Many Haitians & other displaced African descendants in the Americas pour libation on the ground prior to drinking a beverage in remembrance of the Ancestors (similar to Joshua’s demonstration). When we pour libation in Haiti, we also say “Pou sa mpawè yo!” = 😢For the ones I am no longer able to see (in reference to the Ancestors).
