Welcome to business 101: the channel caters to people that can't afford more than 2 months of cable bills on a planner so sharing a $700 planner is not going to fit the demographic of the channel. That means goodbye income as they leave because it is too far out of range. It also says people who support the channel to help are less inclined to do so. Less views equals less money, less sales, and sitting with a planner that hurt the business.
Honestly I wouldn't say a word to her, but the extra videos that play in the background or the regular views would end and I would find another channel that fit the demographic I joined for. It would be no where near the 1st channel I would have ditched for shifting from the demographic to showing off massive amounts of income as if that is the point of the channel.

Honestly I think that "it makes me happy" is all the reason you need. You don't owe anyone an explanation. You don't have to justify your decisions. People don't do enough of what makes them happy. Keep doing what brings a smile and let's you feel some peace or joy or whatever you call that good feeling that you get when you're doing what you want to do.😁💖

Totally necessary if it works for you and makes you happy. Thank you for sharing your ideas on how you’ll use your planners. Honestly made perfect sense to me. I love your message of keeping within your own budget and DIYing things, while also allowing yourself to be happy when you can purchase something special. The Cousin is my dream planner, and one day I will justify spending the money to get one lol.

Your videos are so warm and relaxing and such a treat on Sunday mornings. You inspire me so much, as I’ve recently returned to journalling after a long hiatus. It’s lovely to see someone young and tech-savvy also embracing analog journalling so passionately. I’m much older than you, but I’ve gone back and forth from digital to analog many times. I just purchased my first beginner’s fountain pen, a Kaweco Sport, and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive. Your love for fountain pens helped me take the plunge. This was so satisfying to watch. An it’s so cool that you’re trying new things for this upcoming year of 2024. Also don’t feel bad for not connecting with hobonichi weeks;it isn’t for everyone. For me I love it an gives me something todo;as well I don’t have to stress about writing to much in it. I have my line up for 2024!! It’s hobonichi weeks,5 year hobonichi, and weekly pocket Moleskin. This year I used a Hobonichi Weeks as my planner and it really served me well because I don’t usually do much, my days are pretty repetitive, but I like to keep track of my days and plan ahead, and I really loved using it. But for 2024 I’m going back to the bujo (will use an A5 Leuchtturm), because I adore the bujo and it’s the best method for me. For daily journaling I will use a Hobonichi A6 original (only monthlies and dailies), because once again I don’t do much but I love journaling and want to keep track of my crochet and embroidery projects (beginner here). Let’s see if this lineup serves me well! Happy Holidays Helen, your lineup sounds great (for me it would be hard to use so I admire you for keeping up with that)!

i am using an EC focus weekly vertical planner this year for my daily planning. i just missed the size of the vertical layouts and after setting it up and looking at everything i may try an hourly planner in 2025. we'll see. but i'm also using a b5 A&O black out doted notebook for my reading journal. that serves as my creative outlet for now and keeping track of what i read all year. and finally i'm using a Moleskin doted notebook for my budget planning which is VERY minimal especially for me.

Hi Helen, I also split my planner and diary into 2 books. The planner is just for planning and tracking, which I may discard after; and the diary is for personal thoughts, memories, dreams, book reading, psychic tarot reading, commonplacing, basically all the stuff that I’m more likely to keep. How I’ve solved the space issue is using the disc-bound Happy Planners, so I can add pages wherever I please. But I also really do love bound books as well. 🥰 Just something about books, right? 😊 For the diary, I use the section where you would habit track on your book, as an index, so I can find the pages easier later. And for the diary monthly pages, I put fun stuff like what movies/shows I’m watching, what books I’m reading, music and artists I’m loving, fun places I went, notable people and things I’m enjoying that month, etc. Just some ideas for those pages for your personal journal 💛

I ended up buying two 2024 hobonichi weeks because I couldn’t decide what cover I wanted to use. So the cats one is going to be my book planner. Title and author on left side of page, and rating and review will be on the right side. Obviously I can’t read an entire book in a day so this journal will probably continue past 2024.
For my actual planner I will use the red hobonichi weeks. And for daily journaling I will be using an A5 daily moleskine planner.
For common placing notebook I have a partially used hobonichi techo. My plan is to start using up partially used planners and notebooks for common placing and just ignore the dates in the old planners. I’ve started covering up the old dates with pieces of washi tape so I am now utilizing some of my supplies that have accumulated as well.
So that is my current plan for 2024. As anyone who loves stationary knows, intentions can change at any time!😊

I also use a hobonichi weeks as a book journal! I converted the weekly pages to lists of authors, my TBR, DNF's and 5 star reads and I'm using the notes pages in the back for small mini reviews. I turned the monthlies into perpetual calendars by covering the days at the top and log daily pages read on the days I read. Different color pen for different years. It's a mega so I'm expecting it to last a few years. I love seeing different uses for the weeks since I can't seem to stop buying at least one every year.

Thank you for sharing your lineup Helen!
My lineup for 2023 was the cousin and a6 english - my cousin daily pages are basically blank although I filled up all the weeklies - my a6 was also an and on and off for me - I think my main use for paper planners are to memory keep and some visualisation of priorities/week ahead and it needing to be portable so for 2024 my line up is the Weeks (track things/quick jot down of highlights/gratitude/daily logs) + the a6 vertical weekly insert as I really liked the vertical layout. I do have an A6 HON that I got just because the cover was lovely... But I don't know how much use that one is going to have now...

First, I want to thank you so much for all your inspirational videos. It's not just about how to plan, but how to think and how to be creative. In 2023 I started to use the Hobonichi Cousin instead of the Hobonichi A6 planner. It's worked out well for me because I have to track my family's apppointments and activities as well as my own. I use the daily section only for journaling. That said, I use a separate notebook for the books I read and movies/TV series I watch and note things I may need in the near future (such as for my book club). I'm planning on using still another notebook to learn or relearn languages. (I studied French, Russian, and Italian when I was young and forgot most of what I learned.) I will use a spare Moleskine to track my son's ADHD and keep notes on what works. Thank you again for all you do for us. It has been an honor to follow your journey as a person, a student, and a businesswoman.

I love your planner videos and ideas for 2024 plans. It's good to switch things up every now and then! I used to be a hardcore bujo junkie, but creating all the spreads every month took too much of my time/energy. I'll be starting my wonderland 222 b6 planner for the 3rd year in 2024! Then for project planning and ideas, I'm using an A5 dot grid notebook. I use an A6 notebook for spiritual/gratitude journaling and another b6 notebook as a video game/reading/TV & movie journal. Yay for 2024 planner peace!

Thank you as always for a wonderful planning video. My planner line up are from the Aura Estelle collection. I bought only two of the weekly essential. One for my corporate job and the other for my journaling, which it is perfect because I am not a daily journaling person. One weekly reflection page is just enough for me to express my weekly thoughts. In addition, I have an a6 planner from stationery pal that I had bought for 5 dollars for my finances and a weekly vertical complete from Aura estelle to brainstorm my priorities and time blocking schedule. Lastly, I have an a6 on the go notebook for quick notes from create with pen. This year I really had to narrow down to the one brand that had planners that would bring me joy in 2024 and a system that would keep me going.

    • @designchik
      @designchik 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I bought an undated Aura Estelle in October because it was cheaper than the Hobonichi Cousin but seemed to be somewhat similar in layout. I may try a Hobonichi for 2025, but for now, I’m really enjoying the AE. I also love soft pink and bought a pink AE cloud cover to hold it. The AE covers have a few pockets for my ruler, a few pages of stickers, and miscellaneous notes. I tuck an A5 Leuchtturm in the left side that I use for daily or guided journalling. I’m not very good at creating pretty spreads in the planner, so it’s trial and error (more the latter than the former), but it’s a process, I know. Hope you enjoy the AE in 2024!

I love this kind of videos. It’s nice to see what works and what not work and other kinds of planners that I didn’t know existed… last year I had both hobonichi cousin and a6 and weeks to explore (that’s before I become pregnant). So I have so much time journaling in the cousin and calligraphy and I was testing a6 for maybe some calligraphy/quote writing- but it didn’t really work much. But the cousin I love for journaling and memory keeping plus todo list… I had the weeks too but I didn’t know how to really use it in 2022… but when I gave birth on Sept 2022, I realize I won’t have so much time with the big cousin. So for 2023, I realize to just get the weeks to condense my planning and some journaling. And it worked. I struggled to find my rhythm in the beginning of the year but I found my flow eventually. And now for the 2024 set up, i still love the weeks and want to continue it, but I do agree that I didn’t like the unnecessary quotes in the bottom, so I’m excited to be getting sterling ink weeks the mega one, and a6 this time for my prayer journal which is something new I want to try. 2 is enough for me having 2 little kids around the house.

I have one bullet journal (a Scribbles that Matter) that I try to keep up with. I do have a re-usable layout system that I'm working in my current one, and that is going well. I also will run this journal until it is full and then simply pick up with the next one - the pressure of trying to match up with someone else's idea of a spread, a week, a month, a day, AND make it a single year for one book is just too much 😅
I also added to the line-up in the past couple months a Leuchtturm that I'm using as a reading journal. Both of these will carry on to next year.

Mainly for me, the Hobonichi Cousin again this year, but I will change some of the ways I use it. I have taken notes in it for work meetings and I realized that these notes need to be in a separate book, so I'm going to use a plain Hobonichi notebook for that. No other changes to the Cousin.
I also added a Weeks for things like grocery lists and and travel expenses tracking and as a 'capture' tool for random ideas and thoughts on the go, because I can carry around to it more easily than the Cousin.

I can see that as the work grow, your need for empty planning space grow as well. I think your Hobonichi cousin slowly evolving to dedicated work/time planer only while growing out your journaling needs elsewhere. Great to see the flow and change. I assume later in time we may see your non fiction going back to reading journal.
As well as Hobonichi weeks, I am using it as health journal. At the age of 30 my unhealthy habits and interests caught on me. I used food/exercise journals in empty notebooks in the past, but with many other things going on I decided that this year I better use a weeks mega as dedicated health journal and it worked wonders. I will be using in 2024 as well. (Can send you a photo of the layout if you want)
Other than health journal, I can only see it as dedicated home planner with weekly home tasks, daily chores and focuses, maintenance, repair, change and renovations… Or as a budget planner with daily budget and spending, income, bill dues, subscriptions, weekly shopping lists, wishlists etc. otherwise it gets too complicated due to size and layout.

For personal -> I will be trying a Hobonichi A6 HON, a Weeks, and I'll be in my 3rd year of a 5 year. I've been using my Weeks somewhat like a Cousin, where I use the weekly spreads properly, then use the notes in the back as dailies (just much smaller than a cousin :D). For me, it's the perfect size, since I don't have too much variation in my life and I've moved journaling into its own place (a notebook). I've been thinking to try and emphasize daily planning a bit more again so I'm trying the A6 again, but being too scared to leave the weeks behind I ordered both, lol. The 5-year is kind of a very brief memory keeper.
For work, I use a pretty cheap japanese planner, but I'm honestly not too fussy about work stuff, mainly just use it for notes.

Wow, I can't wait to see what next years brings. If you do get a pocket printer, I can't wait to see what you get. That is something that I've been considering, but never got around to. Part of me can't wait for next year, and another part is just nervous about starting things again. Doing things just because it makes you happy. I feel like that needs to be a sticker or something. The Hobonichi Weeks to you is like Hobonichi Cousin to me. I was able to keep up with it last year, but this year it just didn't work out for me. Thank you for sharing your planner plan.
For next year, I have 3 physical planner, and maybe one digital. I'm keeping my Hobonichi Weeks as my scribble, on the go planner. It was the first planner that stayed with me for most of the year, so I'm sticking with it for now. A Sterling Ink in B6 for journaling, like this year. Yes, I am behind, but I plan on working on that. It makes me happy to get things out of my head and put pretty stickers down just because I can. A pocket Common Planner for my language practice. I want to learn how to read and write Chinese (Cantonese, maybe some Mandarin too but that might be too ambitious). The one that I am really not sure about is the digital planner. I want to try to use it as a goal planner, and a way to keep all my appointments and stuff together. But there is something about physical planners that make it that much easier... I got the 2023 version of the Maske life digital planner, and want to try to use that system in my digital planner if I ever get around to everything...
