Inside The Towers - Willington Power Station

Got a bit braver with my flying and flew through one of the cooling towers at Willington. Such massive structures that feel quite intimidating as they tower above you. Even from a distance they have quite a presence about them.
Need to get a bit more adventurous here and explore the other towers as they still have a lot of structure inside them. I only flew inside this one tower as it was easy to see inside it from outside the fence.

Great shots. I flew there, back in 2018, but only around the top, as I was taking off from the road entrance to the facility, so didn't have clear line of sight to the base, and was still getting used to the drone. Like you, I didn't want to dip inside, because of potential signal loss.

There is now a few access points onto the site - when I was there I could hear people playing music and shouting in the tower I flew through - that did put me off from trying to get physically closer to them. But I will at some point as I really do want to see the bottom of the other towers. All in good time. It's a great location to keep visiting.

when I arrived there were some youngsters with music off there phones playing and they were shouting to cause echo's - its quite loud really.

Why no vertical climb from inside the tower?

Hi - I was not on the power station site so I was standing away from the tower and with the towers being made from reinforced concrete I was worried about signal loss and what the drone might do with the updraft of the wind inside. Due to the shape of them they generate a fair bit of wind inside. If I was able to stand inside I would have done so. Maybe next time I will be brave and get onsite to do that. I also want to get better shots of the other towers as they are way more interesting than the one I flew in that I could see inside from the fence

@@robertsweet5212 ​​⁠if you look at around the 3:37 point you can see me on the other side of the fence the farm field next to the site has great visibility of the towers and inside some of them too.
