    In this tutorial I show you how to make a rubber band powered catapult out of PVC plastic pipe. It is a small desktop sized catapult and easy to make. PVC is plastic pipe that is readily available at all hardware stores and it is very inexpensive. Same thing with all the fittings and elbows you see in the catapult. You can get them right off the shelf and they are very cheap.
    Just about the only thing you need to make this catapult is some kind of a saw to cut the plastic pipe. It is the perfect catapult project if you don't have any woodworking stuff. Any kind of small handsaw would work.
    Even a serrated kitchen knife can cut this plastic pvc piping but.... get an adults help with that. And don't use a kitchen knife without a parents permission!
    I give you a complete parts list so you can get all the parts and put the catapult together quickly and easily.
    The tutorial and template for this catapult are on my website here:

    I think my niece and nephew would really like one of these. Also with that design you it would float (or you could attach foam noodles on to it). So you could use it in a pool, lake, or river. This is pretty awesome!

    • @jlacson74
      @jlacson74 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We finished it. Just about $12 in parts. Works great. We used a plastic golf ball and it went about 30 feet. I may have went overboard with the rubber bands. It will definitely clear the end to end of the classroom. My son can't wait. He said his classmates are making their catapults out of little popsicle sticks (I have seen those videos LOL). I did buy a PVC cement but I don't think it is necessary. Also, I sanded and oiled where there is friction. I am not sure it made much of a difference but when without the rubber band, the pole moves a lot smoother. Thanks again.

      The structure of this catapult will achieve that but... the rubber bands are not enough. 2 pounds is a pretty heavy weight. Might want to switch to something stronger like bungee cords possibly. It will take some experimentation.
