so much ✌🏼
I'm expecting 60th Anniversary editions starting in 2023.
No more Bugs-Roaches love Vinyl be careful when you open your old records Roaches love Vinyl
