This makes me so happy as someone who is part Shanghainese (my mom was from Shanghai) - I love seeing all the dishes from Mythical Kitchen but also loved seeing Jimmy correct them when the xiaolongbao wasn't fully authentic
@@xJorx I was wondering when a guest was going to call him out. I love this show, but I cringe sometimes when Josh touches food with his hands and then hands it to his guests 😬 There's other things like dipping his used utensils into the shareable food...

i am so interested in MKs booking process. like every guest every episode, even when i’m not familiar with the guests turns out to be a home run! they just truly know what they’re doing and josh CLEARLY does his research, i’m just so impressed constantly
One thing that makes me love a person is the way they eat and handle food. Food is meant to be enjoyed and it is a privilege some have no access to, and I can tell Jimmy knows that very well. Nothing beats eating and appreciating warmed food with a person you're having fun talking to.
These interviews are so good because of good food (or cereal) and genuinely thoughtful conversation. The little segment on chasing loneliness and isolation as an indicator of success was delightful to see in the “celebrity interview” category.
Jimmy!!! Bunch of bangers the last few months for sure. Loved all of them. Also loved Interior Chinatown, it was different. Can’t wait to see what happens in season 2
Nice shoutout to San Diego for the Cali Burrito (it's really a "burro"), originating in Chula Vista in the south part of the county--same area where Carne Asada Fries became a thing in the mid 90s. Also, same alma mater UCSD, go Tritons!!! Didn't know Jiimmy went there! 😲
As someone also from Shanghai, Jimmy was so nice to Josh for the Shanghai foods section. Also, Josh maybe should have tried the pan fried soup dumpling instead of the steamed. It is called sheng Jian.
I will never tire of this show. I enjoy watching people enjoy food and just chill talk so so so much. Josh is always an interesting interviewer, and always invokes genuine response .
Grrat show, great food! Jimmy O is the most relatable personality to me in entertainment right now. The kids in charge of "washing the rice" was how dinner prepped worked in my household, too.
I love this series so much. The vibes and research are immaculate. Ive always been weirdly ready for death so seeing these other humans view on it is interesting. The Tom Hanks video stands out to me the most with the casual conversations about the natural topic of death. Its always a topic most people try to shush and pretend it doesn't exist. So using this forum to showcase a human we are all interested in while giving us comfort food and friendly banter drives it. This is also a high rant so I'm not sure if this if fluid or not. I just appreciate Josh for being thorough and normalizing something I'm fascinated by. The deep dive into each person is 💯
Dude, the guests on this show that really go deep into their stories and lives is absolutely such a treat. Granted, I've only watched Terry Crews, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and now Jimmy O. Yang, but geez... This show and this collection of guests is just incredible. Excellent people, excellent food, and excellent host
I really enjoyed this watch. The vulnerable and real conversations opens the door for us to see ourselves in your emotions so thanks ! I feel less alone
the chicken as a pet to dinner is very common here in the philippines aswell. (i guess its an asian thing) its basically a science project for us kids. documentation from egg to chick to full grown chicken within aprox. 45 days then report it to class. same experience one day youre feeding chichi some feeds and then suddenly having a very fatty and plump chicken tinola that evening. then you ask your mom wheres chichi? and points at your plate hahahahahaha. fun times
my girlfriend had the same sort of experience as a kid visiting family in Mexico. Spend all day playing with the chickens, picks one out and names it, a few hours later….. chicken for dinner. lol
I think it's a good way to teach kids a healthy relationship with sustainable meat, tbh. You appreciate the food so much more when you realize all that went into it.
Haha my mother is filipino and she tells me the story of her pet chicken ting ting all the time. I get the feeling she wasnt very appreciative of the "lesson" learnt at the of it though. I dont think she ever forgave my grandmother.
At 27:00 I love that they're talking about a known issue over the last 70 years in American cities, the loss of public life and public spaces due to suburban sprawl and facilitating the automobile.
Perfect timing for me, I just finished watching Interior Chinatown this week, great show! I have loved all the rolls ive seen him in, and his standup is so funny.

Him talking about cali burritos giving him through college in San Diego is so real! I went to USD and some of my fondest memories were late nights with a cali burrito ❤
Yo, shot out to KINGS BURGER. I used to eat there in college. Little backstory to that place, it was originally only a burger shop. The owners of the shops son was a prominent Sushi chef in Malibu. When the place fell on hard times the son started offering sushi out of his fathers Burger joint to attract customers, thus birthing Kings Burger + Sushi.
This interview/sit-down with Jimmy was so insightful. He has a warrior/winner's outlook on life success and growth, that it's inspiring and endearing. Also it's true that the US Oligarchy/government (federal to state to local) has wanted/enforce people to be less community driven/people oriented (where people are so selfish and jaded they treat other humans and even the less fortunate as if they are human scum), technological innovation, and social media COVID-19 excerbated this issue even more. Here in NYC, you cant even have block parties any more without a permit, nor can a restuarant that is going to throw out perishable (non-expired) food be given to homeless/food insecure. People want buy land here in the US just to get away from other humans either due to social anxieties/introverted nature/disdain for other humans. We are entering into a sad state in human existence.
Jimmy has been on my radar since silicon valley. I was surprised when he took the initiative and wrote a book and went on a press tour, and did a comedy special. ALL HILARIOUS AND ALL VERY SMART AND WELL WRITTEN! I've loved and followed him since. I love what he said here about immigration, and having these stories for mainstream audiences to hear, I think, are great for bringing everybody together.

Jimmy is not only one of the most well spoken Asian immigrants I’ve heard but also just genuinely one of the most well spoken people I’ve heard.
