    I don’t think people realise how great and helpful the centre lines are on Festool routers. 👍🏻 helpful video Sedge I didn’t realise the 1010 could be used like this.

    Great video and another example of Festool functionality. I don't do that much edging and have been successful using flush trim router bits in the past. Am I overlooking some additional advantages of this setup vs a flush trim bit for the occasional edging project???? I also have the MFK 700 and OF 1400 in addition to the OF 1010 if needed.

      Great point! .... I wanted to show the basics of the edging plate system first in this video.... there are many great applications we will use the edging plate for in future builds .... stay tuned

    Hey Sege is there a collet adapter collet for the OF 1010 that will allow me to use 1/2 shank bits, if so, where can I purchase it?

    • @sedgetool
      @sedgetool  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Of1010 does not accept 1/2" collets

    Can you please tell me what is the maximum distance between the top of the edging plated and the bottom of the router base. That is, what is the maximum width you can cut using this?

    • @sedgetool
      @sedgetool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sorry for the delay...40mm is tops what I would use for clearance...or close is 1 9/16"

    Awesome. So those accessories effectively give my OF1010 some of the capability of the MFK 700. That may just save me from buying a FIFTH Festool router!!! 🤣 Thanks Sedge.

    Any thoughts or recommendations for edge trimming melamine shelving with 3/4 by 3/4 walnut edge banding besides not to do it?

    • @jwar2163
      @jwar2163 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tongue and grove will work and it locks in the Walnut to the melamine, you can also domino the edge to the melamine. I did this (Domino'ed) with maple to double sided white 3/4 melamine for the extension table on my table saw. one side was smooth with the melamine and the other side 2 inches past to allow mounting to the fence rails. I have also done this using double side under the sink for cabinets as bare plywood tends to have issues once the seal is worn through.

    • @sedgetool
      @sedgetool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      very tricky to do because the chance of wearing through the melamine is very high ....... I did a set of doors like this and the technique I used was to put blue tape on the melamine right to the edge of the walnut so I knew I was getting close as I wore out the blue tape as I did my final sanding ... I hope this makes sense....

    Wow I’m a little scared because that was exactly the question I asked myself yesterday. Whether I can use my OF 1010 for the edges (I don’t do that often) or if I really need an MFK 700? Can you read my mind? LOL

    You really don't need the edging plate. You can do this with the Festool OF 1010 with a regular flush trim bit.
    You can clamp the board in a vertical position and install the cip catcher to improve dust extraction.
    I know, it's not going to be stable, if the stock is thin. No problem, just clamp a rebated 3 inches wide fence on the other side of the board.
    That's good enough. No need to buy additional parts.

      I think for under $200, it’s a really useful accessory. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet but of course, there are many people who jig everything which is fine too.
