Love to see Flygon understanding the truest maxim of attacking moves in Pokemon
If it ain't 100% accurate, it's 0% accurate.
I genuinely loathe the hustle ability existing, as well as moves like focus miss or stone edge. Thunder and blizzard are inaccurate but can be made perfectly accurate with weather and there are also less powerful but fully accurate moves of the same move and attack type, but there are some types like physical rock and special fighting where most pokemon don't have access to a solid accurate move, being stuck with only the inaccurate gamble move like focus blast rather than having access to aura sphere
Ye but without a share of randomness the game becomes predictable and it won't be as engaging in some ways. When I played magic the gathering I realised tha No matter what you do you are still playing a card game so luck can screw you up! I loved the game so much and although you still needed to understand the game and match the power level of your opponent's deck randomness could make you win or lose.
I want to say that if you respect the meta then randomness is fine, it is just the unpredictable factor. Knowing it you can always try and play around it there are also balancing reasons around it. @@MarkofWisdom

Honestly I love Flygon's self awareness. The checklist about tropes to fulfil in an Ultra Moon nuzlocke, such as a rant on the cutscenes and the underestimation of Totem Marowak, etc. are great. Not to mention the omni-present and increasingly insane ad segways!

Challenge Idea:
"Doing It Wrong" Challenge. Hardcore Nuzlocke, No encounter restrictions, but every pokemon you have, it may only use attacking moves of the less powerful category (physical or special) in battle. Special Gyarados, Physical Alakazam, you name it.
I think this would be fun for pokemon with a strong preference/aptitude for one, but a terrible learnset with only great moves in the other. Such pokemon would probably shine!

I actually did the special gyrados, my first pokemon game was sun, and I had no idea how it worked. I knew dragon dance was good but my mega gyrados would capitalize on the boost with... Hydro Pump. So that's cool

They feel like a genuine challenge and I especially like learning about new moves and tactics. Like, Malamar's Topsy turvy! A new way to beat Ultra Necrozma! It's all really really cool :)

The part about Megan and sacrifices being hard is highkey emblematic of why your channel is my favorite in the nuzlocke scene. Nuzlockes used to be about using guys you’ve never considered and making them your friend. Your special guy. And caring way too much when one of your special guys dies and screaming with joy when they don’t. The original nuzlocke was a comic, it was about the *story* you could tell and I loved that. After years where it’s all been boiled down to team building to nth degree and making sacs on purpose, most nuzlocke runs just don’t interest me anymore.
They lack compassion, I guess is what I’m trying to say. Your pokemon runs are peak exactly because you still make it feel like you’re enjoying the game instead of just enjoying being *good* at the game. Suboptimal is better sometimes, yknow?
I think watching a Halloween run were you are tormented the whole time would be interesting.
And by tormented I mean the effect of the move torment is always active on your side, no using moves twice in a row.
i really enjoy seeing the newer games because you get to see more of a variety rather than just the same teams over and over again

Helping Hand-boosted, +3 Sp. Attack, STAB-boosted Bug Buzz from Totem Ribombee yet Alolan Muk managed to survive it, I know it has quite the good Special bulk but my goodness that is insane for Ghostface to do so!
It's crazy just how much harder Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are than any other Pokemon games. The 2v1 totem matches, the stat boosts (even omni boosts) to start the battles, the fully maxed out EV's, all things you really don't see in any other game from the series. Most nuzlocke's can be beaten either deathless or with very few sacrifices but these games basically rely on dodging crits at certain times and making strategic sacrifices. These games are a couple minor tweaks away from being more like a ROM hack than a vanilla game. Great video, how dare you allow Alolan Muk to die like that and look forward to the next one!
Sableye is my all-time favorite Pokémon and it's so satisfying to see the little goblin show off her potential in a nuzlocke. Excellent video, as usual, Dr. HG!
I did a Scarlet/Violet Soullink with a friend, and I had a Sableye on my final team, paired with his Toxtricity. They were a great pair!

Always good to find an early run easy. Good muse to themes on which games and types to use, and can be interesting to envision what other methods can entail a nuzlocke run, like if you played GoldSilver only using the Pokemon who gain evolutions in later titles.

I never managed myself to complete a Sun & Moon/Ultra vanilla nuzlocke. I don't play with calcs though since I'm terrible at math and all the cutscenes drive me insane lol

That Ultra Necrozma strategy was outstanding! That fight is so monstrous that I always look forward to seeing how Nuzlockers handle it.
It would be maybe neat to see a nuzlocke using only pokemon that have fainted in previous nuzlockes of that region. A little all-stars redemption round if you will.

I like seeing the nuzlockes in Alola. With different max levels and real fights to watch out for, it's much more interesting and varied than a lineup of gym leaders.

ultra sun/moon are my favorite pokemon games- they’re really challenging (even if sometimes that challenge is my patience lmao) and the variety of pokemon and options makes it really enjoyable!

Unpopular opinion: the alola games are the best main series games if you're emulating and have a save file past the beginning.

Alola and Generation 7 as a whole brought me back to Pokemon after my long, long hiatus following Pokemon Platinum in Gen 4 so I’d love to see more Alola runs that’s for sure. I’m currently in the middle of 2 Alola runs myself, one being a Sun Dark Type Only and the other being an Ultra Moon Normal Type Only. Nuzlocking Gen 7 is one of the more fun times I have playing Pokemon…

@@Ando1428maybe because they… didnt make the games with hardcore nuzlocking in mind? Their goal was something different which was no gyms and instead boss battles which worked rlly well. Level caps werent rlly of any concern because the totems level didnt rlly make too much of a difference since they are carried by ally pokemon, stat buff and any strategy they have in the moveset. Because the game isnt suited for a self-imposed way of playing doesnt make bad.
I am always positive with these videos since they are so cool but I can’t bring myself to forgive Flygon for getting Babadook killed for a dollar store eevolution.
I do like these! Personally, my favorite nuzlocks are DPPt, XY, and Unova stuff, but I like the current mix of variety a lot.

It's cool that you finally got to pull off the Malamar topsy-turvy tech for a totem fight, I remember you getting Inkay early in at least one or two other Alola runs where it didn't live long enough to make it happen
Also, I have a challenge suggestion. It sounds pretty simple, but I think doing a run where you're not allowed to use super effective moves could result in some interesting strategies since one shots would become far less common (or maybe it could just be broken through normal type spam lol)

Alola games are always nice for monotype challenges. The variety on available Pokémon gives room for some nice team formations.
If you'd have postponed catching rattata until the dexio and sina fight in akala you could have got totem raticate that is coded to never have hustle.
