Where have you been for the last 15 years? This is easier on the Foreign cars, it's just the bumper cover... the domestics are even more pain in the ass to change the bulbs!
This should be titled "How to Install/Uninstall Headlamp Assembly in a Hyundai Sonata". Excellent video otherwise. Very helpful with the location of fasteners and tools needed. Thank you for making this.
Dude you're my fucking hero. The manual only shows the three screws on top and mentions nothing about taking the bumper off to replace the turn signal bulb. Thanks so much!
This video shows you how to remove the ENTIRE headlight. If you just want to replace a lightbulb it’s relatively easy. All you have to do basically is open the hood and unscrew the cap behind the headlight and carefully unplug and remove the old bulb.
Not true. I have a Sonata I've changed the bulbs on both headlights myself and it's very easy. Each light has a cap behind it that you can easily remove. It makes no sense to remove the bumper.
Jordan smith GOD I HATE PEOPLE LIKE YOU. Literally makes me want to go make a video just to prove you wrong. Stop spreading information if you’re an uneducated fuck. What you said is sooooo false it hurts. Please stop giving false information if you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
Thanks man 4 real... I'm a woman and this video helped me save so much money, in my money range! It took me me 20 mins to do myself! ( might take more time if u actually have 2 take out all the screws that are suspose to be there) lol... Thanks man... This video is very accurate! I have no mechanical skill background prior to this video besides changing a tire... All the guys around here who seen me doing it myself was like wow and she got it on rite after inspecting my work after they were walking over toward me to help and see if I needed any help(NOPE)😅😅😅
OK this half of what I needed. I have a 2012 limited that the same light assembly is "working" but only produces 1/2 the light. Do I really need to remove the entire bumper? Secondly, could you please finish the installation process starting with the disconnecting of the wiring and reinstalling of a new headlight assembly? I can't believe policy think you need to do all this just to install a new bulb.
In my 2009 Sonata, I had to replace the low beam bulbs. All you had to do to replace the bulbs was unscrew the cap covering the back of the bulb. No need to remove the bumper or the headlight housing. Perhaps you need to do that to replace the turn signal, or for a different year, but this is unnecessarily complicated. I started to pull out the headlight housing but was never able to get it out. The actual process to do both low beam headlights took about 10 minutes, and that's from someone (me) who is not super handy with tools.
Were you replacing the factory halogen bulb or changing the lights to HID? The factory replacement is an easy swap, however the HID kit takes some extra work. If you're going to a brighter HID setup, removing the number makes life so much easier!
+MeCuzen Car companies are making things more difficult so you have to go to a dealer to get your car worked on. This is more to empower the DIY'er that it's possible and to show them how. It really doesn't take that long either.
+HIDLightReviews my girlfriend broke her headlight and I'm fixing it tomorrow. A previous video showed how to do it on an older model and it was so simple. No need to take the bumper off. You're right. They want you to go to the dealer and get it done. I got her a non OE lamp. Do you think they'll give her shit when she turns it in after the least is up?
*TRUTH* My dad (RIP) used to say he wouldn't work on any car made after 1990.because they were purposely designed to force you to take it to a mechanic.... Add to that the fact that Mechanics know this, and have started to ramp up their hourly rates to the ridiculous because of it. I used to have a *Mercedes* wagon, and thought I could change the oil / filter myself, but it turned out that they put the filter inside of the block, *for God know what reason,* making it so that in order to change the filter, you would need to have a *'cherry picker'* to lift the entire engine out of the vehicle, or you could just *take it to the dealership, where they would charge you $189 for the job!!*
Wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The pop screws on the top has already been removed by someone and I didn’t bother taking the bottom ones off, just let the whole thing sag while I took the headlights out. In the end I just removed 4 screws on the front fender and then the 3 screws on the headlight.
Thanks Bro! I should have consulted your video first. I think I can still save the day. I couldn't get the under the fender and side of the wheels figured out. Keep up the good work.
HIDLightReviews ... I have 2012 Sonata Limited and the light assemblies look to be the same as what are on mine. What year was this video for. Thanks, John
I have found the instructions for removal of the bumper on my 2012 Sonata to be very useful as I want to replace the lens covers as they are very badly pitted. I'm tried to remove the front bumper as shown in the video, but at the top of the bumper about half way from the fender well and the headlight, it will not pull off. It's the same on both the left and right sides. I really hate to put more pressure on it for fear of cracking that panel. Any recommendations from others that have removed the bumper?
Took off the screws, but seems to be resistance beneath the side of the headlights near the wheels. Not sure if using more strength would help, but I'm afraid to damage something. Is it suppose to slide right off like the video?
yo tengo ese carro y no tuve que demontar el bumper sino meti la por debajo y quite la luz y los hice como en 20 minutos, porque desconecte arriba y despues me di cuenta que hay un tonillo desbajo
I see you have an LED LIght Bar installed on the Sonata, do you have any videos on how you had installed them? I was looking at the Auxbeam website for one for my Hyundai Sonata 2014 GLS.
Chris, I just have to replace the clear cover on the assembly. Any advice or vids for just replacing the clear outer cover? Do I have to remove the bumper? Thank you very much!
Headlight HOUSING And does it stop at 3:36 for anyone else or just me? He stops a "disconnect factory wiring" then video ends. If that's so, an not a glitch that 1. An uninstall for the housing and 2. NOT a reinstall.
+Amor Vs Dinero - 10mm socket and screwdriver? Yes... you really need those tools. I'm sure you could use other tools, but you want to use the right tools for any job. No make-shift tools
*DIY* is heavily frowned upon by the automotive industry nowadays.... They want you to pay $150 - $250 an hour for labor fees at a garage, if something breaks / wears out. That is more than a surgeon charges!!
*Outrageous* to have to take apart the entire front end of the vehicle, just to swap out a light fixture!!

Ordered 2 new lamps for my 2011. Don't think I'll pay my mechanic this time. Thanks for the video!!

To change the bulb on the left side you do need to remove the bumper
Not true. I have a Sonata I've changed the bulbs on both headlights myself and it's very easy. Each light has a cap behind it that you can easily remove. It makes no sense to remove the bumper.
Jollyroger you don't need to do all that shit for the whole light, 3 bolts. 2 on top 1 behind.

Perfect. Had no idea what I was doing, watched this video and it worked beautifully, step for step. Thank you!
Me too, just now!
This video was well made and informative. I was going to take out the headlights to clean them, I'll just do it on the car.
I was thinking why so much work but you did say headlight not headlight bulb. Good job.

Look like I need a fucking mechanic to change a damn headlight ... Thank u sonata

The store where I got my bulb only had the standard halogen bulb available.
This is ridiculously difficult for such a menial task.

+RightWingCon81 - don't hold me to it, but I doubt it. They won't have any way to tell as long as it looks OE.

I agree!

And we have another video to join the other 5000 videos about changing the driver side assembly. Obviously the passenger side assembly never goes bad.
How hard is it to get that bumper back on? Seems like it might be trouble to get all the tabs to line up correctly again.
Super easy. I've taken it off and put it back on at least 5 more times.
I was wondering the same thing. I need to change a broken headlight, but that looks like a lot of work lol
Thanks for the vid! This made my project today so much easier.
I waited for such a wonderful explanation and continued to have a clear and useful video
hmmm...this one seems fake my friend...
Great video, getting ready to do this now myself.
Thanks Bro! I should have consulted your video first. I think I can still save the day. I couldn't get the under the fender and side of the wheels figured out. Keep up the good work.
Ha, thanks Eric, glad you enjoyed the video. Happy headlighting!

ce vidéo ma aidé comme vous l'imaginée pas , j ai échapper un morceaux dans la lumière. merci encore

You know you can reach those caps without the extra work right...?
He was showing how to replace the headlight not the bulb.
@@joshuavaughn7209 at first I thought he wanted to replace just the h7 bulbs
Nice design Hundai what the entire eff. Cool bg music tho
I can’t seem to get the bumper removed from the tabs below the headlights. Mine almost looks like it has more screws in an inaccessible spot
yo tengo ese carro y no tuve que demontar el bumper sino meti la por debajo y quite la luz y los hice como en 20 minutos, porque desconecte arriba y despues me di cuenta que hay un tonillo desbajo
Gracias por visitor-nos

Wow I feel my IQ went down 30 points after seeing 🤦🏻♂️😭😂😭
😂😂😂
Hilarious...
Black&Yellow 24/7 you must actually work on cars because I feel the same way...
you should probably tell people that this isn't the process to change a bulb. For those that don't know, this would really confuse people.
Kaleio Romero he's changing the whole headlight assembly not the bulb
Chris solano and even doing that you don't need to take the bumper off. The who assembly is held in by 3 bolts.
Chris, I just have to replace the clear cover on the assembly. Any advice or vids for just replacing the clear outer cover? Do I have to remove the bumper? Thank you very much!
I have to take the bumper off completely to replace the unit? Seems like I could just loosen one side?
Headlight HOUSING
And does it stop at 3:36 for anyone else or just me? He stops a "disconnect factory wiring" then video ends.
If that's so, an not a glitch that 1. An uninstall for the housing and 2. NOT a reinstall.
Thank you, went very well...
What year is this? Any on 2011?
You do know there was a major redesign between the 2010 and 2011 models, right?
follow instruction but there still seem to be to things holding the bumper in my sonata (2013)... very frustrating.
+Gus H - Where at? Top, bottom, driver side, pass side?
would this work for a 2016?
Sorry... I haven't taken the 2016 apart yet.
I hit a deer, broke my headlamp, this helped me a lot, the deer not so much...
HAHA. Yikes!!
Glad the video helped you get back up and running
Lol me 2... deer lived tho...😔😔😔
I heard the music in the video and decided to just sell my car instead.
So I really need all these tools to do this?
+Amor Vs Dinero - 10mm socket and screwdriver? Yes... you really need those tools. I'm sure you could use other tools, but you want to use the right tools for any job. No make-shift tools
Not if you're only replacing the bulbs.
+Daryl Stephens Correct. If you're just replacing the factory bulb, you can do that from under the hood. No need to remove the bumper.
Well. I was going to do it myself but the lady in me digresses. I'm callin my dad. Lol
Dude thanks my headlights have cataracts..
Thanks!
Wow thats alot of work just to replace & uninstall a headlight
*DIY* is heavily frowned upon by the automotive industry nowadays....

good job
If gonna only change the headlight bulbs u don't need to take off whole bumber, check out other utube videos for that
for sure, but not if you're swapping out the headlight assembly! Thanks for stopping by!
B
How incredibly stupid can the engineering be when you have to pop the whole front off to change a bulb?
stupid design
Stop smoking cracks😂😂 changing bulbs amd almost disconnected the whole engine 😂😂
Are you kidding me?!?! You have to take the whole front end of the car apart to change a headlight? Note to self: don’t buy another Hyundai.
You gotta remove the front bumper for most of other cars to replace headlight assembly.
This is headlight assemby, not headlight bulb. Bulb changing is easy.
