Watching him play this with Megadeth again was a spiritual experience. I love Kiko Loureiro and thinks he's a phenomenal musician but when Marty played it I literally cried. Not just because its been 20 years coming but it feels totally different when the creator is playing their own piece. Megadeth has had some great guitarist since Marty but only he knows the purpose of every note and what he wants out if it, and I FELT that. It really hit different and flowed better than someone copying it, and that's no shade to all the greats that came after him.
@@alexb8560 This post had nothing to do with you. We're talking about a great moment in metal history that a lot of us have been hoping for in over 20 years. So nobody cares about your negative energy. Take it somewhere else. But since you want attention so much here you go. 🍪 Enjoy.
@@alexb8560 Well geez. And all this time I wasted over 30 years of my life working hard to earn a 6 figure salary, have a nice home and 2 cars in the driveway. Kiko is good in Megadeth, but for me Marty is the no 1 Megadeth guitarist. Never forget: Kiko's has to play Marty's solo's, not reversed. Besides: this is officially the best metalsolo ever.
Marty is a master, and his imprint on Megadeth is legendary. But, Kiko is an overall better guitarist, has much more musical knowledge and styles, and had he been the guitarist in 1990, we wouldn't be talking about Marty. Dave gave Marty the platform for greatness, so it's not just that Marty is great, but he had greatness to play with. This solo, in particular doesn't hit the same way it does in Megadeth. There is a vast difference between what he is doing here and what he did a few nights ago. Kiko just happens to be in the band at the backside of Megadeth's career. And Dave isn't on drugs. He isn't writing the riffs he wrote back then, in an era when thrash was king. Marty was still on albums up to Risk, and many faux fans stopped listening after Youthanasia. People want Marty from 1990, and he isn't that player anymore. Kiko is that player and I would rather have him, than a Marty whose heart isn't into Megadeth.
@@itsalwayssomething7490 No kiko isn’t a better guitarist, two different musicians, different souls and if it wasn’t for Marty helping Dave in the early 90s” Megadeth would’ve never made it to the big 4 and get that respect.
@@Ramm_J I think he may actually be the more technically accomplished player between the two. Saying that doesn’t discredit Marty at all. My buddy thinks that Chris Broderick was the most technically accomplished guitarist that Megadeth ever had, and Marty is his favorite guitarist, so him saying that isn’t saying Marty isn’t great. I think the whole conversation is a bit silly because there were guitarists like Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth could smoke em when they were alive. There’s players like Paul Gilbert and Michael Romeo who are likely more accomplished. Hell, just look at what Jason Becker did what, 35 years ago?
@@itsalwayssomething7490 The most legendary Megadeth albums and songs, are the ones that feature Marty; thus his inbring is way greater than Kiko's, sorry to say

Yeah, it was just last night and I almost didn’t go. Got my ticket just two hours before. I realized this would be as close I’d get to see Megadeth from the 90s.
Uh........I don't think Marty wrote any of the riffs......he joined the band after all the tracks were recorded. He simply stepped in and wrote some solos for some songs. If you listen to the riffs, they're, totally 1,000% Mustaine.
Who are the rest in this band playing with Marty? And did Marty just decide on a whim to get on a plane to Florida after taking the stage with Megadeth in Tokyo or was this planned? So many questions about this clip.
im just freaking floored , i dont know why but i thought marty died 20 yr ago, i really did ! all these damn years hes alive , glad hes alive but pisses me off some dumbass had to tell me that
Too many mistakes with skills that were not as good as before, probably because of individual activities rather than band activities. Comparison with the active Kiko is irrational. He was good
….the laid back-behind the beat feel….those bends. NO one plays like Marty. 🙏🏻

Marty Friedman on lead guitar and The Babadook on drums! Powerful combination.
LOL
Wow I can’t believe I missed this!!!
I know..nobody really promoted it he was supporting Queensryche here so concert calendar usa Florida listed it as Queensryche....😴
Had the privilege of seeing him with Megadeth in 1992..Pantera supporting in Newport UK.Gig was unreal..Dime and Pantera were amazing.Take me back 🙏🏻😫
Out of all the old timer rockers, Marty’s hair has definitely held up best.
It’s unbelievable right?!?!
No 😂. Kirk hammets has. And the fact he shortened it in 1997-1998 and it still grew back fresh is more impressive
@@Taxable_Trophy Marty definitely has better hair

Marty is amazing and the band hasn't been the same since he left in my opinion. I still love Kiko. He's a great player, but Marty is the goat.
More like, MARTIAN Friedman, dude is out of this world.
He is pretty good to cover that solo.

It's Daves riff lol.

y'all, he didn't even look at his fretboard the whole time he shreds that solo
He's played it thousands of times for over 30 years. He can play it in his sleep.
You never have to look at the fretboard to play the stuff you write yourself. It's perfectly crafted to your playing style.
Guitar is like a part of his body. Mindblowing man! 🤯
Marty wearing his KISS boots, cool
Marty friedman has a unique playing, you can keep out marty style playing out of the rest of other guitar gods!!! That's why I like marty playing
do you have his set list? Which albums did he play?
thanks!
This is the Eruption of Megadeth.
dang dude im going apr 5th :)
Why not have Kiko and Marty on one Megadeth Album, how cool was that.
Uuuhh and Dave does what? Just sing? Or each get to play 1 part? Think it through, would never work. Plus Dave... well you know.

Why is Marty playing with 13 year olds
They look younger in Japan.......my 40 year old wife is Japanese, she looks young enough that she gets carded every time she buys a bottle of wine.
