What a fabulous host John Daly is - he makes it look so easy, but he is so clever and gentlemanly with guests who are nervous, or not very bright, or hard of hearing. Really consummate at his craft.

You should watch the Graham Norton show. It's a British talk show with a lot of very lively banter. Of course, it's not a game show like this. But still thoroughly enjoyable.

In fairness, there is just too much nowadays for people to keep track of. Too many channels, too many shows, too many reality stars, too many internet sensations, etc etc. Back then there were, what, three channels? And a lot of these people that come on are Broadway stars and unless you live in the New York area many people aren't that familiar with Broadway stars because they don't get to see them perform often or ever.

At 16:45, Arlene asks why Fernando Lamas isn't wearing one of the "beautiful suits" he wore in the musical he was appearing in at the time ("Happy Hunting"), and Lamas replies that "they wouldn't get past the censors!" Seems like an odd reply, unless you knew the back story: Lamas was co-starring with the legendary, and formidable, Ethel Merman, and they got along about as well as oil and water. Merman was no stranger to scene-stealing, and her personal antipathy towards Lamas only increased her animosity to him onstage. In order to regain SOME focus back to himself, Lamas instructed the wardrobe department to tailor his trousers so tightly than he wouldn't be able to wear underwear. This, combined with his prodigious...uh...talent, caused audiences to literally gasp when he made his entrance, much to Merman's consternation -- his weapon of choice in their ongoing battle being one instance where she couldn't exactly fight fire with fire.

Funny story! In her autobiography, Esther Williams (who was married to Fernando Lamas for several years until his death in 1982) did allude to this point ("endowment") as well. Esther wrote that Fernando did not like wearing underwear because of "creases." Esther painted a realistic and honest portrait of her long-time husband, but overall it was one which could (in no way) be considered as flattering - though she did care for him it seemed clear.

That was a real treat to see the two men who create the stunts for the game show "Beat the Clock." I used to watch reruns of "Beat the Clock" starring Bud Cullyer. I loved that show. The stunts were fun to watch and Bud Cullyer was a great host. I also watched one of the last episodes of "Beat the Clock" that was hosted by Monte Hall in 1979. I remember one rerun of "Beat the Clock" that was shown in the 1950s where it was hosted by Frank Wayne who was substituting for Bud Cullyer. He did a good job substituting.

@Betty Baumann. I AGREE COMPLETELY!! The teaching system now really stinks! 🦨 My late mother was a college English teacher and my late dad was an American college History Professor. My mother told me when I was 5 years old that she expected me to use proper grammar every time that I spoke. My English mechanics are above average. I think it's appalling how ignorant the teachers are now. The teachers in the public and private schools need to learn proper English mechanics and the real American history. Then, they need to teach their students how to use proper English mechanics and they need to teach their students the real American history instead of the CRT crap. The teachers need to teach their students how to have critical thinking skills. They need to teach their students how to ratiocinate. We need better teachers in the public and private schools!
