This is the case! I believe only one or two of them roped you. They wouldn't need to show you their IDs and bring you to their home if they were real thugs.. they could easily rope you on a side street if they were real criminals. Glad you are safe. This actually could happen anywhere in the world even in first world countries. Be careful out there and I advice you to find a local to show you around when you're in poor or dangerous neighborhoods anywhere in the world. Safety first!

I enjoy your videos usually. I think you are wrong here. The people showed you good hospitality even when they themselves were struggling and it is unfair to have a title generalizing and accusing them all of being thieves and thugs! It could have ended up much much worse if they were real dangerous criminals.

I know some Arabic. It sounds like a joke. Not nefarious. You're dealing with folk living in isolation in the Middle East. Do you seriously think that these people are plotting? I've heard comments made by country people in Australia. Much more depraved and insidious. It's a language and cultural difference. Perhaps research the subject before going there and making unfounded conclusions. I'd hate to think how the poor in your country would behave if they had a home

Hello sir, I just saw this video after I watched your visit to my town Basra in Iraq and left you a comment on one of your videos in Iraq about the word “nus” which means “half” when you were getting a sandwich for 1500 Iraqi dinars.
I just want to let you know in the minute 11:05 in this video, one of the guys ( I think the bald guy) made a comment about you are going to get a surprise while you were there. I don’t know how to explain it exactly in English but the phrase that one of them used implied bad intentions. He said “ ferd alah ale” which means when someone gets in trouble. So basically they already Knew something bad is coming your way.
Now I could be wrong, but that’s very clear to me they had bad intent towards you and they probably planned all that in a short time and they had to act quickly. Anyways, I’m glad you are safe, and I know you’ll not encounter such a thing in Iraq.

I could see the danger already in the eyes of the guy in 5:01 approaching you and inviting you for coffee. THERE it all started! Some good rules for you..DO NEVER BE with a group of idle young people like this... Those guys was planing not only to rob you, but also to kidnap you and ask ransom from France, which can be very traumatic even if you survive it. There was some red flags, to learn from next time:
    1. CHARISMATIC guy with the weed necklace, he seems to be the one keeping you distracted from listning to your inner alarm bells.
    2. The over exaggeration generosity and attention. Ask yourself WHY do you think they will feed you and waste their money on you? Those people are poor.
    3. The fleshy and expensive bikes and cars they showed you. Do you sincerely believe those people afford buying things lika that? They are most probably stolen or robbed from other victims.
    4. No one seems to go to work. What are they living on? They didn't seem to do anything else than waiting for their prey like appear.
In general I would say avoid POOR areas, even if most of them are extremely nice, there will always be 1 and 2 who are taking advantage of the lawlessness in that area. And sometime 1 and 2 is just enough to make you regret the time you set your foot there. There is a reason why those places are empty of tourists.
Thanks God you survived this, I don't believe this was their first victim... The elders knew this as well, that's why they where not very chatty and kept low profile, as what they will do with you is part of their life to survive.

That's why (I think I can speak for many Eastern Europeans) we are so suspicious of hospitality of other cultures. Even if genuine, it seems too forced. When we see this behavior, the first thing we think is "how is he going to rob me now".
I saw a few Yves' videos, the hospitality blew my mind, but this long-haired dude gave bad vibes since the beginning. But I probably would've easily get caught in his trap too. I was so anxious just watching the video, because the moment he sat down, it was impossible to leave the place. That's why if somebody smiles at me on the street and tries to begin a conversation, I will avoid him as much as I can. "Expensive" cars, bikes and clothes are suspicious too. Yes, don't judge the book by its cover, but sometimes prejudice can save your life.
Most of the family seemed genuine, though.

@@pakan357 what you are taking about is inner feeling it can be right or wrong depending on certain elements and can be shaped by cultural values. But what I was taking about is media brainwashing and racial profiling. Having a thick beard does not make a guy bad. Many of the pious people in past before mass media had long beards the Abrahimic faith prophet, Jesus as portrayed in church paintings, many well known science figures such as Einstein, Newton, Charles Darwin the list goes on. The guy with the long hair organised everything, he's a bad dude through and through. He called the bearded guy because he spoke English to get you to stay. I'd say all the other guys knew you were going to get robbed. When ever you're around a bunch of dudes siting around doing nothing its a bad sign. No one does anything for free. Have a tea and leave. You also seem to laugh a lot, nervously. To these guys that's a sign of weakness to exploit and they don't respect that. Because you dont speak Arabic, its difficult to gain respect. Its best to be respectful, accept small hospitality and always be wary

Also, I've seen in your videos you accept gifts and services for free. I wouldn’t do that. If you don't want to show you have money in that moment, come back later to the shop and bring a gift or something. That shows respect and they will like and remember you. You have to match hospitality for hospitality. These people are not there for just your personal experiences and satisfactions.

I completely understand your point, and it does make sense.
Regarding the relationship with them, I think that my behavior did not really matter, whatever I would have done, they would have always tried to rob me.
Regarding gifts, I accept gifts because in the end I don't really care if people give me things or not (I don't get satisfied by receiving a gift, I never receive any gift for my birthday or christmas, because I actually don't like to receive gifts), and I don't feel that I owe anything to people who give me things, because often people give for themselves (often people give not to make the person who receives the gift happy, but they give because giving makes them happy, and makes them feel that they have high morals). And personally, I don't really like to give, because then I feel as if I was trying to buy sympathy
And regarding who dominates who, I also don't really care, if people want to think that they are better than me, or that they dominate me, very good for them, I honestly don't care.

Don't even apologise or feel guilt, like honestly, you're a tourist and a foreigner who is there to travel and enjoy the place, the way you encountered them and the welcoming they gave you is common amongst most places in the Middle East and Europe, the unfortunate thing is the facade they put on which gave you a false impression that they were truly welcoming. I feel like most of the people in this video were genuine, and I feel like most people watching this video would have also accepted the invitation considering out of guilt, most people don't want to feel insulting to a potential host. They were all in it. You are naive to think otherwise. You clearly can see their behaviour is off. Not the ones that interact with you give it away, but the ones sitting around and observing you. The older guy with seat backwards is no good and is in the know, hiding his face at first. The younger fellows in the back enjoy themselves, laughing; not because they have a good time with you, they know what is up and enjoy you are buying into it. Even the women in the window know what's up; they know their men. Even that little boy has a nasty grown up expression on his face. The guy checking out your sunglasses in a moment when you are not paying attention; already eager to claim it. At 9:37 you see older guy talking with wide legs man, saying something you can't understand and should not know. Probably something about you being a easy victim, which makes the wide legs man feel uncomfortable, shaking his legs. Older man then looks to his right, lifting his eye brows. Next to him that younger fellow, who clearly is not in control of his emotions, continuously laughing, because he knows you are there to be robbed. Wide legs dude, after the words of older guy, then participates in the con, "je-hal habibz"- or whatever, repeating, smiling at you, but it's not real. He knows he's funny to the rest, being nice to you. Silent guy on the right of you, observing, but then does his part talking about the coffee. Afterwards he checks out his friends, to see if he did well in participating. It's insane to think any of these people are not aware of what is about to happen to you.
This really is an excellent video for the study of bodylanguage.... They are ALL in it.
...and some people in the comments; "ooh they are so nice to you." lol... how naive. I love watching this video on repeat. It is so interesting.

The absolute trust of the mother only 🔐
This happened to me, but with completely different events !
I learned a lot from my mistakes , I think this is the tax of everyone who has a good heart 🤔
Sorry for what happened to you🌹

Yes, you always learn from your mistakes. It's always possible to find positive things in any bad experience.

It might have been one solo bad actor. Are you sure the group was aware and involved?

    • @KinoYves
      @KinoYves  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I am pretty sure that three of them were involved (the two who drove me around, and the younger brother who cut my hair). Regarding the others, I am sure that one guy I have been in contact with after publishing the video was not aware of anything, and the others, honestly I don't know, but I think that none of the others were involved, though some were probably aware of it.

    you have an amazing channel
i dont like the attire of the people - that fast money vibe with balanciaga, watches and phones, sitting around all day - thats what i find suspicious in a country that has some problems with poverty. but i guess they most have some power/respect, as otherwise people would take it from them, so not bad to be friendly with them.
but for me its a cultural thing aswell, i have not a good read on people from arabic countries cant cant distinguish when people are really nice or just want something, while in germany if people are too nice i often am more suspicious :)

From their language, most of the people in the video are tribal bedouins..and not Lebanese :) just wanted to clarify

They’re still Lebanese regardless. What is the definition of a Lebanese according to you?

    • @rahky2799
      @rahky2799 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@shortclips4267 What is the definition of a Lebanese to you? or according to you, would any population that migrates to any of the ancient countries suddenly become an established part of it? to me, a Lebanese shares similar culture, language, tradition, norms, foods, trends, and behaviors within the Lebanese society.
