I knew about it for the prop making, it gives metallic effects like nothing else, but may be hard to protect. Never even crosed my mind to try it for miniature.
This is like a miniature version of a slam dunk. Rally the TH-cam painters Roman! Want to see everyone take on this feat to determine who is the master of this test of arms!
Videos like this show why Roman is the goat. How much atmosphere and character can you possibly jam into a single, simple little 28 mini in only 15mins!? ❤❤
I love that pencil highlight every time I see it. Crisp and easy edge highlight, damn quick. I use to "feel" like steps like this were a "cheat". I've gotten to a place where I've realised that, outside of rigid competition rules, whatever gets you to the end result that you're after is absolutely fine. There's no such thing as a cheat, there's just tools, techniques, and styles. Mix and match as you need, to get the end result you're after. You have encouraged me to be braver, for that I thank you.
Glad you like it. There are more videos going through the same process of speedpainting on my channel. I know it is a different way and approach, but one that is really worth applying ...
It's funny how I prefer the painterly style to super smooth perfectly rendered digital style. Now if I could just get there in 15 minutes! Nice job Roman
Okay let's get the gist of the workflow here... * wet blending base colors, James Wappel style, makes sense * Pick out key details and apply God-tier painter skills to make them sparkle effortlessly... sigh, makes sense * use pencil to throw on easy edge highlights... makes sensWAIT WHAT, A PENCIL??? (watch this section 5 times, mind blown)
Throw the subscribe edit before you start the Mini next time. You were about 5 seconds into the mini and edited it already. It can really throw people off who are new comers like me! Just a little tip (: this was fun thank you
The sheer amount of paint you laid down at the beginning is giving me anxiety. I'm not sure I would ever be able to paint quite like that, but I definitely do need to learn to be a little looser with how I approach things.
If its a gaming piece it's good to finish with a varnish as all paints will wear off with continued handling no matter what type you use especially pencil .
I'm curious about the first brown layer when you covered 90% of it by the black after. Does it have something to do with the wet method you use, causing the colors to blend and not be pure brown or black?
Freehanding details on a fifteen minute paintjob, I'm impressed!
Super impressive as always! Thx for sharing!
Loved the use if a pencil. I've never thought of using that to highlight black. Blew my mind! DANKE ROMAN!
@@SlayerMiniatures Happy I can help :)

@@Bishop0151 I thank you for such kind words. Each of them is true and lovely.
Well, that is a process I've not had much experience with but you can't argue with the end result.

Love seeing wet on wet work. Great job Roman. A pencil is my favourite way to achieve quick subtle metallics!

@@garyjenson1326 thanks
dope
I wish you would paint Infinity models that way. These seems to be more challenging than those of Warhammer (of any kind).
Sehr beeindruckend! Danke
Great video and the pencil wow, just screams graphite thanks for that awesome tip.
Always happy when a new video from you shows up :)
Have a good one, cheers
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! I've been using your wet on wet method and finished ALL my cultist models for necromunda in a month!
So so so cool to hear that! Yeah!

That's a cracking technique and a great result.
Lovely job. Makes me want to see what I can do in a 15 minute time limit. I like to think I'd just paint with a bit more freedom to express.
I don't think this metod will fit my Tau or Sisters, but for Kroot or Genestealers this definetly worth the try, thank you!

AK, Army Painter, and half a dozen other companies now locked in a race to be the first to add €8 pencils to their range
$8! Such optimism! $18.99 minimum
Very cool Roman, pencil trick is new to me, can I use any standard pencil though, also will it rub off with handling or do you have seal it?

what kind of pencil did you use for the metal work? Great video!
As far as I remember HB
The phone display is constantly ripping focus away from the mini and your work :(
