This reminds me of a story I came up with, but never fully written. It would take place during the time skip of season 9 after the three villains were defeated and petrified. It all started when Shining Armor and Flash Sentry looked into King Sombra’s Door of Fear. It showed them the three villains that were defeated at the end breaking out, running amok, and taking over Equestria. They were afraid of losing their loved ones like they almost did in reality. Remembering the pain that was caused by the three villains and how close they were to destroying Equestria, Shining Armor and Flash Sentry do something controversial. The prince has his vanguard execute the three villains in their petrified state to make sure they could never return in the future. Cadance, being a princess of a loving heart doesn’t like this but chooses not to stop her husband as he made valid arguments for their world’s future. If Discord could break out, so could they. Princess Twilight, however doesn’t like this idea at all, being a princess of a forgiving heart who recognizes that one is a child, one is a mother, and one used to be part of a family… even if they were enemies and threats to the world, she wanted to give them another chance. King Thorax was also against this as he wanted to protect his mother, even if she was a monster. He had hoped he would be able to change her mind. But it’s too late. It’s already done. They were all executed. This was an act that sparked a conflict between the two sides when the Prince and the Vanguard decided to launch an airborne assault against Equestria as a means of testing their resolve. If Princess Twilight was going to lead Equestria to a bright future, she needs to be willing to step out of her comfort zone. Just as Meta-Knight needed to test Kirby’s medal as the hero of Dreamland, Shining Armor takes on a temporary antagonist role and brings the thunder from his airship with Flash Sentry as his lightning. The role of Meta-Knight is shared between the two stallions. One to command and one to fight. Princess Twilight has to stop what corrupting force has taken hold of them and save Equestria or be ultimately proven wrong about the magic of friendship and the virtues of forgiveness. if she and her friends were to fail, her new rule over the land would be compromised and Equestria would find itself under new management. This would spark an all-out war between the kingdoms. The friendship and harmony that Twilight and her friends fought for would be lost for good. All the while, King Sombra is laughing from beyond the grave. That door needs to be destroyed. Perhaps if Cadence figures this out before it’s too late, she can stop this madness!
