You did an amazing job with the trapping, and by far it was the best I've seen from anyone for at least a few years! There is one concept I ponder about. At the 20:50 mark, you were saying that most of these Red Tailed Hawks die in their first year from parasites. I've always thought that starvation was the main reason these hawks don't survive, especially in colder climates where food is scarce. I am glad you did what you could to help these hawks greaten their chances of survival! Even though none of these hawks you showed ended up as a Falconry bird, it does seem like they can hunt very well without any difficulty! I couldn't imagine there would be a need to keep any of them!
Valid reasoning, starvation is a factor, but what is a reason for starvation? Lack of catching enough food, lack of calories from food caught? Calories being depleted by parasites? It all plays together, I like to think I did just enough to help at least one of these magnificent birds to survive this coming winter.
Long time birder. Raptors are my favorite to photograph. Falconers are amazing people and a major reason that many species have been able to make comebacks ie peregrine falcons. From me to you, thank you for your interest and hard work.

Related is seems: Hippoboscidae, the louse flies or keds, are obligate parasites of mammals and birds. In this family, the winged species can fly at least reasonably well, though others with vestigial or no wings are flightless and highly apomorphic. As usual in their superfamily Hippoboscoidea, most of the larval development takes place within the mother's body, and pupation occurs almost immediately.[2]
In Wisconsin I have noticed deer ked on ruffed grouse popped up about 8 years ago. Some birds are covered in them.
