Well from Russian nerd perspective Warhammer and Imperium of man have allot of simmilarities. - Doube headed eagle for banners. - Autocratic rulers trough out the history (memes with Putin as Emperor of mankind been there for a long time.) - Imperial past of Russia - Dark age of technology being the advancements of Soviet Union and decline in technology after the fall. - War with Ukraine is similar with civil war of Horus Herecy where former brotherly nation strands away into hands of foreighn forces. - Or the great unifocation crusade of Russian lands. - Imperial guard being comprised of variety of people with different tactics doctrines and beliefs. Kozak riders, Siberian snipers, Caucasian storm triopers ext. - Mentality of stoicism and respect to the glory of past generations. For proofs just check the videos of "Warhammer Russia" on youtube. With the Millitary chirch of Russia being the Orthodox version of warhammer cathedrals with a lack of skulls.
Yep. Those things are exactly the reason why WH40 and Imperium are so beloved in Russia/Ukraine/Belarus. Our lore chanels about WH40 often are praised for quality of content and details. And more so - Saber Interactive is russian-based company, standing behind creation of Space Marine 2.
I have seen Ukrainians wearing 40k patches for a while (primarily guard inspired). But I don't think they do it unironically as the Russians are apparently doing according to this portrayal with those orthodox seals. As for Khorne, to quote Magnus from TTS: "Well, Khorne may be a force of merciless, mindless slaughter and hatred; but that's because he represents another natural concept: [...] He also represents justice, vengeance, and honour."

As a 40k fan, I have a divided opinion about this. On one hand, seeing these kinds of symbols or references makes me "happy" because it shows the extent of the 40k community and its "devotion." On the other hand, 40k is mostly a hobby or interest, so seeing this used in a political way disgusts me I would say. So I am not against its use in any way by soldiers as a talisman or symbol for their unit, but I clearly disapprove of its political use by any government. It is a bit niche, this episode, but I'm old enough to remember when Warhammer first came out over here in the UK although I never played it myself (D&D and Runequest were our favourites with a bit of Traveler thrown in). My eldest son avidly reads the Warhammer 40k books now, having found the genre independently. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, it would seem.

Purity seals are adorned by Space Marines, yes, but Sisters of Battle are the most widely users of them. Inquisition forces and even Imperial Guard (Astra Militarum) soldiers and officers wear them. It's never been to protect physicaly that the Imperium soldiers wear them, but to show their inyielding devotion and remind them of their faith, if need be.
Pretty sure it's also to add a bit of resistance to things like Chaos and such as well, but that logically only makes them a bigger target due to carrying the seals. Kinda like how you'd definitely go for the guy manning the heavy machine gun on the tripod first

Well from Russian nerd perspective Warhammer and Imperium of man have allot of simmilarities.
- Doube headed eagle for banners.
- Autocratic rulers trough out the history (memes with Putin as Emperor of mankind been there for a long time.)
- Imperial past of Russia
- Dark age of technology being the advancements of Soviet Union and decline in technology after the fall.
Literal genocide of Ukraine and Ukrainians presented as "unification crusade". Classic russia.
