I've only just discovered tenkara fishing, Definitely be picking up some equipment in the coming weeks! I was contemplating getting a fly fishing set up and having it for a bugout style bag, but this is such a better option for me! Having not fished since I was a teen and living off my veteran pension this ticks all the boxes! Lightweight, simple, budget friendly! Great video!
I’ve had the Sierra for over three years and have caught over 2 lb trout. It’s a super supple rod with great action. A couple of quick pointers - watch Tenkara casting videos, put the furled leader on with the rod collapsed. Never travel to the next spot with it extended.
The way that you attached your line to the Lilian is how most people that break their tip section manage to do it. Tenkara Rod Co has videos on how this should be done to avoid breaking your tip set.
@@matthewbrode3806 I have to say that I like both companies. If I had to choose one I’d go with Tenkara Rod Co. but I don’t think you’ll make a bad choice. I’ve had warranty repairs with both and they’ve both been great.
@@ThePartyWreckers thanks for the response. Good to know. Just bought my son the white cloud so this will be our first Tenkara experience, I’ve been fly fishing for many years and thought it to be an easy and natural way for the little guy to learn basics
YESSSS!!!! ...... I put an uxcell(cheap,cheap,cheap) tenkara rod in bugout kit...... my ENTIRE fishing kit weighs less thsn 5 ounces(EXTRA LINE,ROD,FLIES,YUP)...... I use the SAME fishing kit anyway...... it is a food getter for sure......
Cool rod but how is this different from a telescopic crappie pole? $25 vs $250? I loved fly fishing and this intrigues me but wondering the difference?
My advice, learn Tenkara techniques and forget traditional fly fishing techniques because Tenkara fishing is not fly fishing without a gear, it's something else.

I love tenkara. I've got a Beartooth from Tenkara Rod Co and another one from Tenkara USA. Great way to fly fish on small water here in Oregon.
I’m debating the Rhodo by Tenkara USA or the Sierra by Tenkara Rod Co. any suggestions or both pretty comparable?

I love my Tenkara but you might check out your casting it’s much simpler than a traditional fly rod. Good video and information.
