I Tested WORST RATED Places in Vietnam (So You Don't Have To)

- I decided to test the worst-rated places in Hanoi, Vietnam, so you don’t have to and the experience is truly unforgettable - for all the wrong reasons.
I stayed at a haunted house-style hotel, where the reviews weren’t lying: it was unbelievably filthy, and guests reported the owner having serious mental issues. I also checked out a café with a fake, overpriced menu, a massage parlor where the staff barely put any effort into the service and pressured me for tips afterward, and a bar with rude staff that made the experience even worse.
But out of all these places, the hotel takes the crown for being the absolute worst!
Would you dare to visit these places? Let me know in the comments!

You're crazy for doing all the bad reviews all in one day. And we thank you for it so we don't have to experience it for ourselves. Yeah, no way I'd lay my body on that nasty bed. LOL! Great video, though.
Hahaha yeah, sleeping in that bed was the worst of it 🤣 it smelled really bad ! But yeah, it's past now, Today I slept in a novel bed 🤣👍
I’m Vietnamese living in Czech Republic, your neighbor and it’s very interesting to see you discover places in my homeland that myself would never have the courage to try 😂 Keep up the good work mate, very interesting videos , love your channel!
Thank you so much ! Haha I love it here, hopefully people will not get offended after this one 😅 I'm in Saigin now, so hopefully next week will be the Tet experience video 🇻🇳❤️ visit Poland if you'll have a chance 🎊
@@HomelessPelicanThey were the worst rated places so it’s actually nice that you are showing them so other travelers can avoid them. I visited Poland twice, Kraków was awesome, had a great time there! Stay safe my friend!
@@milanle695 Haha nice ! Thank you so much, you too !
Enjoying your videos a lot.
Very authentic, no bullcrap. Will be coming to Hanoi in a week or so for a holiday myself (3rd trip to VN). Have a 'normal' budget, but planning to do cheap weeks and expensive weeks, so your videos are very handy.
Go wash all your gear at a dry-cleaners. Bedbugs are travelers and are impossible to get rid of, people will be very annoyed with you if you bring them. They go for highly vascularised areas often near or on bony prominences; wrists, fingers, ankles, face and neck. If you have bedbugs go and buy diatomaceous earth. Use this as a barrier... I mean, if you want to go nuclear, go camping and sleep on diatomaceous earth with your gear... that will shred the exoskeletons of the bedbugs and kill them very quickly.
Interesting to know not to bother going to the cheaper places. In many rural areas, I try to go to places that would get less traffic, but if the staff are only low-paid employees then it's actually better to go to busier places.
I wonder if there is like an 'airtasker' equivalent in VN, where you are actually paying whoever is providing the service and not their boss.
Anyway, keep up the great videos, love your attitude, your honesty and your friendliness... making me realise that I am maybe a little too cold when I travel and I don't need to be AS defensive/paranoid.
Hello! Fortunately, I didn’t get any bedbugs-that would have been really annoying while traveling. But yeah, after reading those comments, it was definitely a gamble.
To be honest, now that I’ve driven through all of Vietnam on a motorcycle, I’ve found incredible hotels outside of the big cities for as little as $6 per night, including breakfast. All of them were super clean, very decent, and way better than I expected.
As for the people, everyone has been so kind. I haven’t had any bad experiences where someone tried to really scam me or was mean. Of course, you always have to be careful, but joking around and having fun with people usually works out fine.
Take care, and thank you so much for your comment-I really appreciate it! ❤️✌️🔥🇻🇳
It's true that successful people often have their own paths, I've watched many foreigners make videos about Vietnam, but this is the first time I've seen someone do an experience of bad places 😂
Hahaha so it's good right? I mean different, I don't want to be like others 🤣 and don't get me wrong, I'm madly in love with this country ❤️🔥🇻🇳

Haha 😄 more wild episodes to come 🤣 thank you, much appreciated 👏 💐 🙏
About the hotel, I think the owner is renting out the hotel along with his own house. The room you're staying in is likely a room that belonged to his children or grandchildren. I believe his family might have moved elsewhere, so he’s renting out the place as a hotel service. The fact that the bedding is decorated with a children's theme supports this idea.
As for the knife under the bed, in Vietnam, it’s a custom to place a knife near the bed because it’s made of metal, which is believed to absorb negative energy. Therefore, people often use a knife under or near the bed to protect positive energy and prevent sleep paralysis.
The locked wardrobe might still contain someone’s personal belongings. The window that doesn’t lead anywhere is common in old houses, as these houses were built a long time ago. In Hanoi, it’s quite common for houses to be built very close together due to the cultural and structural practices of the time.
On the rooftop, he grows vegetables and raises chickens, which is typical for elderly people in Vietnam. Given the cramped streets and the need to live in small alleys in Hanoi, this is normal for locals, but I understand that it might seem strange to you.
That being said, I must agree with your concerns about hygiene, which is indeed poor, as you pointed out. The price is also quite high, considering that I could find many better places in Hanoi for the same amount :')
The café and the initial massage place you went to are run by students and young workers who take part-time jobs to earn extra income. Most of them are very young, and their wages are usually quite low. For instance, the salary of a server is only around 20,000-25,000 VND per hour, which isn’t even enough to buy a cup of coffee they serve. So, most of them simply do the bare minimum to fulfill their duties.
Regarding the coffee price being raised from 30,000 to 35,000 VND, I think it might have been a misunderstanding. Usually, for Vietnamese customers, they would ask and be shown the menu, but since you’re a foreigner, communication might have been a bit challenging. Perhaps the café adjusted the price for their products, which is a very normal practice in business, but they didn’t update it on the menu. That’s likely the case.
It seems you misunderstood the girl at 5:05 when she pronounced “threety-five” instead of “thirty-five.” That’s probably your mistake for mishearing, so it’s always better to ask for the price clearly everywhere you go, especially as a foreigner.
As for the girl using her phone, she was likely waiting for customers and just killing time. Workers in such places often aren’t paid well enough to actively invite customers in. Most of their income usually comes from customer tips, haha.
Still, I’d personally prefer a place like that over the second one you visited. That one that seems like a scam.
Hi, thank you so much for your comment and for taking the time to clarify things I wasn’t sure about. The knife did seem like it had been there for a long time because it was very dusty. As for the housing situation, I believe he was sleeping in a room on the same floor as me, and there were several other rooms on two more floors. Regarding the hygiene, I knew what I was getting into, so it wasn’t a surprise. I was very curious about this place after reading the reviews. Honestly, after I left Hanoi and traveled through different provinces, all the other hotels were excellent and often cheaper than this one. You’ll see more about that in the next videos. Thank you again!
16:15 and wtf wrong with dude. Bro straight to the point: "sex massage", sell drugs...I have no comment on this one😭If you’re someone who travels a lot around the world, you’d definitely understand that this is clearly illegal and could potentially lure you into committing unlawful acts. In such cases, you should either leave immediately or report it to the police. But hey, since you’re a cameraman, what’s there to be afraid of xd
The reason I’m pointing these things out is to help you make smarter choices in situations like this. Every country has places like that existing somewhere. I could walk through alleys in New York and encounter things far worse than this.
Also, let’s clarify one thing: above all, please don’t impose the mindset or values of your country onto ours. These are obvious differences you should already be aware of. Giving negative judgments without proper understanding can impact their business.
I hope you still have an enjoyable experience in our country! 🥺
@perchfishu Uh, yeah, so in my first video, people didn’t believe me. Even my Vietnamese friends were shocked, but this is pretty normal. As a foreigner, when I walk in the Old Quarter or other touristy districts like Bui Vien in Saigon or in Da Nang, I’ve been offered these things multiple times.
In Hanoi, when I was out walking and shooting at night, maybe one night I was asked more than 30 times by several different guys. But they’re not scary at all-they’re polite and just doing business. Many Vietnamese people might not even know about this because these guys only approach foreigners. They would never ask an ordinary Vietnamese citizen on the street. It’s just for tourists or people who look like tourists. In most countries, it's like that ✌️❤️
That was one interesting video! Actually it's helpful to see how the scams and stuff like this look like, just to avoid it or be prepared.
My first this kind of video, where I was actually looking for bad reviews 🙏 still, not that bad ❤️🇻🇳🕺
It is regrettable that a person such as yourself, in your career, must stay in places like this from time to time, due to cost. Having read all of the negative reviews stating to avoid this place, I admire you for your courage to still go here, and then share it with your viewers first hand. I’ve no doubt that there are places here and elsewhere in the world that are probably even worse. Unless by no other choice, I would immediately walk out of this hotel, the massage place, and even the bar. I do hold myself to certain standards. You have my complete sympathy for having to smell the chicken shit, deal with the bed bugs, filthy smelly bedding, dust, bugs in the shower, dirty hands at the massage place, and seeing the bar attendant being nasty to the customers. You’re a brave soul to take on this task, knowing what to expect. Few, if any other vloggers would do the same. Excellent video!
Hi Randy! After India, that hotel was a breeze. The owner was nice, but those bed sheets-definitely the low point of the stay. The massage felt like a throwback to teenage years and first relationships, kind of funny in hindsight. And that bar-$2 for a soft drink? You could get two proper dinners for that price. Thank you, Randy. I appreciate your support as always! ❤️🙏
@ I was going to compare it with India. But you and I already knew that was the worst, so why mention it again. Furthermore, you knew in advance what to expect here, unlike your visit in India. It was generous on your part to take us to a place that most others never would!

Hahaha thank you Chappi 🤣 the place was wicked !! 🕺🕺🕺 but no regrets! 🤣
It is the clear that the owner just relies on random people showing up for 1 night stays then leaving.
Some people don't even look at reviews so some people will go there and he will get small business.
The bed sheets look like they were not washed after the previous guest to be honest, he doesn't actually need to clean the place with the business model I outlined above.

umm about the knife. Some superstitious people here are believe that, when you have nightmare, or a ghost is in your house, and bother your sleep.Left a knife beside you or on the bedside table. But maybe the man knew that it will scared the tourists so he hides it under instead of on i guess? But it's a bit scary to know that that mansion has ghost/bad luck+)))))
Yeah, I didn’t know at the time, but I learned from other people’s comments later. Still, I don’t think the owner had some mastermind plan. The knife looked like it had been left under that shelf for maybe two years and had just been sitting there the whole time. Thanks for your comment! ❤️🇻🇳👍
I like your videos. wonderful. Even though I am Vietnamese, I have never experienced these things.

anh ấy như đang đi khám phá căn nhà ma ở ngay chính phòng trọ của mình vậy... 🤣

it is a real experience. But in Vietnam, more or less money depends on the corresponding service. If you have a lot of money, you can enjoy services at five-star hotels. So if you have little money, don't ask for it like other places with a lot of money. In every country, all services are calculated in money, money, money
Hi and thank you fir your comment 😊 To be honest, outside of Big Cities like Hanoi and Saigon I was able to find a really good hotels at crazy cheap prices. For example beautiful place with a balcony at the rice field(somewhere in Hoa Binh) with delicious breakfast for 200k Dong, or Huge apartment next to the VINCOM plaza in Tuy Hoa for 150k a night! So actually that was the last bad Hotel in Vietnam you saw on my channel 😁🙏❤️🇻🇳

weird that Tom's bar is on the list, went there a couple of times (as a Hanoian) and I didn't receive any discrimination at all. but I do understand it's possible, and it's a shame, that Vietnamese people got discriminated by race, from other Vietnamese, in Vietnam...
Yeah, I found it weird also 🤣 but as I said, I just been there a minute, didn't want to pay 50k for a sprite, and it was too loud to vlog. It would be cheaper if I was still drinking beers 🤣
@ 50k is the average price for a sprite over there (the clubs section of the beer street). if you were to had a beer there it’s also gonna be 50k. Although it’s quite possible that you spend 2-3 hours partying there without buying anything, or just 1 beer
Why didn't you ask for a receipt when you paid him?
I don’t know, I rarely get receipts in Vietnam, but I also don’t care about them. And when I do get them, I don’t take them. In this case, I knew exactly what I was signing up for, and asking for any kind of refund would be pretty shameless of me. 😆
