The 3 hole pamphlet stitch is fairly simple and good for hardcover books. When I make a sewed fabric journal I use Dollarama pre cut card stock… 2 pieces glued together for each part of the book cover. It gives the book shape without bulk and you can sew right through it with the sewing machine 😊
I love your cover I think it's the prettiest one that you've made since I been watching you and your so much smarter than me cause I decorate my pages before I sew them in and it's a lot harder to me

You need to get yourself an awl, it is a good investment, and makes bookbinding do much easier and simpler than a knife.
