I am a self confessed centre left Blairite, but I'm finding myself more and more drawn to the SDP, I'm left on some things and right on others, I'm pro nationalisation of certain industries, water etc, and I'm anti immigration, so the SDP's stance kind of suits me!

Great video! The SDP have by far the best set of policies, very well researched and free from ideological capture. Sometimes a policy looks 'right wing', sometimes it looks 'left wing'. But their policies are always developed for the optimum outcome for our country. Put simply, the SDP is a grown up, serious minded party for very serious times.

Like many here I couldn’t vote SDP because they didn’t stand where I am. I hope the party really kicks into gear in the next 5 years. This party has the seriousness, the professionalism, it has the policies, it even has a quiet sustained ground game but what it really needs is exposure. The party really needs to up its PR game. There’s no reason that in 5 years, the party can’t be sending MP’s into Westminster and a plan to make that happen really needs to start now.
I am voting Reform but if I wasn't then I would give the SDP serious consideration. They have many good policies but also some that don't quite align with my beliefs that said aside from Reform they are way better than the legacy parties.
It is one of the greatest political travesties that the SDP is not one of our major parties... Hopefully by the 2029 election they will be. I'll certainly be doing what I can to help.
I was brought up conservative and believe that we should have small government and low taxes because I believe I can spend my money better than them . I have however changed my mind on some things such as public ownership of utilities and trains which should be returned to state ownership but with a no strike clause . I believe this could be achieved by paying the same wage to the employees with inflation matching rises each year , this would solve the problem that arose before where they held the country to ransom. Not only do I agree with the SDP’s immigration halt for a generation but we should actively deport illegals and criminals because we must reverse as much as possible the erosion of our culture. I also think benefits should be linked to previous earnings and private healthcare for foreigners must be at their expense . We must stop giving money away to NGOs and foreign entities whether net zero or humanitarian while we are broke as a country and I have always thought if and when we live in utopia then and only then should we help. Unfortunately they are not standing where I live so I will vote for reform, not because I like or want their policies but I believe they may destroy the Tories , fingers crossed.
We are building nicely. All the things you said above are aligned nicely with our policies. Join us, and make us even stronger. We will have a full suite of MPs next time if likeminded people get on board :)

The bit where she knocks on the Labour house and the stereotype homosexual who is horrified at Blonde Lady questioning unfettered illegal immigration is priceless - mainly due to the irony of the whole thing being utterly barking. Compared to this lot the Reform UK "contract" actually makes sense.
The SDP is a traditionalist, family orientated party. It is bizarre that an aberrant community that represents 1% of the population, always expect to be treated with a deference they don't deserve. The UK was much better before 1967 and I hope the SDP supports the restoration of clause 28 of the Local Government Act 1988. It was a popular policy!
The Reform contract has been cobbled together on the hoof it seems. Nigel Farage is a very good showman but weak on policy detail. Reform of the NHS - look at France :) No, the SDP has a very strong policy manifesto which strongly appeals to the mainstream voter who is rejecting the Tory-Labour duopoly.

Where we are very much in agreement is the push for electoral reform and introducing PR (could be SDP/R/LibDem/GP combined push for this to force Labour's hand).

It's basically many Reform policies other than nationalising public services. Many want to renationalise them in the party, got to keep pushing for it over the next few years.

A rare swing and miss on this one I think, team. I'd love to see SDP rallying around Reform this election. They're far from perfect but they can be a wedge smaller parties can rally around until we're able to get PR enacted and then smaller better parties like SDP can get a look-in.

Agree but reform are a company with no voting rights whereas SDP are a party in the traditional sense however all of these small parties are dividing a vote to the overwhelming number of voters by doing this and the FPTP system is designed to vote for the two big parties and stop new parties from growing. Until we get PR this will not change .
Though I agree with Reform's cultural message, and confronting the pro-migration lobby, I also fundamentally disagree with neoliberal economics. It might be "pro success", but it's also profoundly anti-society. Financial success should not rest on rampant mercinary individualism. That's how we've ended up where we are. The SDP are offering a much more pragmatic, cohesive approach on that front, so I finally feel like I have a political home. Just a shame that the "natural-Labour" parts of the West Mids (we all know what that means), aren't running SDP candidates.

Why stand for election in my area (Blaydon on Tyne) when your candidate lives in Lancashire. I doubt he knows where Blaydon is, or has ever been here. I would never vote for a local councillor or MP candidate if they don't at least live in the county
I'd take somebody from Cornwall, if they were the best for the job :)

They are illegal and should be deported on arrival, or it just opens the flood gates, and doesn't allow for consideration of real families sat in refugee camps for years.

I'd love to see SDP rallying around Reform this election. They're far from perfect but they can be a wedge smaller parties can rally around until we're able to get PR enacted and then smaller better parties like SDP can get a look-in.
That's why SDP and Reform have 12 joint candidates in this election :)

Voters who generally agree with SDP have much in common with voters who generally agree with Reform so why not unite?
Agree but reform are a company with no voting rights whereas SDP are a party in the traditional sense however all of these small parties are dividing a vote to the overwhelming number of voters by doing this and the FPTP system is designed to vote for the two big parties and stop new parties from growing. Until we get PR this will not change .

Though I agree with Reform's cultural message, and confronting the pro-migration lobby, I also fundamentally disagree with neoliberal economics. It might be "pro success", but it's also profoundly anti-society. Financial success should not rest on rampant mercinary individualism. That's how we've ended up where we are. The SDP are offering a much more pragmatic, cohesive approach on that front, so I finally feel like I have a political home. Just a shame that the "natural-Labour" parts of the West Mids (we all know what that means), aren't running SDP candidates.
