I love how colin furze never calmed down. I've been watching him since his old videos where he put pulse jets on damn near anything he could, I love seeing that he's just as crazy as he's always been. Absolute fuckin legend.
That quad pilot is incredible. Hard to imagine how he was able to keep track of the objects with the typical abysmal FPV goggle resolution. Respect.

Actually Colin, they were as inaccurate 'back then' as they are now. The builders were just as embarrased when they missed things and, because it so often upset the king so much that he'd have the operator's head chopped orf, they decided it would be safer (for them) if they aimed at larger targets. Such as castles...
That's the real reason why they became known as a siege weapon, purely because it allowed those charged with aiming them living longer because they didn't miss their target.

In game they also depicted it perfectly. Trebs have terrible accuracy against units except hun and britons....but 100 percent accuracy for building
The fireball is terrifying, imagine yourself in middle ages, living behind castle walls and seeing +10 fireballs raining from sky.

For the sling I think you should make a 2 part metal cup that opens up (perhaps violently with an electronic release that is determined by the angle of the swing. That way you can have a reliable release and hit stuff.

i will admit this is dangerous but its not the most reliable weapon (bearings not withstanding the force after X shots, the sling release and the fact that it doesnt fly true theres also the size of projectile, a tebuche this size SHOULD be able to toss something about twic the size and weight of the thing hes using

A decent way to improve accuracy would be to add a rotating track for the payload and sling to follow, it would also allow for better aiming without moving the whole trebuchet, though a track isn't needed for aiming, just slide the end of the sling and the payload to the left or right before launch, all a track would do is make that more consistent

I think for consistant results the peojectile has to be a sphere. There is a short documentary about this medieval club that has built its own trebuchet as close as possible to original ones and after tweaking it for a day they managed to hit the same target over and over.

And to improve sling durability while increasing the strength to weight ratio, you should try a Kevlar sling. Mark Rober made a huge trampoline that bounced a car with Kevlar!

Furze! I know I'm late to the barbecue, but if you're going for distance you should shorten that sling by a few feet- longer slings get you great height but not so much distance, that's why you had a great big arc but it was chucking stuff into the ground...

Aerodynamics do not really matter much when the projectile is of this size. Just by looking, you wouldnt see the difference between an engine block or a sphere of the same weight. With meassurements it is of course, but it is a negligible difference. AND moreover, we are waching Colin Furse here, and what is more epic, a canonball or a flying car???
I mean, why not both. Also a cannon ball is going to go through stuff a lot better than a car will (the car'll just fall apart all things considered). Plus this is supposed to be medieval and cars were a hard ammunition type to find for your siege weapons. I mean motorcycles were everywhere, but cars hadn't quite taken off (Very bad pun intented).

Very fun. I have a guess as to why your trebuchet was inaccurate: ground friction of the sling. You need to fit the sling to a trough to keep it straight and for a smooth action, or have a shorter sling that rests on the ground and doesnt travel before launch.
