This episode is a mid 00’s time capsule. Also yes Shake like me is banned. But it’s worth finding. Low key the funniest episode they’ve made. Y’all would love it.
Back in the mid-2000s when this episode aired, Boost Mobile ads were absolutely rampant during Adult Swim's commercial breaks. So the show creators may have had some promo money sent their way, but maybe they also saw an opportunity to poke some meta-fun at the network.
The episode of Space Ghost with the original Aqua Teens, didn’t end up airing until AFTER this series started lol, but it was the prototype for the characters
They cancelled the Aqua Teen ep of Space Ghost while writing it because they decided Aqua Teen was funny enough to be its own show. Then later, they decided- Aqua Teen was so successful that they should just make the Aqua Teen ep of Space Ghost anyway afterall and that's how Baffler Meal became real.
@stevenstamper7904 bro working sprint/nextel was one of my first jobs and boost support was there too and it was already dying, they were cutting that team hard (early 2000's)
"No, no, I'm good. I'm in the credits." was probably one of the best endings to an episode I think about it when I donate $1 to a Kickstarter and it finally comes out
The entirety of the conversation that happens on the lawn is one of my favorite all time bits. Carl's "isn't it clear" rant is so good. I've used the "look at him looking at me" chunk IRL a few times.
Shake Like Me was banned from Max and other websites in 2020 due to Shake portraying "Black Face" in the episode after getting bitten by a radioactive black man. Safest and most sure bet is to buy the volume 6 dvd, but you can find this episode on other websites
Bros the joke for this episode is they keep playing commercials for Boost Mobile all the time all day all night on Adult Swim so Aqua Teen just made this entire episode making fun of their channels biggest Advertiser.
These commercials were so annoying lol, like no offense to Boost, but to understand this episode you need to understand Boost was running TOO MANY commercials on Adult Swim to the point that it was driving us all crazy including the people who make Aqua Teen lol.
I was 7 years old watching that episode and I’ll always remember Frylock telling Meatwad that it wasn’t appropriate for him to watch the robots go at it
For real? That's bullshit. They have almost the entire episode broken up into clips on their youtube channel. At that point why chicken out on the DVD?
I used to do boost Mobile because it was like $60 a month but when I went out of state to a more rural area I was completely dead so when I got back I switched to Verizon so I would have adequate coverage in both of those places.
I think it’s one that they did, but it got messed up. I hope they’ll give it a revisit like they did with _The Shaving._ I don’t think there’s a single ATHF episode that I got all the laughs out of on just the first watch. A second helping is always welcome.
Fun fact: this episode was made to mock an ad they made for promoting AT&T. this wouldn’t be the last time either, years later they did commercials for Jack links jerk and then had an episode mocking the product in mouth quest called honest Abe Lincoln’s hot links
For your next poll you should put “intervention” and/or “Bart Oates”. Two of the best Carl episodes and intervention actually has Idris Elba as a guest star
What's wild is Boost and Axe actually had no official hand in any of this, nor did they pay the creators for it, and the entire episode is pure satire that takes the piss out of product placements & sponsorships. In the DVD commentary Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, the creators, say they were mocking such products that aggressively market to young audiences.
@ItchyBurritoMiniAltThingy Oh it's fantastic, no complaints. Just wanted to drop Morel Orel in here in case they're looking for more. Most people I see react to it don't really appreciate it, but I feel these 2 would get the full gravity of it and uncomfortable laugh their asses off.
Under the vast expanse of the starry night sky, three cowboys sat around a crackling fire, the warmth of the flames casting flickering shadows on their faces. As they passed around a flask of whiskey, the conversation drifted from tales of the trail to deeper, more personal matters. Jake, the eldest of the three, spoke first, his voice low and thoughtful. "Y'know," he began, "there's been talk of how in the old days, men would turn to each other for comfort in ways folks today might not understand. It wasn't just about gettin' by; it was about trust, connection, and sometimes… something more. It's said that those acts could bring men closer, build a bond that was as strong as any friendship." The other two cowboys, Sam and Will, nodded in agreement, their faces serious as they listened. Sam, always the thoughtful one, added, "Ain't no shame in it neither. Back then, you did what you had to do, but it wasn't just about needin' someone-it was about wantin' to be close to someone who understood you better than anyone else. They say those bonds could last a lifetime, stronger than the love of any woman." Will, the youngest, looked at the two older men, a mixture of curiosity and something else in his eyes. "Maybe it's somethin' worth tryin'," he said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. As the night grew darker and the fire burned lower, the three men moved closer together, the weight of their conversation hanging in the air. They began to explore the intimacy they had spoken of, tentatively at first, then with growing confidence. As their bodies intertwined, the night was filled with sounds-wild, untamed noises that echoed the primal connection they were forging. In those moments, they discovered a new kind of bond, one that went beyond words and gestures, a bond that was as old as time itself. When the fire finally died down, they lay in silence, knowing that their friendship had been transformed in a way that only they could truly understand.
Shake-Like me is banned but I think you can still see it on independent youtube channels and some of the BOX DVD sets. They actually did have it on MAX because I do remember seeing it.
Funny enough, they DIDN'T have a boost sponsorship for this episode, they were just making fun of the commercials. Also the phone is played by Killer Mike, an og adult swim mainstay.
It may not have been direct sponsorship, but there was definitely some money coming from there. We used to joke that adult swim would have show breaks in between boost mobile commercials.

don't worry I've been using this website in every device for the last 10 years It's completely safe and works with ad block.

Serial face phone-dropper. Habitual line-stepper of phone-dropping. Also...Space Ghost is fun...but try out Frisky Dingo if you can.
Plex has Space Ghost Coast to Coast. There's probably more that does too. I just told y'all the first one I saw.

My favorite line of this episode. It’s too real for a Carl line.

It can not be overstated how often I heard that chirp sound in the early-mid 00s
That chirp haunts my dreams!
The Boost Mobile phone is voiced by rapper Killer Mike
Yeah he did a few things with Adult Swim around this time. He was great in Frisky Dingo as rapper/President Taqu’il.
Also in the new ATHF movie Plantasm killer Mike sang the intro song!
All these years, I never knew that was KM…
