That's an incredible performance of an incredible band, Pete Nicholls haunted by his character, best example of what prog rock can offer : great music, great lyrics, great musical skill, emotion .. IQ is definitely in the top 3 of the best prog bands !!
For 40 years the best Neo progg Rock band.... For 40 years their own unique melodious sound..... The best in my life (I'm 54 years old and fan from the early start in the 80s....)👌👌👌👍 PS... I still remember them, reached the Dutch Top 40 and they naild it with "Nostalgia".... From that moment on I was addicted!!
i would blast this one alot back in 1983, and was so fortunate to see them live in southampton (where IQ originaly came from) in sept 1983 -the solent suite. always a superb live act, still producing some incredibly good neo prog albums. "resistance" is my no 1 album for 2019. they havn't lost their progressive class! they've progressed into another universe of grandiosity.
I am speechless. I've been watching some of IQ's more recent stuff, I had NO IDEA Nicholls used to coordinate these kinds of theatrics. Absolutely incredible.
It's neither "shit" nor a copy of Genesis. Did you see Genesis live with Gabriel? Well I did, and they were nothing like this. Both are excellent bands.
Finally!! I am going to see this amazing band Live for the very first time next April in Quebec City for their only North american concert of 2017. Meanwhile, i can enjoy brilliant videos like this one, can't hardly wait, Thanks for posting this Gem!
It sure was! Great set list although they did not play this one (Enemy) but I love the Road of Bones songs! I'm planning to go back to Quebec for the terra incognita fest in 2 weeks, are you guys going?
This whole piece is a graphic telling of the story of someone who falls prey to the lure of drugs, tries to control but slowly but surely death creeps up on him. The cord around the arm is a reference to what heroin users use to get a vein to shoot a needle into. At the end the arms take over control (i.e. he totally succumbs to the addiction) and eventually he gets some kind of heart attack or seizure and dies. In january 1995 for the first I witnessed a performance by IQ of The Enemy Smacks and there was this girl standing in front of me at The Marquee in London (it was actually the very last gig ever at The Marquee) and she had missed that Peter had staggered on to stage in the third part (wearing the black cape) and so when he finally appeared into the lights right at the front of the stage she literally freaked out and jumped back, bumping into me. It was a spellbinding performance. Actually, almost all of the progbands of that era had some kind of theatrical performance type piece on their repertoire: Marillion had Grendel, IQ had The Enemy Smacks, Twelfth Night had Sequences and Pallas had The Ripper. That one was probably the most shocking at the time as it was the tale of a very well known serial killer at the time. Years late they finally got around filming a full performance of The Ripper. Original singer Euan Lowson made a guest appearance at this dvd shoot for this and my god, he now looks the part ... very creepy. He is playing around with a knife on stage and he even manages to cut himself for real (although accidentally) at the end ... be prepared for some gore :-) th-cam.com/video/nKmvsHUL7xc/w-d-xo.htmlh4m53s

Great, great song. An instant classic. Great performance and great sound.
Neat riffs reminiscent of Awaken and Hogweed, but work so well to deliver spills and chills, here.

Great track. IQ: the only prog rock band you could pogo to. Saw them play a great gig at the Marquee in 1985 the same night as live aid.
Good old days.
Enemy smacks, Further away, Narrow margin, Seventh house 😊
Straordinari IQ !!! ... Straordinario Concerto !!! Un Brano di rara bellezza !!!
Cette musique qui traite des dommages causé par la drogue est superbement construite ! 16 minutes qui passent très vite....
Fantastic performance! Scary Peter Nicholls!
With bands like Camel, IQ and Arena you always play it safe.
I am speechless. I've been watching some of IQ's more recent stuff, I had NO IDEA Nicholls used to coordinate these kinds of theatrics. Absolutely incredible.
Fantastic live!!
Best band I've never seen (yet).
second best band i've never seen, first is Eloy
Dopo 40 anni questo pezzo mi mette ancora i brividi ❤
Mi banda favoritaaa, pero nunca la he podido ver en vivo, cuando vinieron a chile no tuve dinero, hasta el dia de hoy los espero.

Absolutely get off on this band big time, have for just a few years, then you hear something this good from way back when.....very nice group indeed!!
Goosebumps.
The armband tassle kiss sealed it for me!
My first favourite until they released The Wake.,...
@ Kasseur2fass - think you'll find it was Genesis' "Musical Box", Gabriel was just a member :-)
The word "Shit" applies very well to your comment dude!!
Genesis and Marrilion had a baby, SWEET 😋
❤️😎🔥
Utwór marzenie....finał to mistrzostwo-bez dyskusji!!!!!

@marriott58
Sono assolutamente d'accordo con te amico mio : )
This has nothing to do with Peter Gabriel!
I noticed that Peter is always doing something weird with his hand when she sings "The Enemy Smacks". Does anyone know whats does it mean?
Fishout ofWater probably shooting heroin

This is totally a blink at Peter Gabriel's "Musical Box".
Yet with some Alice Cooper thrown in, too.
Fatality the two Peter were born on February 13th. is it a case?
There was just one original Peter Gabriel
"This" is a shit copy of Genesis
What a great Peter Gabriel tribute act
