Just finally catching up on my TH-cam this week and I'm probably going to be lost in the rest of the comments but thanks for the love!! :) Also chest mount angle tip I used to use: place 3 fingers between the camera and the chesty and it should be set to a good angle!
Thanks for the shoutout Blake! I STILL come back from some rides with really bad footage I can't use because the angle is borked. One thing I've played with is attaching a gimbal to your backpack and shooting the person behind you. Kinda weird, but kinda cool!
Something I have learned from Brian is to make sure the mount for your Gimbal is strong. Otherwise, the mount moves and the Gimbal can't do its job. :) Around 3:47 you can see it move.
This is great. I’ve been struggling with camera angles. Especially with the chest mount. I have hours and hours of unusable footage that would have been really good had I had a better chest mount angle. Thanks.
Super helpful. Thank you! I've been going through loads of trial and error with my chest mount and getting footage of just the handlebars lol. I've got a GoPro 9 and I'm going to flip it upside down in the holster and use the tips you recommended. Really excited to give it a shot during my next ride!
Thanks Blake this is great. Just what I needed. Never seen the helicopter thing b4 but seen your shots done like this before and now know how you did it! Joy!
Great great! Definately cool angles. I'll be bringing out the duck tape for that selfie pole... and fhe heli mount? One of the coolest I've seen. Great vid!
Derailer gear change action!?? thanks for the tips, working on video atm of assembly of custom built MB. (by peacock groove) I'm hoping to capture some action shots of the client, when the bike is delivered.
Just because of your shoutouts to the other Channels I am now a Subscriber to yours. Really enjoying the MTB community and channels on YT. Sharing is caring and you support your comrades in the same business as yourself. Great stuff and hey. Even more daily videos to glance at in the late evenings. Keep up your good quality content.
Hi Blake there's another camera position that can be attached to to the bike and that's on the triple crown forks but placed on the upper part next to headset of the bike in between the upper and lower cross attachments. Barracuda Bob.
I was just gifted my first POV camera yesterday (Hero 10) and was planning to use the chest mount she gave me. Later on, finances permitting, I’d like a gimbal. I’m wondering if there are a few that stand out and any to completely avoid. Keep up the great content!
MATE! I just chest-mounted my GoPro this weekend on the trails and got knee-cam. So frustrated, camera wouldn't angle up any further... Dug this up and you've got the GoPro mounted upside down so it'll aim as up as you want. Dangit!!! Such a simple solution that I just never thought of until I saw you do it. Thank you Blake! (as always) Gonna go shred some more and actually be able to see it!
I'd get closelined so hard riding with that heli-mount on my local trail! Way too many trees on either side of the trail with just enough room for your handlebars. Nice video though!
i mostly use the chest mount for biking. and top of helmet for skiing. one ive never liked was side of helmet because the helmet takes up a big chunk of the screen. either top of helmet or under visor are good for following someone. i think chest mount is best for riding alone
What about the POV set up they use on shows like Expedition Unknown where they have a pole or bar mounted to plate on the person's back? With that setup, the camera is in front of the person, looking back towards them.
Chest mounted gimbal is the best. Everything thing else just looks naff now. Still need the trail to be good though. There is also the difference in FOV that also contributes to the shot. I always forget to adjust my gimbal on really steep trails
Thanks for sharing! Some thoughts: instead of a DYI duct tape workaround (possibly leaving sticky residue and ripping stickers) and a selfie stick (doesn't seem very handy nor safe to ride with), there are (banana shaped) selfie mounts for ex. GoPole which serve this angle of shooting. Chest mounts: they may be uncomfy and more sweaty especially in combination with a backpack. If you don't manage to adjust the camera angle well enough to eliminate a view on the handlebar, make sure to shorten the strap in a way the mount moves higher up your chest. If you you're often wearing a backpack, consider a backpack strap mount from PeakDesign or StuntMan. Without a gimble, the chest area is probably the best position to get a steady image.
Aaah! Very good info here but I'm missing the cruicial info on HOW to attach it to the bottom of your visor!! Do you need a special visor with a rail/mount for the gopro or can you attach it to any visor with just glue or sticker and it won't come off?? Nevermind I found a video of a guy mounting it with the sticker =)
Freaking awesome information video. Just watched the nine knights vid and saw your photo win. Congrats on defending that title. What popped in my mind when I saw the mountains in the background with the blue skies, is and aerial shot where the daylight full moon is in the sky over the mountains. If you could get the shot while doing a 360, but have the angle so it actually looks like you're jumping over the moon. Just a thought.
6907 thumbs up but 98% of all TH-cam MTB videos from beginning to end are only filmed in 1 camera position. In the end, it's great to see how cool it looks with quickly cut different camera perspectives. And there are enough videos with such tips. Nevertheless, you can see 3min downhill blasts from the chesty or helmet mount.
Thanks For This Video! Looking At Your Beautiful Background I Became Very Curious To Know Where That Location Is? Looks Like The Canadian Rockies In Alberta/BC To Me. Right Or Wrong?
The unicorn mount and Helicopter mount will get you killed on my trails. No way would they fit between some of the trees! The footage would be epic though, and at least the Paramedics would get a laugh as they load you in the ambulance.

pro tip!!!
Thanks for the tip
Yo thanks Phil, imma try that!
Great tip, thanks!
Bro was not lost in the comments

BKXC hey Brian
BKXC Brian out here!!

BKXC II
BKXC your welcome my dude. Love your stuff man.
Love the head fidget spinner
Another angle I really love is the chin mount on a full face. It is low like the chest mount but stable on the head
Chest is my favourite. Captures everything you need you see. Besides, it also makes you look a little faster
I dunno why but I love it when Blake says "here"
Since blake said his helicopter mount was Home made.. How about a "How to" (make your own heli-Mount) Video
3 years later and still no reply :(

You gotta love Blake! What a dude.
Nice shout out to bkxc phil and seth
Greencube14 yeah😂
Yes :D
Zachariah Bowden lol
4:20 just magical
Blake is such a natural presenter and is always good at being funny and addressing kids
I like mounting on the mouth/chin piece of the full face helmet. I made a plastic bracket and velcro it on. Similar to a proshot camera.
Amazing advice for us hobbyists from a world class presenter...priceless!
The best video I have seen about camera angles in MTB!!! Your rock bro! 🤘🏼
This is great. I’ve been struggling with camera angles. Especially with the chest mount. I have hours and hours of unusable footage that would have been really good had I had a better chest mount angle. Thanks.
Love this guy's enthusiasm an passion 😚
Yep

This is the first GMBN video I ever watched!
The shots from the helimount are so sick! best tip ever.
2:39 is for me. Just purchased one for my GoPro. Looking forward to capturing my rides from the chest angle, the classic angle if so.
MR
I saw the small ifht sticker on your helmet! RAD
Boaz Tennekes seriously
i like to look at the details :)
Boaz Tennekes for sure
Thanks for the tips Blake, i've been needing this video since i am getting a Hero session.
Thanks GMBN, you guys are the best!

Great stuff taping a selfie stick/heli mount to your noggin but here @OZ Trails NWA,....the trees...ouch... Lol. Great tips as always!
Awesome TUITORIAL I got new ideas how to set-up video camera.
Learned a few things. Awesome work. Cheers.

Excellent video Blake. The advice on the chesty angle will really help since I am just starting my channel. Ride safe man! Scott
I love this freeride action!!!
The selfie stick taped to the head is a great idea! I need to try that!

Hey @printerror! Ruined footage sucks! At least now you can get shredding with the sickest camera angles EVER! 🔥🤘
I'd get closelined so hard riding with that heli-mount on my local trail! Way too many trees on either side of the trail with just enough room for your handlebars. Nice video though!
Love the megavalanche one
What is the name of mini gymble and it's buying link please. Thanks
Nice sticker on the back of your helment Blake
Haha nice shout out to BKXC and Seth, poor Alex. It's funny that you put your multitool to compensate the weight!
Awesome! And thanks for the cool hack with the heli mount!)

those camera angles are brilliant
will definitely be taking your advise!

I LOVE YOU BLAKE
Also if you use a roost guard and attach a mount to it you can get super stable chesty footage
Good job on this Blake
I like the IFHT sticker on the back of your helment blake🤣🤣

What about the dinger angle cam? For those shots when you're going in and out of Baja!
You guys need to do a video on how to build the heli mount.
Massive thanks for the tips, these videos are sick
Thanks Luke van Eykenhof! Happy to hear they're helping

Thanks for great filming tips! Shared to eBike Smile facebook group.
Seriously awesome. Thanks guys
I once fitted mine on my seat post. It is actually a good angle but a lot of times the shorts get in the way.
Nice one for the vids!! Very helpful!!!
😢 made the mistake on the chest mount just like u said, but thanks alot for new awesome ideas ill try them out
Great Video - awesome. Super content.
You sure right about the Helicopter mount it is very hard to find on the net
an actual new and unique video
tape a stick towards back on your seat and gimbal a chase cam of yourself

We would be fulfilling the childhood prophecy and become the cow jumping over the moon!
Also a top tip for POV record in 4:3 to capture much more. (16% top and bottom extra) 2.7k 4:3 is my go to for POV. :D
Orihe like it. Thanks
4:3 videos don't look as cinematic though. Black bars aren't nice.
You wouldn't be exporting your video in 4:3, it gives you the option to move the video vertically in post to get the perfect POV

Thanks for the tips Blake and #GMBN 👊🤙
Coud you do a video for GoPro settings like 2.7k/24 frames or 1080p/80 frames, Superview or 1440p, Protune, Isolimit and important sharpness?
Do a video on how to make the heli mount!!!
Awesome and cool presenter! Keep em coming man! Is that spinner DIY or ready made attachment?
L N thanks dude. It's diy buddy
Blake Samson Do a video of how that's made would be cool mate. Cheers!
hey bake just wandering if there will be some footage of u at nine knights would love to see u shred (just watched Sam Pilgrims vid)

alternative for ducktape get rid of the bolt on a handlebar mount and use it like that

how did you put the gopro mount on the poc coron? because ninja mounts don't work on the coron?
I know it’s a big ask, but could you do a video on how to make a heli mount? Cheers
Who is here and doesn't care about the camera angles but just wants to see Blake shred
Hell yeah
Blake is sick
