At least developers tried to do something different than another crappy fighting game out of an anime license *coughDBZcough* or a decent Visual Novel, especially if said anime license has a setting that's worth exploring in a video game genre that fits it perfectly. While DBZ Kakarot was a commercial success, that genre they've chosen for it was painfully wrong as it didn't fit the license at all, or at least half of it. The first half of Dragon Ball was about an adventure around the world with Goku and friends looking for the namesake McGuffin while also giving time for character development. The second half of it eschew EVERYTHING that made the first half great by just making it feel like a Dynasty Warriors-esque game where it's just about 10% story scenes and 90% fighting, with the same copy-paste narrative structure used up until the end (bad guy gets introduced, wants to destroy the planet, the heroes fight them and get their asses kicked, the heroes getting they power up moment, the heroes fight the bad guy again and win the battle, use the Dragon Balls to reverse the damage caused by the villain... repeat at nauseum when necessary) and culminating with a rushed and unsatisfied ending. Series like One Piece and Sword Art Online have living breathing worlds worthy of an adventure or RPG style video game, even if the end results are filled with a low budget jank. Those series also need the RIGHT developer to pull that off with enough love and care, which isn't the case for most of Dragon Ball's video game history as evidenced by the metric fuckton of crappy games that came out of it and yet are still successful financially somehow. I'd rather play a bad-to-decent anime licensed game like most of Aquria's SAO games and the more recently released Made in Abyss game by Spike Chunsoft than another crappy fighter like DB's any day, especially since you can find some gems in the rough pile of garbage.
At the end of chapter 2 the difficulty feels much better balanced. This is a good game. Wish it had an english dub. My wife likes it more if she dosent have to see the screen to fallow the story. I play and she knits. As is its only for me. I find I am playing this as slow and chill as possible. For me this shows how much I'm enjoying my time.
My problem with this game is why they are using rock paper scissor thingy instead of element, Imagine how diverse the team will be if they were having element resistance/weakness. Also the dungeon feels too cramped with maze like design. But I love that they finally make an RPG, hopefully Naruto will get it too.
What I learned is that some games idea of making it harder only means making it more time consuming- there is literally no point in making a game drawn out and take longer to complete- it doesnt make you smarter or better than someone who played on easy. I've completed 100% on some games on highest difficulty for personal bragging rights but there are some games not worth the time-wasting hassle of that because they're truly more enjoyable on normal or easier difficulties
Not the first time they pull of the whole "memory" crap Unlimited games are notorious for doing so but it seems most people only know Unlimited world red.
@Drooly it helps the game get more longevity an also makes it more enjoyable most the time. Dragon Quest 11 is a prime example of a JRPG with a hard mode aswell as options that limit the player adding more difficulty to the game. Nothing wrong with it being a option

This can be found on the fandom wiki, I don’t want to spoil it in the comment’s section for those trying to avoid that. I will say it’s a few arcs that have not been covered in games.
Finish that arc and the next, and you'll be fine. There's one arc in the game that takes place after that section, but I'm sure you can just wait to go there.
game takes place After Dressrosa arc thats around chapter 700 plus. The 4 arcs the game cover are All time favorites and Dressrosa. Only reason we get dressorsa is cause this game took 5 plus years to make and at the time Dressora was the current arc. Anyway First Arc Alabasta, my fav arc of the series, is just classic one piece stopping and Org to take over a country in the dessert nation and help their friend Princess Vivi. 2nd Arc Water 7, arguable the best arc in one piece and has the best Pace but is split into 2 arc Water 7 and Ennies lobby together they form a big arc, ennies lobby is just fighting arc 3rd Arc Marineford, is just a big war the Previous Headquarters of the MArine to save Luffy's brother Ace from execution, turning point of the whole series Final Arc Dressrosa....fuck this arc. XD hope that helps.

Honestly I do not understand why so many people do not like the difficulty. And yes I played the demo so I see especially the beginning hours are easy but why is that bad? If I want harder rpgs I can play something like final fantasy or action rpgs like the souls games. Maybe I just wanna have a light hearted adventure with Luffy and the crew while soaking in the eye candy that is this games special moves. Ps. Do not use auto battle just because it is there unless your trying to speed run, those systems can ruin/easy mode most games they are in. IMO the reason I play an RPG is to choose each action myself that's why it is turn based, if you are letting the system play for you then you are only "playing" half the game.
for example, I was fighting against a mini-boss, I turned on auto-battle, left the room, made a bowl of cereal, ate it, and came back and the battle was won. Honestly, it was kinda nice, but I can see how that might annoy those who want to actually play a JRPG.
@@NoisyPixelNews see auto battle robs you of the "gameplay" if it's what you use. Same issue with auto in other games like dragon quest 11, bravely default 2, or even final fantasy 13. Yes you can use auto battle and get thru most those games except for key moments but then why even play the game.
@@raulrojas9253 I know some are easy but they do cap your damage at 9999 unless you have certain skills and that can end up making bosses later on feel very spongy. I personally have trouble beating final fantasy 10 without some grinding or using celestial weapons. The point was not every game needs to be "hardcore". Like it's ok to not be challenged by a game as long as you had fun and got your time out of it. There is no shortage of other hard games and the harder a game is the narrower the audience gets from a developers point of view.
The whole "Difficulty" in JRPG just baffles me, the vast majority of JRPG are easy games. FF 7 remake and P5 are among the most popular games along with DQ XI and those games are easy (For the vast majority of the run time) Hopefully Odyssey will have post game bosses.
I liked the demo a lot, except the super low difficulty. Hearing that this is the only difficulty option, this will be a no buy for me until they eventually change that...
Then Play only JRPG with difficulty settings like SMT nocturne or SMT V, persona games have difficulty options and yet they are easy, but those are 100 plus hours games, this one is just 35 hours.
Maybe future dlc will add a difficulty slider and new stories. Really hoping to see Gear 5th Luffy and some Wano stuff with dlc also new party members like Jimbei, Carrot and Law

Nope. Is because the dub almost killed One piece in the west. Last and only OP game dubbed I played was Unlimited Adventure on the wii, there is just no reason to waste money dubbing the game, is game for the fanbase and nothing else. It has failed many times in the past so Japan doesn't bother to dub them, plus the Jap Dub is so iconic at this point that there is no point in dubbing it, not even for new consumers, they would like to have those consumers get into one piece through the anime, the awful live action that is on the making, the manga, their gacha games, etc etc etc but not this game. It is what it is.

As an huge JRPG fan, and not really an anime fan, this is a struggle. I don't like the dramatic style most anime use, and One Piece seems to take that drama, and dramatize it MORE, which is EXTREMELY unappealing. But the game side of this game seems pretty good.

One Piece has a turbulent and terrible history with DUBS, it almost killed One Piece in the west, so Developers REFUSE to Dub One Piece games, it has failed many many times, heck the last and Only one piece dubbed that I played was One Piece Unlimited Adventure for the WII. Was the Debut of Franky.
I'm glad it's coming to gamepass otherwise I wouldn't play cause it doesn't have the option to play it with the Funimation English dub instead I have to be forced to read the subtitles when I just want to watch the cutscenes and understand the story without having to read.

I played the demo for about 15 minutes before getting bored to death. Am I the only one who's sick of these generic ass anime games and the brain dead fan boys that hype them up? I checked and it’s nothing that hasn’t been shown in the trailers or Steam page. Also, did not mention too much on the actual main story, instead focused on the Memoria section. Trust that we didn’t spoil the original story here.

Considering most anime based videogames are a degree between bad and mediocre, having an 8/10 for this one makes it actually interesting.
I found Fairy Tale pretty good and I dont even watch the anime. But I like Gust style of games so I wasn't surprised I enjoyed it.

Mindless difficulty is a huge turn off for me in any game these days. Challenge is essential to holding my attention.
I suspect a difficulty option may be patched in later. It really does need one based on the demo.

I really like the overall UI a game like star ocean had abysmal menu ai. I wish this game had English dub but I’m still defo picking this up.

for example, I was fighting against a mini-boss, I turned on auto-battle, left the room, made a bowl of cereal, ate it, and came back and the battle was won. Honestly, it was kinda nice, but I can see how that might annoy those who want to actually play a JRPG.
I have news for you, most FF games are easy until post game or super bosses.
FF 4 remake on DS is super hard thought.
@@NoisyPixelNews see auto battle robs you of the "gameplay" if it's what you use. Same issue with auto in other games like dragon quest 11, bravely default 2, or even final fantasy 13. Yes you can use auto battle and get thru most those games except for key moments but then why even play the game.
@@raulrojas9253 I know some are easy but they do cap your damage at 9999 unless you have certain skills and that can end up making bosses later on feel very spongy. I personally have trouble beating final fantasy 10 without some grinding or using celestial weapons. The point was not every game needs to be "hardcore". Like it's ok to not be challenged by a game as long as you had fun and got your time out of it. There is no shortage of other hard games and the harder a game is the narrower the audience gets from a developers point of view.
The whole "Difficulty" in JRPG just baffles me, the vast majority of JRPG are easy games. FF 7 remake and P5 are among the most popular games along with DQ XI and those games are easy (For the vast majority of the run time) Hopefully Odyssey will have post game bosses.

I liked the demo a lot, except the super low difficulty. Hearing that this is the only difficulty option, this will be a no buy for me until they eventually change that...

Then Play only JRPG with difficulty settings like SMT nocturne or SMT V, persona games have difficulty options and yet they are easy, but those are 100 plus hours games, this one is just 35 hours.

Maybe future dlc will add a difficulty slider and new stories. Really hoping to see Gear 5th Luffy and some Wano stuff with dlc also new party members like Jimbei, Carrot and Law

Last and only OP game dubbed I played was Unlimited Adventure on the wii, there is just no reason to waste money dubbing the game, is game for the fanbase and nothing else. It has failed many times in the past so Japan doesn't bother to dub them, plus the Jap Dub is so iconic at this point that there is no point in dubbing it, not even for new consumers, they would like to have those consumers get into one piece through the anime, the awful live action that is on the making, the manga, their gacha games, etc etc etc but not this game.

As an huge JRPG fan, and not really an anime fan, this is a struggle. I don't like the dramatic style most anime use, and One Piece seems to take that drama, and dramatize it MORE, which is EXTREMELY unappealing. But the game side of this game seems pretty good.
It's pretty straightforward as an RPG, they really lean into the One Piece way of storytelling.
I can tell you this, This is game for One Piece fans, If you don't like One piece, honestly just skip it.

One Piece has a turbulent and terrible history with DUBS, it almost killed One Piece in the west, so Developers REFUSE to Dub One Piece games, it has failed many many times, heck the last and Only one piece dubbed that I played was One Piece Unlimited Adventure for the WII. Was the Debut of Franky.
I'm glad it's coming to gamepass otherwise I wouldn't play cause it doesn't have the option to play it with the Funimation English dub instead I have to be forced to read the subtitles when I just want to watch the cutscenes and understand the story without having to read.

I played the demo for about 15 minutes before getting bored to death. Am I the only one who's sick of these generic ass anime games and the brain dead fan boys that hype them up? Nothing about what was said in the review says "8 out of 10", if you just want some more One Piece content, go watch the movies and stop hyping up 5 out of 10 games

I checked and it’s nothing that hasn’t been shown in the trailers or Steam page. Also, did not mention too much on the actual main story, instead focused on the Memoria section. Trust that we didn’t spoil the original story here.
