Jerry was so intelligent I mean everything he says has substance and you can take something away from it.I'm going to give an example I saw an interview on a morning show Jerry was talking about Keith passing his quote was he's gone to the "great beyond" then he pauses and says we think? The interviewer then ask him and Bobby to expound upon the" great beyond"of course they start joking around and avoid the topic.
I feel as if Jer and Bob were just having a pleasant time not really on drugs. Bob's laugh at the beginning is adorable though. It's a rarity to see such clear videos of their interviews
this is perfect.....they never wanted to be under a microscope! and they seem to have fun with these obvious hoops someone had them jump through before the show. we all knw how those shows sounded.......amazing! acoustic AND electric
This is great!! And it's kinda neat that Bobby gives props to Donna Summer.. as she is now so much more recognized after her passing.. And true, she probably was the best of what disco had to offer.!! :)
LoL! These guys are Funny, Sarcastic, Nice, Rebellious, High, Tallented, Scruffy...all rolled up and smoked!...err I mean all rolled into one! ...err or two! :-) (I really do dig their chemisty with each other... they definately had an intellectual witty sarcastic charm about them!!) ;-)
"yea we have a huge amount of songs and we remember lots of them, sometimes..." Haha aw man I can't believe I never seen this press conference before. Damn I love them. Great shit, thank you. As for all of you fuckers guessing if they're on this or that, mind your own fucking business, who cares? At the end of the day they're still both amazing musicians.
Watch the video from this concert, I believe it's called DEAD AHEAD and listen/watch BIRD SONG......Look at Jerry in the groove knowing that he's laying down a serious "keeper", meaning one of the classic versions.......That look you see is HIM ON HEROIN....Do I know if he did a little "chasing" some time before this interview? Not really.....The point is, he does not look to be predominantly "on heroin".....He looks more stoned than anything. Looks like maybe a bump of coke too? Not too much.
I love Jerry, both as a person and as a player, but (I'm sorry) it seems like he took a trip to Peru to obtain his marching instructions before this interview...hehe
Jerry sooooooooooooo high. good good weed i'm guessin. with a blast or two of the Persian every few hrs of course. Love the 80's shows. acoustic Dead - yeaaaaaa
Who Cares! The cause behind the effect here is something infinately bigger than the "form" called Jerry Garcia. Power that created the universe is behind this poor beaten down form. Again, who cares what he took. The proof is in the creation of his music, the way it touched those listeners who gave it a chance to touch their heart. I found the white light of God through thier music. That's the cause I know of.
@TheBiscoDiscuits Yeah man. And people need to dig that Bob was a little cross-eyed here and there, hence the illusion that he's looking at hallucinations.
@AvirtualSwitzerland its kinda funny that someone is watching a grateful dead interview on youtube and will bash me because im wrong about what kind of drugs i think their on... awesome dude. think about it man why do you feel the need to reply to a comment and say someone is wrong i mean what do you have the hair follicle samples that jerry and weir gave as soon as the interview ended. the truth is we will never know, they could be clean and sober doubt it, but you never know
Wow ! It was all a crock of bullshit. I can't believe I fell for it. The bottom line of the Grateful Dead is that they knew how to play to the LSD-soaked mind.
"Hi my name is Jerry Garcia, I don't bathe, I live in a dumpster, I smell bad, I do drugs, and sometimes when I'm really high I shit my pants and smell like a toilet"
Jerry was so full of humor and joy☮🐥
Jerry's expression after the bubble question at 4:42 on cracks me up!
The Radio City run were some of the best shows they ever did. THANK YOU, for posting! Simply priceless...
I love finding good quality video of Jerry and Bobby
jerry was such an inspiration in my life...RIP

Love this everybody is having fun.
its good to see them sooo HAPPY
They really just seem like they were best friends.. - this is a really funny interview. I think I've watched it about a dozen times over the years
I feel as if Jer and Bob were just having a pleasant time not really on drugs. Bob's laugh at the beginning is adorable though. It's a rarity to see such clear videos of their interviews
i'm loving the laughter...
Your comment was adorable, as well. Thank you for posting.
LOL
They're having a pleasant time and they're high.
Jerry is definitely on the Persian white at this point. If he wasn't high he'd be dope sick. Sad but true.
Nah, come on guys they were totally sober at this point and had a strict "no caffeine" policy
this is perfect.....they never wanted to be under a microscope! and they seem to have fun with these obvious hoops someone had them jump through before the show. we all knw how those shows sounded.......amazing! acoustic AND electric
shit gotta love Bobby... in regards to elevator music... "ive heard some that was really soul wrenching..". LMAO...
Jerry's clean and sober period was his best performances
This is great!! And it's kinda neat that Bobby gives props to Donna Summer.. as she is now so much more recognized after her passing.. And true, she probably was the best of what disco had to offer.!! :)
Jerry Garcia is(was)the most interesting man in the world
Jerry's since of humor is GREAT! (:
It’s not possible. All that simplicity 😂
Jerry is so baked here. Hilarious.
This would of been a nice addition to the dvd of Dead Ahead.
Excellent point.

They are very clear, acid or not. They love it.
"They got these new acousitc electric guitars" damn we have cam a long way technologically and yet rock n roll is still in the past times.

@nottwozero Remember that bob did write a song called "Born Cross-Eyed" on the 1968 LP
"yea we have a huge amount of songs and we remember lots of them, sometimes..."
Haha aw man I can't believe I never seen this press conference before. Damn I love them. Great shit, thank you. As for all of you fuckers guessing if they're on this or that, mind your own fucking business, who cares? At the end of the day they're still both amazing musicians.

I love Jerry, both as a person and as a player, but (I'm sorry) it seems like he took a trip to Peru to obtain his marching instructions before this interview...hehe
"What's the question? Say it again real slow". -Jerry cracks me up here.
Well spoken!
Bob Weir said timelords at 4:45 woah, someone's been watching too much Doctor Who I suppose haha.
I didn't think they were tripping either but the little thing around :25-:31 is kinda a giveaway.
Mr. Weir needs to floss.
"i missed my floor" too much!!!
i didnt know they had such a sense of humor. you can definitively tell he doesn't like the reporter... theyre just fucking around with him
"I missed my floor..."
This is 1980 right? Wasn't he deep into the Persian stuff at that point?
Yes
"thats a non-question" hahahah!!
Jerry @ 10 seconds in: "Who are you people anyway, I mean . . uh"

Jerry looks really good/healthy here.
He wasn’t. But still brilliant. Unparalleled genius on multiple levels
4:44 priceless
In this interview Jerry reminds me of David Lee Roth - don't know why
I missed my floor !

Anyone know the year?
1980

What year is this interview?
HA probably I don't quite know. I was just commenting on his appearance and weight.
Like Jerry Garcia said, "nothing is all bad"...
@TheBiscoDiscuits Yeah man. And people need to dig that Bob was a little cross-eyed here and there, hence the illusion that he's looking at hallucinations.
4:25 the acid kicks in on Bobby
Bob was not using acid anymore he had been completely soberer a long time! As for Garcia well........

I can safely say his personality was definitely altered by whatever drugs he was on, and varied according to drug era. This is prime "cokey" Jerry,
