The T1 mages are really the bread and butter of this faction if you focus on the tomes that provide them useful enhancements. If you go down the nature tree and get decaying... Combined with early horde and summon irregulars...you can have whole stacks of highly veteran ones by the mid game that just melt almost anything at a fraction of the cost other factions would have with their T2 -T3 mages.

The Spellshields also apply Sundered resistance on their standard melee attack, as well as the pikemen. Makes them even better!

My mystic route i just went full bore on the T1 mages. They just murdered everything.

True. I got all the enhancements and just build a good frontline. It’s fun zapping enemies.
On late game, I just get the mirror tome and let the chaos begin!

Same. I have maybe two melee units per army just to hold the enemy in place while I bomb spells and magic into them

Can you do a "Wildlife Sanctuary" unit guide? Goretusk Piglet, Hunter Spider, Razorback, Warg, that can just be added to any culture's roster by just dipping into Tome of Beasts? I would be interested in your opinion on how much that adds to which culture.
Also, I haven't tested yet, whether this selection changes by turning the Sanctuary hex into an Arctic hex.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Star Blades only add up to 3 elemental damage? It says 1 Fire, Frost, OR Lighting damage (stacks up to 3 times). Idk if it treats each element as a unique stack or not, but I can't really test it right now.

Huh, that's a very interesting question there, I'll do some science and let you guys know in the advanced guide I'm working on for the Mystics =)

I think you are correct. Keep in mind thats up to +3 for each attack on repeating attacks though!

It is 3 damage total, per attack, but if you have 3 attacks that's 9 damage.
Star blades isn't a big deal.on high tier units, but on those tier 1 units it's +25% damage. It makes a big difference!

Stumbled across your channel earlier this week and I’ve been loving your content.
Im curious if you could help me, or provide some direction, to create this race: The Holy Mole-ian Empire.
So they would be underground mana addicted moles that are masters of enchantments. But the twist is no/limited spell casters and instead focuses on ranged and melee (it’ll be Pokémon style where I pick up all the weapon enchantments)
So I guess which culture is best for physical ranged attacks and what should I pair with runesmiths

Feudal plays really nice with enchantment heavy builds and also would fit nicely into the "no direct spellcasting" idea. The Bannerman is their only magic attacker, so that's fitting as well.
And of course Industrious. Cause they just synergize amazingly well with enchants AND feature a strict physical only damage roster.
That's at least the two most attractive contenders I'd say. I played Runesmith Feudal a while ago and it smacks.

thank you and keep up the great content.
Your recent materium + cav build has inspired me to do a moral sucking Wild Hunt build too

T1 mages with enchantments nuke all the way into endgame. Pick up some enchanted iron golems and your set.

Arcane Guards are the secret weapon for the Mystic faction. Their super-low upkeep plus tier 1 battle mages mean that Mystics are a much better early game / horde faction than you might expect. And that relatively low base damage looks a lot better with +elemental damage added.
Play Mystics with Mana Addicts, and spam Guardsmen, maybe even take tome of the horde, and you can do some crazy stuff pretty early, even if your long-term goal is to summon tier 4 and tier 5 magic units.

Haha, that was exactly my thought when I did my first culture guide about these =) Awesome to see that I'm not alone with that.
