I use positive reinforcement and force-free training to achieve this level of trust and bond with sweet little Ashling. Punishment will ruin your bond with your parrot!
I just brought home a new hand fed Lorie today (Olive Rainbow) named it Pickles!. So far it is still getting used to its new surroundings and I imagine it will be awhile before it starts letting me play with it at this level but I can hardly wait. It went from a crowded 20 gallon aquarium with 5 other lories to a huge 60" x 30" x 30" cage. I have been in learning mode soaking up everything I can find about Lories.
Lorikeets are not as well covered are they But I e been getting amazing results with mind following bird tricks - they really really know how to train and keep your bird healthy
@@JanusHoW Unfortunately Pickles is no longer with me, He was turning into such a great bird! My fault really I thought I had him trained well enough along with the family dogs, we all would hang out and everyone got along. About 3 months after I posted here, he jumped down off his cage and I wasn't in the room and one of the dogs decided to use him as a play toy. I was totally devastated. I have been waiting for the last of the two dogs to pass away until I try again with another bird I figured it would be better this way.Whenever I see people letting their dogs play with their birds I freak out even small dogs which are even worse.
The lorikeet enjoys this lol you can clearly tell, I do the exact same thing with my lori and when he’s had enough from playing he’ll either move away or bite harder, which this Lori isn’t doing either
