    Nice video, big country big tramp, I used to live in South Auckland years ago and be part of the South Auckland Tramping club down here now living the dream near Rangiora which has a tramping club. Don't tramp now due to My knees but really nice to see your adventures online, Thankyou.

      Hi. I suspect they were brought here for some reason & are now pests like many other introduced species.

    I walked the St. James Walkway about 40 years ago & Cannibal Hut was just started to be built. Your video was very interesting. But 11 days - you must have had heavy packs! Thank you for the great video. (I was a member of the Auck. CTC for many years).

      Yes, day one packs with 11 days food were heavy but manageable. Cannibal Gorge Hut now looking a bit tired, needs a spruce up.
