Just bought a 9c this weekend for myself for Father’s Day and I was already unsure about the Backstrap, then I fired it a few times, and said yeah, that’s gotta go. Will be doing this as soon as I can! Also wish I could find the different size Backstraps. Feel like the small would fit me better. Otherwise for a cheaper gun this thing has not disappointed!

Just bought the STR-9S Combat. Been to the range twice, 150 rounds each time without any malfunctions. I will be following you on eliminating the pyramids on the backstrap [reminded me of the similar backstrap on my Canik TP9 which I covered with a Talon grip]. I've used a small and medium strap and find the small works better for me. My gun came with a magwell but it cut into the palm of my shooting hand so I removed it. Best of luck with your gun.

Great video. I've been looking for a way to get rid of the sharp spikes on the backstrap. Thanks

Working man hands versus desk jockey's hands. I fired 200 rounds within 15 minutes without drawing blood or irritation with the medium back strap on my STR9C. I know woman shooters with tougher hands that didn't complain about the STR9C. When you spend you life handling snakes, I guess the palm is baby smooth?

This is not the way I did it. Do not use power tools on it. Remove the backstrap and tape off the other non affected areas with duct tape. Hand sand it with wet dry paper of different grits... 220-600-1200. Finish polishing it off with mothers mag polish. Wash off with dawn detergent and an old toothbrush. Then use a plastic or nylon rod to rub on the spikes to get rid of the white from sanding. Dry and install. Repeat steps for desired grip texture. It will look just like factory without the painful spikes on the backstrap and still give you a good purchase.
