Thank you for this lovely video...the Russian Vedic people knew how to keep healthy without modern medicine and the knowledge needs to be preserved and shared so we can all learn their skills. Thank you and Privet from an English girl Finland :)

Thank you for this good video: you explain very clearly how to make Ivan tea. I did not know it before ( I was searching how to make tea with raspberry fermented leaves), but i'll try to make it also (too late though for the rose and peony petals ): The last part of the video "drinking Ivan tea outside" is for me the image of refinement and harmony. And it shows that it is worth spending time rolling the leaves. So generous of you to share your knowledge.

Thanks for the interesting video! Fireweed is such a common plant... I've heard that people use it for food, but ivan tea was new to me. There are probably many good plants that could be used in the same fashion as tea, or even coffee, but we're just so used to those two that we don't take any alternatives very seriously.

Nice video, except 1 thing: I would not close oven door all the way, you should keep the door a bit open so all the vapor can easily come out and you will get better results drying the leaves.
    Thanks a lot!

Thanks for this. I have made the tea a couple of times with only limited success. My next attempt will be better.

Beautiful video, thank you for sharing this method. Ivan chai is becoming popular in wild food circles in america. May we all see commonalities in such wonderful activities.

Thank you for this video. I have the plant in my garden and only just now I found out that you can make fermented tea out of it. Between that and dandelion coffee, I think I'm covered beveragewise :)

Love this video! my mom has been wanting fireweed tea and jelly for quite some but hasn't had time to make her own. I'm hoping to surprise her with them. Does it matter if the leaves are collected in the spring or fall? It's the beginning of fall now and I worry about making bad tea.

That's the question that I was wondering as well! Sadly it's too late to harvest them in here since they're more or less all yellow already because of the drought..

Thank you for this video. Does it matter when the leaves are harvested or how big the plant is? Does the nutrient level change? Or any other factors to consider? :) Any other flowers you recommend to add? I live in Northern Alberta. What about adding the fireweed flowers with the leaves? What temp of water do you add to the end product to steep the tea? I'm guessing it's not from boiling as that will kill enzymes.. :)Thank you

I just read that the most potent time to harvest is in the waxing first quarter moon in June-July from sunrise until noon.
Also best fermentation is 5 days.

Can you ferment the leaves in a plastic bag

    • @glassbeach3721

That’s what I’m wondering. But I think I’m going for an oxidized-ferment. So air too.

I roll the leaves with a rolling pin.
