My wife has a DUAL 1226 that hasn't been operated for years, and watching this and other of your videos will help me bring it back to full working order, a big thank you!
I was very disappointed with your unfinished repair in the previous video. Now I feel relieved ! I am happy you didn't give up ! Now I can gladly give you thumbs up in both videos !
@@12voltvids I've been mechanically inclined and worked on cars much of my life. I don't have patience for small details. The fact that you figured this out and came back to make the video about it was very impressive. it made me say to myself "I wish this guy was local because I would send my equipment to him"
Dave, don't feel like this was a waste of time. (I know you were just venting) Sometimes it just becomes a mental challenge. You want to get the item working and then you find yourself getting deeper and deeper into the repair.. We have all been there. Great repair and glad you got it working. Hope the customer appreciates your effort!
Hi, love watching you work on these duals and has helped me a lot with my recent dual 1219. Im sure i saw one with tone arm not going on the record. Have i imagined this as im searching your videos again. When stacking and playing on the first record the arm rises, goes across to the record then as it drops it slides away and misses. When i put it on the record to listen at the end of play the next record drops and arm works as it should....
Even in the factory you had a lot of adjustments to make on those mechanisms, just to get them to work. Then as parts wear you have to compensate by bending things even more.
Hello, do you have a video where you change the dearing ring or the bearing assembly. Hello again, my diaring ring broke, and I don't know what the procedure is to change it. I already bought it. I would be very grateful for your help. Thank you.
Smashing repair, it just had to be right :-D I don't suppose most people think about the clever mechanism, i wonder if anyone made a transparent record deck just for the novelty. I bet people would have bought that in the hayday of records.
Any idea why the arm doesn't return all the way on to the rest? Or is that just an issue with these? I have a Dual 714Q with auto-stop and return that does this too. It doesn't put the arm all the way onto the rest when stopping, but it does switch off the motor. And what's with the "ramp" ahead of the rest for? Mine had one that was adjustable up and down (it pivoted at the point that it connects to the rest) but it broke and I haven't gotten a replacement yet. But seeing that yours is intact and it still doesn't put the arm all the way onto the rest makes me think it doesn't really do anything?
I have a DUAL 1249. There is a big spring like piece which is like a big clip under the tonearm plate between the multiplayer shaft's sleeve. its like a safety pin. it looks like a hasp. What if its missing? I thing it rests the other shaft and creates a tension to be stable... Whats that big wire spring called sir?
i just fixed a bsr changer the platter was stuck on by hard grease so i loosened it with lighter fluid and blew a hair dryer on it from above then i turned it upside down and blew on it that way that's when the platter came loose. the extra heat from underneath did it
It could also be the arm leading to the power switch is gummed up and requires a little ipa and lube. Follow it back from the power switch and lube the main pivots. A gummed up pivot near the center of the table is a culprit for duals not turning off at the end of cycle. It controls the power arm via the cam mechanism.

Good, I am glad you did not give up on this turn table. I have a few of them and they work great for many years.
I knew you wouldn't let this one stay broken! Great job!
Yes! Thank you!

I lost my shirt on this one the time needed to straighten that part.

Damn! Happy it works! I really like the looks of this turntable!
well done, another fine job out the doori knew you had it in you...
Every time I adjust an automatic turntable Rube Goldberg’s cartoons come to mind. Nice job, I liked the demo.
Great discovery and fix Dave....wonder why Copper was used for this specific part
Because it flexes that's why.
Nicely done!
Thanks for the follow up vid, and glad you fixed it.
Exactly!
And I now appreciate why automatic record players where much more expensive than manual ones.
:D - Well done! Most would have given up but you stuck with it and did a great job!
Got to keep you in suspense. A cliffhanger, will it get fixed or not.

Just like German cars. High maintenance.
Hello, do you have a video where you change the dearing ring or the bearing assembly?
Not resting perfectly at the end of the cycle would have me up until the sun comes out figuring it out.
Great job !!

Well, I guess you could say you won the duel against the Dual...
какой выиграл нах
че ты мелишь
дуал бы его отквасил по самой небалуй
As always excellent work

How to repair if the tune arm doesn't me when the automatic switch is turned on?
Steuerpimple
So helpful. Thank you.

I have 2 1219s with this problem, hopefully I can get them going (or should I say stopping) now.

That's great.
But did you ever test its speed accuracy yet?
No but it has a pitch control so that won't be an issue.
does leaving a tape in any vcr for a day or so leave a problem
thanks in advace
I have left tapes in for months.
When you stop automatic, the motor still running?
No
YES!!! 🍻💪🏆🎉💯
