    I´ve been a professional musician for decades, and although many are quite intimidated with this tech, having real world music skills will make an enormous difference from the average user. AI is like having a team of expert assistants.

      Nailed. Craftmanship will always be more recognized than automation, even if the final product is less sophisticated. Because (thanks to) anthropomorphism. I can see entertainment marketing plans in the future following the same valuation patterns as in the food or clothing industry, promoting how it was "finely crafted by local people" etc

      Young people are not picking up instruments.
      I give guitar lessons and had up to 7 students every week 15 years ago.
      I have only one today coming infrequently.
      They have no incentive and are prone to giving up qickly.
      This will only accelerate this trend.

    Well, I’m glad I’m 70 years old and have lived through some of the best decades of real music. I think without human intervention in a song, or a story or a piece of art it is dead and lifeless. But in the future you won’t know it - maybe that’s okay? I don’t know. And I spent the last 40 years before retiring in IT having watched the progression of AI furtively. Now I’m not so sure. “I’m sorry Dave I can’t do that." Bonus points for the film reference! Just kidding!

      Hey, I really appreciate where you are coming from. I am a little more hopeful (perhaps a bit naive) with Ai, in my thoughts artist, and musicians will use it as a tool such as a camera or a midi control. I think it will take human involvement to make it good or great.

I’ve created a couple of bits of J S Bach that sound pretty good, from the software. Really great channel as well.

Now that the cat is out of the bag and affordable to everyone, the studios have to reimagine their biz strategy.

      @TestDeckMusic 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      You're assuming a lot here. They've had the ability to convert audio to midi, and play the midi on pre-defined vst instruments. That's not a secret tech anyone has held onto, its been integrated into DAWs for a while now and only got better recently. But this tech in the video is not that and has definitely NOT been around for that long like you're describing, in secret or otherwise. Requires machine learning training methods that simply haven't been around for more than a couple years that would have been impossible previously.
      Records labels don't have super secret better than public models either. The financial incentives for this tech are making things publicly available for volume, or using it for intangible benefits like pulling people into your tech ecosystem. Record labels don't need premium AI models in secret, there would be no financial incentive for doing so versus using skilled musicians.

    AI sounds really bad, at least these days. But a good musician, engineer can benefit from these new tools. It never takes over music. Just like synths didn’t kill pianists, nor samplers made drummers homeless. Not too mention that it doesn’t impact 99% of world’s population.
    The biggest problem is responsibilitiy of big distributors… they shall not allow subpar quality music reach listeners. They shall be moral gatekeepers, so that masses won’t listen to and be used to garbage. Like these demo songs… far away from any quality produced by real human beings with many working hours.

      @@cesar4729 Really? So they created a pianist, you think. Indeed? It’s so far away from artificial intelligency as Earth from the next solar system. All musicians and all good engineers in this industry will still have their job. BUT… were any of you so naive, that the “let’s pay all creatives who want to jump into the Corporate business even if it’s against UMG profit” is a feasible way? These guys had no supertech before supercomputers’ evolution, but they have had the money shortpaying all “stars” compared to what they harvested from listeners. All they are doing now (these HUMANs) is that taking back the lost steering wheel) and will use this tool (please do not say AI) to generate so much noise beyond the currently uploaded 100000 song per day, that nobody will have mood to create mediocre “songs” again. Mariah Carey won’t use this tool, and will have live seasion musicians if hubby wants to put out a new album for profit.
      The guys who are giving their faces on this new tool are doing it for money too. They are already rich, what can they lose? Spotify audiobook scandal… hard not to imagine how they want to keep big percentage of the royalty fees by uploading machine voiced audiobooks on their own or via subsidiaries, and paying less to self-made artists.
      These are the problems, and this is human problem, greediness, and likely 1st world, as music business was always so shady.
