- Peugeot Landtrek road review: Legit bakkie contender or fly by night? Can it hang with the status quo of Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Triton, BT-50, P-Series and the new D-Max to name a few. The platform and most of the bodywork is based on the Kaicene F70. The Landtrek is currently only sold in markets in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, therefore excluding any markets in Europe.

Rear locker and low range. Good offroad. No centre diff.
@@Africasideways Tnx - strange though for the absence of centre dif (is there some ‘equivalent’ electronic wizardry that takes places?
@@dimitristsagdis7340 rear diff and low range will take you most places with proper tyres. never needed the low range for offroad bit in part 2. Very capable.

It is a real looker. I am impressed with the new Peugeot SUVs. But what puts me totally of this bakkie is its CHANGAN underpinnings. That's a shame for Peugeot.

You'd likely be on the ragged edge trying to achieve these in real world environment with only a 1.9.
@@Africasideways Agreed, I'm after much less in both areas, but the limits tell you something about the build, metal, suspension, arms, etc. used.

It's a flashy bakkie, but I can tell you for free Peugeot is a name you have for short-term and lousy resale. it's fantastic when it's new like any other new thing but from the word go Its payload given its GVW is lousy

Where does it fall down against the Hilux exactly ? The Peugeot certainly looks better in my opinion and given their pedigree in Africa, I'd take one over a Hilux every time.

@@Africasideways East African safari ring a bell for you ? The legendary 404 's and 504 coupes were winning tough rallies back in the late 60's and 70's, obviously your knowledge is limited. Tough as nails !

Don't ever bag a manufacturer like Peugeot or Benz who literally invented the car in the first place ! Double overhead camshafts way back in 1912, real pioneers of the auto industry. Love Kazz.
