Good morning. I enjoyed the UFL product last year. I think they are stabilizing the league and thus giving it credibility. Expansion will certainly follow, but the calls to add lots of teams immediately didn't make sense to me. The attendance figures are the most concerning, to me. Even with decent or acceptable TV ratings, I wonder about the financial impact of opening those big stadiums with such little in-person revenue. Small crowds also fuel concerns that the league isn't sustainable. Lastly, keeping the teams in their markets is crucial to the perception of sustainability. Folding and/or moving teams keeps fans from investing time and money, not just in the affected markets.

I think this year will be huge for the UFL to find its footing. As Johnston said in the video, the football is "propped up" and now they can focus on some of the other things in the off-season.

John, are you planning a podcast regarding the Oakland A's situation? I'd be interested in your thoughts. As lifelong Expos fans, we understand more than anyone in baseball, if I may be so bold. There is a Netflix series about the Expos coming up - painful, even after twenty years. I attended the last series in the Olympic Stadium in 2004. The Coliseum scene yesterday brought all the memories back for me. The hope of Spring Training, no matter how poor a season that just ended, is always there - we think. For A's fans, the temporary move (?) to Sacramento is different - proximity, media market, etc. - but I wonder how many fans will tag along. For me, I left MLB for fifteen years, returning to watch the Nationals with my buddy throughout their amazing 2019 season. Then, the pandemic hit, and I wasn't interested in the ridiculousness that followed with the fishbowl "championship" the Dodgers claimed as legitimately equal to previous World Series titles. The situation in Oakland has incrementally moved me toward MLS apathy, again. Any insights specifically about that situation or in the broader picture? Cheers.

I'm not a baseball guy, just football. But I'm sure there's plenty out there about it!

I have not heard anything to the contrary. The only announcements so far from Houston was thankfully they're leaving Rice Stadium.

ELI5 why anybody should trust a word out of his mouth or Russ Brandon’s mouth after both failed to get these leagues any sort of growth after multiple seasons?

The three key ingredients for any business to be successful are location , location, and location ie, you can't sell snowmobiles in Alabama. To that end the keys to a successful sports league is stability, stability, and stability.
I applaud the UFL for their slow and methodical approach towards building this league. Had that approach been implemented in the 1980's the USFL ( my Stallions) would in all probability be celebrating their 43rd year of existence.
So, in that spirit, let's all get behind this league and make it the success we all hope it can be . Giddy up , and go Stallions.
