They are very interesting birds! I wouldn't be opposed to getting another one some day, especially to hunt sparrows and starlings in the off season for the Red-Tails.
What a stoop! Scarlett is going to be one epic hawk. And it was very cool to see a kestrel on voles, usually you only see people hunting birds with them. Makes me want to go vole or mouse hunting with a Eurasian Kestrel at some point in the future. Those small rodents are just as worthy quarry as anything else!
I like American Kestrels but there are too many other birds of prey that want to eat them. I've had Red-tails go after my kestrels and a Cooper's hawk killed my last kestrel while field hawking. I fly Red-tails now and unfortunately will never fly another kestrel.
Oh wow. I have not heard of that happening to any falconers around me, but could see it happening. If you watch closely in this video, there's a Cooper's following Scarlett when she was going after that rabbit.
Well I’ve tried, probably a Facebook thing. No luck on they’re website. My number is in state system, I’ve gotten one call from a guy three hundred miles south of me, I’m buying vehicle today in case I have to travel to sponsor. Again I was led to believe if I put in the work I would reap the rewards, so far a phone call can’t be made. I pray it’s not a popularity contest, I’ve never won one of those. Frustrated? Kinda.
You'll need to go to a state club meet / picnic and network with falconers. Or the NAFA meet. No one here in Ohio would sponsor someone over the phone or through FB.

It's definitely a quarry to keep the Kestrels busy when the sparrows and starlings move out!
I didn't know about group hunting! Great hunt and camera work!
Thanks Scott! It was a lot of fun!
Wow that video was so amazing looks like so much fun. Your bird is so beautiful..
Thanks Ken! It was fun filming it.
She’s a beautiful bird! Happy hawking man!
Thanks Tony, you as well!
I need a sponsor, MDWFP has my info.12/3/24 north central Mississippi. Seriously
Have you reached out to your state club?
Ok was not asking for sponsor up there, I thought someone down here would see this post.
Yes I'm just saying you may want to attend a state club meet or picnic near you or a surrounding state.
