- DAY IN THE LIFE | ANTIQUES & VINTAGE RESELLER | REAL WORLD POV
People often ask how we can keep up with so many locations spread so far! This video shows an example of the long days of dedication and effort that make it possible to bring the antique and vintage experience to both our viewers and our real world collectors across the country.
On this day, sourcing comes first, with a surprise garage sale haul and consignment merchandise already piling up in the van! Among the pile is a bunch of .925 silver that’s less than "sterling" in condition...we show where we go to make a nice big sale before we go scouting for more merchandise.
We get a quick view of Seattle’s Pioneer Square enroute to Epic Antique, where our mall space receives a makeover! We show and tell the highlights of the booth, from Boeing B-52 desk models to an Italian plastic fantastic stand that’s already making us money. The display is overstuffed when we leave, but this has to hold for a few months, so we cross the line from balanced display to organized clutter, and talk about items and prices!
Next it’s a trip past Pike Place Market on our way to a condo, where a table full of collectible figures joins us on consignment for our trip north to Snohomish Star Center Mall. Our mall space there converts to fall, with the addition of Roseville teapots, Native Americana and some handsome small scale furniture. It’s teeming with merchandise, yet somehow still shoppable when we leave!
Speeding through the backroads of South Puget Sound, we make it to Centralia in time to spruce up our new showcase and expanded booth at Tower Avenue Antiques. We’ve never gotten to show you this space, so we take time to linger over a wide variety of American pottery, Western memorabilia, kitchen collectibles and fabulous Thanksgiving dinnerware! Sold prices on select items are shown to help other resellers learn.
It’s been a long day, but that’s what it takes sometimes to bring the real world and online world of antiques and vintage together! We hope you enjoy seeing more of how it really is to live the life of a vintage reseller.
Here’s more of what we see along the way:
Lladro clowns, bisque Kewpie doll, Nancy Ann Storybook doll, Blenko/Rainbow decanter, Mac Tools case, vintage stereo equipment, vintage typewriter, NY World’s Fair plate, baskets by Pomo, Salish, Alaskan and Makah tribes, western collage, Frankoma mini wagon wheel pitcher, Fiesta console set, dive watches, vintage cameras, Hull pottery, Roseville pottery, Weller pottery, Noritake butterfly basket, Spode Buttercup, Capodimonte, Royal Gouda, Zulu doll and figures, 1940s composition doll, vintage clothes and hats, Vienna Woods and Blue Danube dinnerware, Polaroid folding camera, felt pennants, kitchen collectibles, Seattle Totems memorabilia, Seattle Sounders NASL pin, Seattle Sonics program, etc.

Great video George! Second time around, much more vintage to see! Thanks for sharing!
You bet! I liked seeing it again too. It's fun remembering these along with you
You are the perfect example of, "Do what you love, then find out how to make money at it."
True story! I could've done many other things but this was it
Wow your right everything is extremely shoppable, everything is categorized and looks amazing, most people just keep their booths looking the same, I love how you bring in beautiful new furniture pieces to display everything, that's make a world of a difference!!!!😊
Thanks, I'm glad that shows! Since I'm breaking a lot of retail display rules by overcrowding, I have to be really thoughtful about those other aspects
I always learn a lot from you as well as it being enjoyable. Thanks.
Thank you too!
Love the Smokey Bear. Have started a collection in honor of two 90+ year old uncles who retired from the Forest Service.
Neat! I saw where the real "Smokey" was found in New Mexico, very interesting story
Amazing,so many wonderful things and avenues to travel,,,,
I've had a lot of luck lately and love traveling the avenues!
Thanks for the tour of WA & your wonderful booths & of course, as usual, the antiqucation 😁
I love that word! Thank you too
Hi George another great video that little baby cue-pi so cute!😊 Good luck to your sales!
I love the German tall narrow China hutch. 👍🏻💕
I really like that one too!
Great video Georgie! Loving your Epic antique mall space stuff! So much MCM! Loved those huge orange lamps!
I sure did too!
Wow! Thank you for the tour of your spaces. So many pieces caught my eye.
Hi, Elsie! I'm glad you were entertained, I know you look at particular categories and there were a few there!
What a nice relaxing time , wonderful way to start my evening!
I'm glad we get to relax together (while we watch me work, lol!)
Same
WOW! I honestly do not know how you do all you do! I can only surmise that you found a working teleportation device at some estate sale. Thanks for all your terrific videos!
I wish! I'll be first in line when they invent one
Thanks George!
Love your booths, great job setting them up.
Glad you like them! I have fun putting it together
Ñice town.born and raised here. It sure has changed
I loved seeing the buildings as you went around and of course the antique/vintage items❤️🦘🐨
Loved the kewpie and February girl, always enjoy your videos 😁
Thanks so much 😊
Great video, really fun to see a day in the life. I wanted to mention that I especially appreciate your pragmatic approach to pricing. Interest and prices ebb and flow and I see too many dealers stubbornly stick to prices that are no longer realistic. You are showing that by being aware of trends and interests we can continue to be successful in this industry. Love your channel!
I’m glad you understand my theory about pricing and sales! I want people to succeed and keeping it moving rather than making it a museum is key
George thank you showing me Seattle, I went once it was beautiful. I had never seen so many colors on the trees, feast for my eyes.
It is so lovely there, I"m glad you got to see
Hello George, always very interesting and enjoyable watching your videos here in the United Kingdom.
Take care on your travels good hunting thank you for helping to preserve your country's history.
Paul. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
Hello, Paul! Thank you so much for your interest. We do get quite a number of English goods here as well
Great video - thanks for sharing George.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hello, just met your mom today in Goodwill in Delaware. She saw what I was sourcing to resell and she told me about you and your channel. Figured I’d stop by and check it out👍 Fun video, thanks for showing me around Seattle along with your Antique Store.
Oh my goodness! That's so interesting. I try to share information and knowledge as much as possible to help other resellers, I'm overdue to visit her in Delaware and hopefully I'll run into you too! Where do you sell?
@@TheAntiqueNomad Thanks for writing back 👍🏼 you have a nice momma. I sell mostly on EBay. I’m retired so it’s a fun thing for me to do 🤗 Nice learning about history of items. I enjoyed seeing Seattle and hearing the history of your area. Thank you!
Love the Kewpie. I would love to have one like this! My grandmother let me play with a composite Kewpie as a little girl in the 70s because the crown was damaged on it. I used to wheel it around in the house in a little wicker pram. I got to only hold my Aunt’s huge composition baby doll that wore a toddler size vintage blue jumper which was my uncle’s with a white Peter Pan collar. It had a beautiful painted face and brown hair. Really don’t think my Aunt ever played with it and Grandma kept it in pristine condition. I hope it stayed in the family. My Aunt passed away a couple weeks ago. Grand ma always told me I MUST keep my Barbies. Unfortunately I never kept the original dresses and shoes together and cut their hair. I think the second hand case which was vintage would be worth more then the old Barbies! My Mother family had a lot of Hall, Hull? Pitcher, vases and bowls. They were used so the have chipped and repaired so only sentimental. Mom still has a bit in storage that aren’t.
Neat story about your childhood and family dolls! I think they're a particularly sweet collectible when they transcend generations
@Erinn Swan, I, too, was entertained by your family anecdotes. You should write these stories down so they can be passed down through the ages. Fyi, I only had one Barbie, back in the day, so if I had a friend over, she had to bring her own Barbie. I never cut her hair & still have her in a Lane cedar chest. Fun memories.
Love these videos. I would love to snoop around your booths.
Thanks! Come visit someday
Hi, George! LOVE that German cabinet AND that detailed, carved shelf! WOW! Your booths are packed with the best eclectic! 💕
Thanks so much! It is eclectic but I have fun with it. I like those two pieces in particular!
Never saw wings on Cupie doll before! Wow!
Your restocking looks really wonderful, good eye for stuff.
Thanks so much! I'm excited for a good fall
Saw the Chinese water shaker mom mom used to moisten laundry before ironing! My brother kept it when she passed. Fun!!
Welcome back to WA.
Georgia near Olympia.
Thanks for the informative videos.
Thank you too! I'm glad you're enjoying it
Well now you are in my stomping ground. My store was in the old firehouse under the viaduct. I spent alot of time in Pioneer Square and was there until they closed. I bet we know some of the same people from the nineties!
I loved that store! I'm sure we know people in common.
Everyone should watch George he is very smart
Thank you for the trip down memory lane! I grew up on Whidbey Island, and have been to all your travel spots in the video. I so long for Snohomish, as I went there often to get away from life. So many beautiful things in one place! I was wondering if all the antique stores were still in existence. It’s been 20 years since I was there. I have been back to Wa. Many times, but never made it to some of my precious favs.
A lot of them are still there! I agree, it's a great place to get away and forget all the outside noise
Whew George…..what GREAT, well thought out, beautifully displayed booths! Thanks 4 the tour…surely u MUST have a twin that does some of this travel¿ I don’t kno HOW u do it, but u do it WELL…👏❤…..oliver
Thank you kindly! I'm trying hard, it's a lot of work but I love doing it
the blue slag glass candlesticks that youre surprised havent sold move them out of the window and towards the interior of your booth (or send me a pic so i can see them better i love blue lol) they might sell quicker. a lot of times stuff in the window may draw you in but are soon forgotten when everything else is in front of you inside and more than not are so hard to get to that most ppl wont bother to try.
Yes that is true! That shelf is pretty buried. If I get a chance I'll send pics
I'll have to check out your booth in Seattle, we went to chehalis and stopped at your booth and really enjoyed looking thru your things.
That's neat! I hope you found something in Centralia, there's so much there
Really enjoyed seeing your other booths George. Hope to see you in Havana!🥰
Can't wait! Please come, it's next Sunday
My son lives in Seattle. Now I have 2 reasons to visit. I’ll have to bring the big car though 😊❣️
Plan to haul things back!
Thank You George !
Hey George! Your booth in Seattle would be fun to go through. There were several items there that caught my eye. The Kewpie looked like a really nice one. I liked the form of the Viking decanter, but not wild about flashed glass. That Roseville, in your Snohomish space, is fantastic! Loved the German china cabinet! I'd likely end up with those red airplanes. Those are something I really like. I like the Puss-in-Boots pieces. I have some really old P-i-B books. I noticed the Turkish flag there. I have a lot of friends in Turkey. The R S Prussia is beautiful. That was a great tour!!! Thanks for taking us along!!!!!
Hi Mark! The kewpie was quite sweet. I've seen the Blenko piece in non-Viking colors (solid Blenko color, Forest Green I think) so it's possible to get a non-flashed version. I felt happy to have the Roseville, it's selling well enough at today's prices to be worth having and it looks great. I didn't realize you knew people in Turkey, that must be an interesting story! Thanks for enjoying my busy day with me
Thanks!
Oh, that's great! I'm so thankful for your contribution, it helps keep all this fun stuff going
Wow u have lots!
I sure am heavily stocked right now
I found some great deals at St. Vincent's. The one near me closed.😥
Great video !
Thanks!
George, your spaces are incredible. I'd surely go broke if I lived anywhere near there. The red Spode dishware towards the end would look so lovely on a Christmas dinner table. Do you ever take a day off?
Rarely! I agree that the Spode would be perfect for holidays
Fun. So many, many things in the Centrailia Tower Avenue Antiques shop seem to have my name on them! Even though I live in Portland I've not been that far North in years. My son and daughter-in-law have moved to Seattle this month ( pretty bummed about that) so I will be sure to stop in once we're invited to visit, lol.
Leesa, does it rain in Portland as much as is rumored??
How many antique booths do you have and what states ? You should list them for us so if we are that way we could stop by. Liked the driving around and seeing different buildings etc. You are such a busy man. ✨✨✨ Loved that China cabinet from Germany !! That kitchen queen cabinet, love it.
I like those pieces too! I have 3 in Washington (Seattle-Snohomish-Centralia), one in GIlbertsville, Kentucky and 2 in St. Petersburg, Florida
@@TheAntiqueNomad Thankyou George
@@TheAntiqueNomad dang! You're definitely living up to your moniker 😲
Hello George!
Hi there!
Hi George. Love that figural metal lamp of the 2 women in your booth at 5:47. Was trying to see how much you had on it. ;)
She was $125 but she sold yesterday :(
@@TheAntiqueNomad oh no :( a day too late. I do appreciate you letting me know. :)
Nobody minds crowded booths of good things,,,!!! Ifyou were asking, even though you didnt, not sure the underlay of music adds much😍. Just one opinion.
Music is tricky, sometimes it's an unfortunate necessity to cover up copyrighted music playing in the background of these places
💗
Your booth space is just amazing. I'm new to having a booth any suggestions on staging? Color coordinating etc
Hi Nadia! I would say that color coordinating is an easy way to organize if you have a lot of random items, otherwise perhaps by type (e.g. a kitchen area, a jewelry/boudoir area, etc.). However you do it, staggering the heights of things so the eye carries up and down and looks at more (rather than just rows of even items on even shelves) will help bring people through the space.
How do you identify the old baskets from the newer or vintage ones. I see baskets like the handled one every once in a while and I have always assumed they are newer....
Hi George I enjoy the knowledge you share I learn so much watching you ! I was, fortunate to thrift a Vandermark Merrit Starr cased flower vase and am in a quandary how to sell I am in Spring Hill fl can you point me to the right direction ?
Wonderful! Those are pretty and seem to sell fairly well on eBay, you might set either a reserve or do a buy it now/ best offer, could do well as Christmas gift if you get it on there now
@@TheAntiqueNomad I was thinking a local sell any recommendations to contact in the Tampa area
Hey George. I am seriously looking for some Kriess psycho ceramics. Can you keep a eye out. I would appreciate it.
Please send a request to me at theantiquenomad@gmail.com, I think I have one in stock
Okay. Thank you. I am so tried today. Broke down the estate sale i worked an start setting up a new one tomorrow. So i will email you tomorrow.
I found a native pineneedles basket with lid for 4.99. How do you price your baskets?. I have no idea what it's worth.
I’d have to see it. You can send a pic to my appraisal service at my website, theantiquenomad.com and if it’s not worth a lot the evaluation is no charge
TSA murdered the Haegar gazelle?!? 😳😳😳
I had it packed very carefully in a checked box, they took it out to "inspect", crammed it back in so the packing didn't cover the top, and it was broken in four pieces when it got to me
I don't see much glass in the 4 corners area...
I noticed that too, seems like pottery and ceramics are more prevalent there
@@TheAntiqueNomad yes, that is true. Farmington has a community college with a very good pottery program. So we have the benefit of a lot of native pottery and contemporary artists locally. You find a lot of Native American Jewelry in this area as well.
25:11 IS THAT A CONANT BALL CHAIR ?
They did start out doing caned chairs, I don't know their early designs well enough to tell whether this one is or not
now nap!
Will do!
Seriously, if I get tired just WATCHING this marathon, I wonder how George feels EXPERIENCING, FILMING and EDITING it all??
I thought you lived in Florida ??
Part of the year I do
@@TheAntiqueNomad Cool I live in Ft. Lauderdale.
An uncoordinated person hit the wrong button!
178 folks watching this tonight and 177 of them are so serious that I am fixing to have a nose bleed. Underneath that slender man appearance lies a sick and twisted sense of humor. You are very much like the little brother I never wanted and therefore, I am taking it upon myself to make sure that you stay grounded, lol once in awhile and force you to realize that life is just for shits and giggles, well atleast until Zeno giggles and shits. Messy, messy messy.
I’m always right there “shitting & giggling” with you-if only in spirit! 😂 Keep ‘em coming! 😉
Lol that's funny and true! There's not a diaper large enough...
