You always give it your all Mike. As if a man should operate his soul any other way. This song reminds me of doing what’s right. Not all heroes have capes. Most of the time they show themselves with instruments & artwork. God bless SD
Well it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, If you don't know by now An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, It don't matter, anyhow When the rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I'll be gone You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on But don't think twice, it's all right An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, A light I never knowed An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, I'm on the dark side of the road Well I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road I once loved a woman, a child I'm told I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul But don't think twice, it's all right An' it ain't no use in callin' out my name, Like you never did before An' it ain't no use in callin' out my name, I can't hear you any more Well I wish there was somethin' you could do or say To make me wanna change my mind and stay We never did much talkin' anyway But don't think twice, it's all right Well I'm goin' down that long, lonesome road, Where I'm bound, I can't tell But goodbye's too good a word, So I'll just say fare thee well Well I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind I coulda done better but I don't mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's all right Yeah don't think twice, it's all right Yeah don't, think twice Don't you ever, think twice, Yeah don't, think twice, it's alright
Dylan has done at least 15_20 totally different versions since the original he rarely does the same song twice the same way. Certainly changes them for every tour. He done one in 74 which was not a million miles from this one as much as like this version myself Mike ain't doing nothing which hasn't been done before the hard part is writing the song and music anyone can sing it after the fact not to hard really. I know e = mc2 but I couldn't have told you that to save my life till Einstein had already figured it out whatever the hell it means, but you get my point.
i went to see bob dylan about 8 yrs ago. shoulda just stayed home and listened to him on youtude. i left after about 4 or 5 songs much to my friend's chagrin who paid about $300 for my ticket...lol. i saw social distortion this summer in worcester ma. best $35 concert ticket i ever bought! mike ness' lyrics remind me of dylan's.
Dylan did write the original. But I think Mike's version is based more on Johnny Cash's cover than directly on the Dylan. But listen to all three versions and make up your own mind.
This is a Bob Dylan song. Everybody covered it. Waylon had a mild hit. Cash's was bigger. Hell, even Four Seasons tried to make a hit out of it. Ness' version is pretty cool. Dylan's version is still king daddy of them all.
That very much is Mike d of the 90sand he was a turd in the eighties I love social d but Mike Ness is a f****** dork most of the time, he's arguably cooler now than he's ever been
Mike Ness gets everyone through hard times ❤❤
The tune that got me thru a very dark time in my life back in 99'...Bless.
This man is pure fucking genius

Song to listen to for every single break up!!!
Well it ain't no use to sit and wonder why,
If you don't know by now
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why,
It don't matter, anyhow
When the rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on
But don't think twice, it's all right
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light,
A light I never knowed
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light,
I'm on the dark side of the road
Well I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right
An' it ain't no use in callin' out my name,
Like you never did before
An' it ain't no use in callin' out my name,
I can't hear you any more
Well I wish there was somethin' you could do or say
To make me wanna change my mind and stay
We never did much talkin' anyway
But don't think twice, it's all right
Well I'm goin' down that long, lonesome road,
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word,
So I'll just say fare thee well
Well I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
I coulda done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right
Yeah don't think twice, it's all right
Yeah don't, think twice
Don't you ever, think twice,
Yeah don't, think twice, it's alright
Awesome delivery 👏
Great version ❤️

I'm going to learn how to play this song.
Bob A Booey do it, biggest gift you can give yourself is to be able to bang out those emotions on a guitar. learn to sing too.

I once loved a woman, a child I am told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
bob Dylan should just tell the truth that a baby mike ness, taught him this song, and he fucked it up. here Mike sets us all straight

@TheJonRoberts I think it sounds better with capo on the 1st?
Good job Alex
Are Mike's acoustic songs only on vids, or does he have CD/LP of them? I haven't been able to find any except vid. Appreciate any info
Yes this is true, Bob Dylan cover, although it's still pretty good.

Waylon made this famous not Cash.
I was thinking it was Bob D original writing and recording that made it famous. I do prefer this version either way
+Lowell Calavera uh yeah he wrote it but Waylon Jennings made it famous.
This is a Bob Dylan song. Everybody covered it. Waylon had a mild hit. Cash's was bigger. Hell, even Four Seasons tried to make a hit out of it. Ness' version is pretty cool. Dylan's version is still king daddy of them all.
Sorry Bob Dylan made it famous. By writing it. And performing better than any cover of it.
YEP It's definitely a Dylan song and though many have tried Dylan nailed it.@@stormbringercoming8105
