I bought a 2008 RZT 50 for $250 (in 2020)because the guy replace the pto and still didn't fix it. After finding a schematic, I trace it down to both reverse switch were bad. Just jumping both was all I had to do. Actually all I had to do was to jump one of them to get it to work. The diagram show that if both handle are pulled back it means you are in reverse. Home owners version of mowers need to shut off the blade in reverse. Now I think I need to rebuild both Trans. Keep those videos coming.

At the homestead here we removed the electric clutch completely and now apply tension via a strong spring and idler pulley combo. To relieve tension on the drive belt the idler pulley is retracted via lever. We hate electric clutches and the spring system works better with no hassles.

Thank You! I saw a video where the problem was the PTO clutch. Either the wire on the clutch or the clutch was free spinning and not turning the blades. I have replaced all switch's and it seems I now have to check out the clutch. Beyond frustrated here....and the weather has not been good so I have not been able to check out the clutch situation. My blades stopped working while mowing. Shut the tractor down. Then started it back up after a while and the PTO/blades did work....for a couple minutes then shut down again. Now they will not turn on or engage at all. Also, I put a new selenoid on the tractor when it would not start up. When this blade/PTO situation started I also had trouble again with starting the tractor and had to use a screwdriver on the two points of the selenoid. So it seems I have two problems, the blades not engaging and the tractor not starting. FRUSTRATION overload here! LOL

So they stopped working/turning and I was able later on to start the tractor up and the PTO was working right off....but in a few minutes they stopped again. Food for thought, as DW6 mentioned, too much current draw can fry the switch. Keep in mind, continuity is merely a reflection of resistance. If the PTO is drawing too much current, it will fry your new switch. I'd also perform a voltage drop and current draw test.
