    on number 5 I am confused as to why the answer is B and not A. If we go by your math you gave the example for x as 180-40 making x 140. If we are to do the same for y that would be 180-75 making y 105 but you said the answer is B not A. Is that an error? Thanks!

      Great question Rebecca. It is important to understand that you are solving for x and y two different ways. Angle x is an alternate angle on the transversal which means with the 40 degree angle, they both add up to 180 degrees, or a supplementary pair. The relationship with the other two angles is that they are same-side interior angles, which means they are corresponding or the same.
