Iv'e purchased an HD6xx from the second batch together with an 02+SDAC when Massdrop was still Massdrop , never regretted my purchase, never had better sound.
++ They've repaired my old 365 even though it was 2years over warranty no costs at all. It's a level of support you just don't get anymore from other vendors these days. One of my favourtite companies.
I’m looking for some new headphones, I have Astro a40 with mix amp. I’m looking at the HD6xx or the pc38x from Drop. I can’t count out the 58x too. How do you like them for gaming?
So...which is the best? Which has the best soundstage out of these? Which has the best positional audio? And are there better alternatives at the same price range?
You're absolutely right about the sound quality difference, and good insight into the open back/sound stage conversation. I have the 58X and loved them so much I purchased a DAC+AMP. Although I thnk the sound signatures are very similar, I do regret not purchasing the HD6xx as they're ever so slightly better imo.
@@asphaltbinder Good to know. I recently got the IE 500 Pro as they were on sale. And think I prefer them over the HD650's. Which is the only time I have ever said that. So I was curious on how the "new edition" for the 660s compared. I appreciate you getting back to me!
@@ThomasMuehler No problem, btw if you have the game "Squad" on PC. Take a listen to the sounds of firing weapons at the firing range. Incredibly accurate. Also forgot to mention that I have my 660S's powered by a SoundBlaster ZxR soud card. Not as good as a dedicated tube amp or digital amplifier but, does good enough for me.
4:30 can you name some headphone with bigger soundstage? I am using DT 900 pro X and wuld like to get something with wider soundstage i.e. understand ym surroundings in game better and ofc I dont want my ears to get blown when I get headshot in any game by a deagle (like in csgo, not cs2) Budget - $500 ish nothing more AMP/ DAC - topping dx1 Purpose - Gaming only / cs2 / valorant / DEFAULT should be the best for gaming i.e. I will NOT be using any EQ software
I've got a HD58X and love it, is it worth upgrading to a HD650 for gaming and listening to music? Mostly playing shooters and listening to rap music. I have a Schiit Magni and have a Modi on the way.
The apple dongle measures quite well in tests for sound quality (apple engineered the dongle really well for the size and the price compared to anything else for the same size) so for portable use you don't need anything more specially if you get the hd58x since they have half the impedance than the 650 and they won't respond to different kinds of dac/amps as much as the HD6xx/650.
Own the 58x’s and run them either through my Fulla E or my Evga Nu Audio. Want to get a pair of Hifiman Sandarus or another quality planar magnetic set of cans. I stream and game, don’t really listen to music. Locally I can get a pair of 650’s for $150 and can probably talk the Sandaru seller down to $200. I also have a pair of the Corsair Vertuoso SE’s for when I want wireless. Oh and also a pair of the Sennheiser gsp 500’s
Classical Technology thanks for taking the time to reply! Subscribed to the channel. I am guessing the $50 extra is worth it? Budget is there I just don’t want to waste $50 extra if there isn’t a need! Thanks.
i got the 58x for 100 bucks i got them open box new, but u think i should have got the 6xx ? i mainly do competative gaming where footsteps matter, and ill also be using them for movies and music
@@ClassicalTechnology suggestions u think i will need a dac/amp combo or is the soundblaster z good enough or my otherboard. How much better is the 6xx for footsteps over the 58x ?
*me watching this while wearing brookstone cat ear headphones*
Yeah maybe I'll consider
😁
LMFAO!!! That's great!

Sennheiser support is phenomenal too. Worth considering if purchasing too

Good point about a headset not being as great for design work. Best audio quality comes without a microphone but external mics are available :P
Definitely!
sold my astro a40 tr and got the 6xx and fii k5 pro, been using it since January,no regrets!
Nice!
How have they been for gaming btw ?
They've been great man,i can pin point exactly where the footsteps is,after using this headphones, now i realize i dont even need 7.1
I'm going with the same setup! My first budget hifi setup!

Nice man, I love my Sennheiser HD 650's and my Sennheiser HD 660S.
They are awesome!
@theconstruct Out of sheer curiosity. Which do you think sounds better, the HD650 or or the HD660s?
@@ThomasMuehler I love my HD650's until I purchased the HD660S. In my opinion I like both but the HD660S are the pair I prefer.

Does that include the Lightning dongle that came with my iPhone or do you mean the USB type C variant in the Apple store?
@@agoogleuser9025 They are probably the same not sure tho. The dac part is at the lightning connector end.
How do these compare to the Audio Technica AH700?

We have to pay around 450€ for the 650 :-( and it has 300 Ohm, what makes it not good for gaming
Guys, help me pls: Focusrite scarlett 3rd gen and sennheiser hd6xx how this will work together?

So 58X or the 6XX for someone more into gaming?

I'd go 6xx
