    That's the nicest FS1/ E I've seen since I bought mine brand new in 1975, identical to this one. Takes me back to being 16 again. 👍

    My Popsicle Purple FS1E was delivered brand new on 15/03/1975 I'm sure it was £195 out of the crate. Had it for a year then at 17 had a GT250M Suzuki. Great days and a brilliant introduction onto the road.

    My first bike was a black Yamaha RD50M…for my 16th birthday in early 1978….loved it, looked like a big bike…no pedals….sure not the fastest but in my opinion it was so cool…..happy days from happier times…

    I couldn't afford one of these as a 16 year old British Rail apprentice, but many of my mates had one. I eventually bought a Garelli Tiger Cross from Carnell's in Marshgate, Doncaster. It was a 1974 N reg model and cost £85 which I repaid at £5 a month. The headlight switch didn't work, so Paul Carnell gave me a fiver and told me to buy one from Cusworths Motorcycles on Princegate. I was under strict instructions not to tell them he'd sent me!

      I was a box lad on the railway back in 75 at crewe on the princely sum of £19 a week that was a 3 shift pattern and 6 days a week including working weekends. And yet I paid my rent, food and ran a motorbike on that and got drunk on my day off 😆

    Most of my mates back in the 70s had a FS1E but I wanted something different so bought myself a Garelli Rekord which was faster than the Yam. The road to school in the morning and in the afternoon was a race track for us kids back then 🤣

    half my mates had this bike, the other half including me had the AP50 Suzuki, I think this bike you had to mix the 2stroke oil with the petrol when you filled up, where as the AP50 had an auto mix. What a stunning bike...

    I didn’t have an FS1E I bought it’s larger sibling back in ‘88 the YB100 Deluxe. Funnily enough Chris, you were the salesman who made the sale back in your Cusworth Motorcycle days. There’s a blast from the past.

    Several mates that did not apparently have to pay board, got them, possibly on tick. But I paid cash for a 1968 Honda C50, played around with the timing, carb and exhaust, and won races against the Fizzer owners. Then in ‘76 I got a brand new CD175, arguably the first retro bike. Traveled all over the country on it, race meetings and holiday in Devon. Then a year later I got a beautiful candy orange CB250G5. There were two types of rider back then.

    Exactly like my UK FS1-E..! Purple..! Loved this bike. Stunning rebuild..! Can’t quite see all the “P” reg’d number plate to check if it was actually mine..!! I remember that a bike mag in the day featured how to get its apparently blanked off 5th gear working . Not for this show piece, but maybe for a fun daily runner..??!!

    I had many fizzers back in the 70s also many scrappers in the Barn too, Used to pull them apart to make a good one up" Yours is a very nice example of a top restoration and for sure the Purple/ Brown and Gold Fizzers were the faster bikes and could easy reach 50mph, Back then the only 50cc bike had to be the Suzuki AP50 that would give the Fs1e a run for its money, But well done for the top posting of a classic icon of its day and for sure the shocking price tag would easily reach 8-10k for sure, Madness i know" when you think how you could almost get a rough running Fizzer for just a couple of pints chatting down at your local,.🤔👍

  • @kramer26

    Absolutely stunning!! Certainly a lot better than the one I had as a teenager that I used to tear up n down the local mudtracks lol. Shame you didn't mention the price... but probably out of my range anyway!

    I had mine new in april 1974 it was the first purple one in Hampshire I was expecting a gold one but once I saw it I loved it I can still remember the reg number . I got knocked off it and had to have it repaired and when they replaced the side cover it came with ss on it so it had fs1-e on one side and ss on the other

    “PBK 68M” where are you now?
    I still have the front mudguard number plate hanging in my garage over a rather nice R1250GS. The Fizzy gave me so many memories and the eternal phrase “Freedom”. I’m not looking at you Mel Gibson

  • @hvop3734
    @hvop3734 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yep, I had one of these when I was 17 in the Netherlands. It was all chrome.
    Can you ride one of these now unrestricted as it is a classic bike, meaning the rules apply from when the bike was made?

  • @andrewoakley4957

    Aah! Purple fizzy! Mine was Purple and second hand LYA 434 P loved it, not as quick as some, but then it wasn't in pieces every weekend! I wonder if she still lives? That's a beauty! Although I guess the price may well require a defibrillator 🤣.

    Didn’t this have a number plate on the front Mudguard from new?

    • @fartybreath4147
      @fartybreath4147 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, mine was a "N" reg, and had the reg plate on the front mudguard. UK safety legislation (Save My Gonads Act) and amendment to existing Construction & Use regulations changed in late '74 or early '75 allowed the removal on all existing motorcycles/mopeds and those manufactured after this date were exempt from fitting it. I removed mine and the two remaining holes rusted and ruined the mudguard. My pedals were always bent up like a "V" from falling off it on roundabouts so often. It had triangular crash bars fitted, which would chip away at my shins each time - still got the dents in my legs as mementos. My Dad paid £350 second hand in Feb '75 reg HLM 751N for my 16th birthday. Very first on road trip was from North London to Marble Arch - no training required!

    Its actually too clean to be cool. The taillight is stunningly ugly. We would have these Maltese cross types wich were nicely punk, take off the blinkers, put in cast wheels in gold or black and install a fork with a disc brake. New paint job without the stripes and a adjustable 3 piece steer. Shorten the back fender and replace the pedals with steady stands. Then you gotta make em run fast wich we could. Well over 100 km. Nice machine though just like the probable price tag on it
