I've been wondering why no one ever talks about Salvador Dali fragrances. I notice some of the lines are hard to find in the USA in general. Trying to avoid blind buying but it is hard since there are not many reviews. The bottles for the luxury line are gorgeous. Thank you for this video

Maria you just caused me an "ah ha" moment. You're so right, a lot of perfumes in the late 90's - early 2000's carried themselves like a straight line of potency and developed differently on the skin than modern perfumes today. Maybe this is what marked the signature for 90's and 2000's perfumes that I could never put my finger on.
hehe, absolutely - that's the generation of early millenials was raised on! Powerhouse, linear punchy formulas with significant deviation from french florals. The latter also can be quite loud and voluminous, but that's the 70s and 80s. 90s has a boom of new odorant molecules invented, ozonic-oceanic ones most noticeably. oh I wish I could muscle my willpower and finally write a small book on that era. so much to remember!
@@MariaMeliora Well said! "Significant deviation from french florals" is absolutely accurate and how I remember NOT wanting to smell as a preteen and into my later teens. My nose was trained to crave aquatics, fresh fruities and the occasional warm musk. Then came my twenties, where an interest and curiosity for a wider range of scent profiles was born. I feel like my brain can now reason with the what's and why's of my perfume choices back then, thanks to your simple yet profound comment on the issue. I would love to see you write a book on perfume history! Or even an E-book or course, as many TH-camrs do! The latter might be the way to go as it seems the path of least resistance, and from what I understand, a fairly linear process! 🤗
You really piqued my interest in this house! It's been in my peripheral view for awhile but I think I'll actually try them out.
To answer your question about whether it's a good idea to perfume shop by the perfumer/nose, I personally don't do that because a single person can make a huge range of different types of scents and they're not all going to be my favorite type. Within a house, you might get a cohesive vibe, but even there you'll run into disappointment unless, maybe, you're into gourmands and you're shopping Comptoir Sud Pacific (to use your example).

so true, there are star perfumers who have dozens (if not more) releases popping every year, all over the olfactory design map. Yet some others had an extremely focused and unified profile to their creations. To me later work of Jean Claude Ellena is so focused, that if you know you do (or don't) like one of his latest perfumes, you can easily map that onto the others made in the same period.

Maria, thanks for this video. Perfumes by Salvador Dali are really worth to be raised from deep waters of modern perfume production. I think anyone can find at least one perfume for himself among Salvador Dali's products. Some of them are really cheap smelling, some of them are strange and should be called niche perfumes and some are just great to wear. My favourites are Laguna, Ocelot edp, and Parfum de Toilet version of classic Salvador Dali lips (transparent bottle), and Classic pour Homme. Laguna and Classic pour Homme really sound like niche.
oh how interesting, what I haven't ventured into their homme fragrances much, beyond laguna homme. What is classic pour homme like?

Maria, your first perfume is pronounced in Catalan: Kah De KAYS, with the accent on the last syllable. Named after the lovely, seaside town near Dali’s villa. Google the town to see what I mean. You look like a famous model and your knowledge is just as impressive!

Maria, thank You so much for this video! I'm in love with bottles of SD, not parfums sometimes, but bottles))) As a parfum i like Le roy soleil, Purplelips sensual and Laguna. Dalissime is not so bad. Most of parfumes of SD are very strange for me, but even in this case they attract my attention.
oh Le Roy Soleil is a rarity these days. First rendered for the haute couture fashion house of Elsa schiaparelli, later migrated to Dali's own line:)
I care about Salvadore Dali scents. I’ve always loved the black and will love the black until the day I die, I’m sure! But as you say, they ARE getting very difficult to find. :-(

Loved your video. Thank you! Laguna was my perfume for years. Maybe you can help me. My mother used to wear dalimix the original. She passed away 12 years ago and I miss her ever since. I have an empty bottle she used to own, and I occasionally sniff to bring her back for a while. I am trying to purchase a new one but realised it was decontinued. I even wrote the company with no luck. The few that I find on ebay won't ship to my country (israel), for some reason. Do you have an idea of any perfume that resembles it? Thank you❤

Edit: I find the subject of Salvador Dali very interesting - my uncle has quite a lot of his art work and those "melted" clocks. So it was soothing to hear all the detail... being quite sleep deprived I nodded off 😂😴💤

Salvador Dali fragrances are the scents of my childhood😌 I find that I really love fragrances from Michel Almairac. One time I discovered that all my full size bottles are from him🤔

I had not heard of them until I got a sample of "ruby lips" which I HATED because it smelled like prune juice on my skin. But im going to give them another chance after watching and get laguna.
haven't tried that one, i vaguely remember that all their kiss line is just that - synthetic syrups, which is so strange considering the other classics they have!
I love Ruby Lips, I get many compliments when I wear it and stays on quite long, sadly Sea and Sun is so fresh that fades away too fast on me..

Раньше, в начале 2000гг многие пользовались этой парфюмерией, и что-то осталось в памяти, и когда я в этом году заказала себе Laguna - то отчётливо вспомнила этот запах🙄🙄🙄 - такие ароматы я раньше не любила)) Для меня он звучит химозно - монолитно, солёности и кокоса я не почувствовала; в Лагуне себя не представила))) А вот, второй заказанный аромат мне очень понравился - Sea & Sun in Cadaques - все, что есть в названии, я ощущаю, и не только это 🌞🌻🦋!
Маша, спасибо за обзоры и советы - благодаря вам я снова стала интересоваться и изучать этот бренд - есть в нем достойные кандидаты для моего вкуса))
Кстати Laguna мне напоминает Littl black dress от Avon - этот более мягче, свежее - его ношу под настроение))
В целом бренд мне нравится - художественное оформление флаконов, доступная цена и ароматы - воспоминания)))
many of these indeed have a linear, mono-accord type of construction, typical for the 90s - this was THE trend back in the day.
